  1. I'm currently playing an Earthborn, sole surviving soldier in Mass Effect. I had no idea Lance "I have the best voice in the world" Henriksen, was in it. Yay!
  2. The difference there is that the drunk drivers actions were the cause of death. Fake MySpace kid was likely a contributing factor to the girls decision to end her life, but not the cause. I think this kind of stuff is really the straw that broke the camels back, and it would be impossible to find every little thing that lead to the choice she made. I think it's wrong to assume that if she killed herself over this she would have killed herself over anything, because we really don't know what this is. It's a really defeatist attitude. If someone is sad, why bother trying to make them happy, because they're only going to get sad again. Counseling? Nah, it might stop them from killing themselves this time, but they'll do it eventually, right? It's also condescending to assume that if something isn't a big deal to you then it shouldn't be a big deal to other people as well. It's not surprising a depressed teenager isn't going to want to discuss their problems with others if they fear being dismissed.
  3. Apparently this went on sale today in Aus, a week earlier than expected.
  4. Definitely. It makes sense that they'd rather think of the good stuff over the bad. It's also unlikely the girl shared all her thoughts and problems with them, or even anyone else. I've never understood why people can be so hostile when talking about those who've committed suicide. Labeling someone so scared to face life they want to die a coward is like calling a rape victim a huge **** or telling an anorexic they ought to lose some weight.
  5. Lara without triangle breasts is Lara in name only.
  6. How many school massacres have there been where the perpetrator killed with knives or some kind of melee weapons, and how many have had similar body counts to school massacres involving guns?
  7. Damn friggin' straight we're nice. Oh, and CoD4 is out, AC comes out Friday and ME will be out next week. Dunno about Mario.
  8. The Witcher\System\witcher.ini Change Language=FinalEnglish_Short to Language=FinalEnglish_Long. Haven't tried it myself.
  9. This is what my Google skills have come up with. Now use your google skillz to find a way to enable teh b00br0x0rz!1 No boobies = game breaking experience. Actually to me it is. Well only partially, I've decided that I will not buy this game. The script changes and lack of the full original experience is the final straw. Maybe after mass effect if they have a patch with updated lost content I'll consider buying the game but until then they should be ashamed. A simple ini edit will restore the original script.
  10. There is a mod called Shifter, which adds to the game, rather than being an all new set of missions. I don't recall exactly what it does, but it changes the rule system somewhat, throws in some news unique weapons to find. Because I'm so nice I've decided to add a link: http://mods.moddb.com/8002/shifter/
  11. Silver is free, which allows you to download demos, videos and XBLA games. Multiplayer requires Gold.
  12. I have 14 games saved on my hd, that includes a couple xbla games, and saves from both 360 and xbox games. All up it takes 392 mb. I suppose then the arcade version would be fine as long as you don't want to play demos (or videos), which are often over 1 gig.
  13. I actually managed to get rescue all the survivors in Dead Rising, only to realise I had completely forgotten about Kindell, and he took off with a whole room full of them. Damn it. I would be trying the Hellgate demo, but it cut out at 98%. God damn it.
  14. Space-Wardog seems way too chilled for something with "war" in its name.
  15. ^What's depressing about it?
  16. Same. There was a particular boss I could never get past. Under the cathedral or some such.
  17. Yep. It was a long time ago though, and all I remember was that it was better than I expected, being one of those FMV games with Real Actors. Have you played KGB?
  18. I believe that's US only.
  19. So I have two artists, both have created a work based on war, one pro and one anti, as well as two former soldiers, both have written a book about their experiences in combat, one anti war and one pro war. The views of those on one side contradict the views of those on the other. Who should I believe, who should I take as an authority? Help me Walsing-ham, you're my only hope. I'd suggest you evaluate each on the merits of their reasoning. If the pro-war ones are pro-war because they like hurting people for example that would reflect negatively, just as it ould if the anti-war ones find taking pictures of animals injurious to their dignity. Of course I'd also suggest you read more and view more artistic work, expand the sample size. But what if none of them display any obvious bias? How will I know which one to take as an authority*? I don't want my credulity in question. *The ones I agree with, obviously.

  21. Important issues? This is a computer game forum, there are no important issues. If you can point out how I put words in your mouth, please do so. I simply said that if you truly believed that nonsense you wrote then you were a moron. The only one crying here is you, apparently unable to deal with the fact you were insulted on a message board. But don't worry, since it's unlikely you'll you respond with anything other than another childish whine, I'll let you get the last word in, but please, try to pick something better than accusing people of crying, that's so terribly lame. Actually, they do seem to recognise the problems with the engine. There was an interview recently with Jordan Thomas at Rock Paper Shotgun discussing problems with the technology, and I recall Harvey Smith regretting not writing their own engine. Scrapping it and starting over is a huge waste of time and resources, and unless you're a Blizzard or similar company it's probably not an option.
  22. It's cute that you managed to notice that, but not read my first post thoroughly enough. No need to cry though. Cry about what? You made a comment implying the developers chose to design the game in this way because "that is what the player wants", and I corrected you, pointing out that there never was a choice, as they only had one option. So if I didn't read your thoroughly enough, what is it that I'm not seeing? Because it seems to me to be a petty way to dismiss people when you have nothing left to argue.
  23. I take it then you've had experience with the subject in Eddo's thread? You don't need experience in something to understand it, to feel something about it, and having first hand experience doesn't automatically mean your view is more true than someone who hasn't. I know a woman who angrily calls her two kids (5 & 12) "****ing freaks" or "little retards" whenever they do something that bothers her. As much as I insist this is emotional abuse, she claims it's no big deal because they know she is only joking. As I don't have any kids of my own, I guess she knows best.
  24. Good thing I don't believe that then. But another thing that would be helpful would be for you to find where I wrote that expected/demanded/wanted streaming areas, or did you try to put your words in my mouth like a moron? My point was that they designed a PC game within the 64 MB limitations of the original Xbox, thus having to chop up every level into tiny pieces. I don't think any player in the world prefers tiny, chopped up levels with huge loading times between them before big levels. It was a huge step backwards in game design, no matter which game you compare it to. Developers are actually trying to decrease loading times (even eradicate them completely) these days. Even a moron would know that. "Most games are going for the free-form, no loading times route nowadays." You didn't say that you expected/demanded/wanted streaming areas in DX:IW in particularly, and I never claimed you did, but you obviously brought it up for a reason. The problem wasn't just the limitation of the xbox, it was the limitations of the crap job they did with the engine, regardless of the system it was running on. Poor implementation of technology is a completely different kettle of fish to an intentional design decision. And it's cute that you were so hurt by my insult that you felt the need to use the same insult on me twice.
  25. There wasn't one at all, that's the problem.
