But that's only US. It's the exact opposite internationally. Hence 100+ million total. ‘Mad Max’ Rides To $64M; ‘Pitch Perfect 2′ Chimes In At $27.1M – Intl Box Office. http://deadline.com/2015/05/mad-max-fury-road-pitch-perfect-avengers-age-of-ultron-china-international-box-office-1201428554/ -

Mad Max is a 100+ million already. Is that really considered doing badly? -
I just love her attitude. "This isn't feminism! I decide what feminism is!"

Mad Max: Fury Road: 99% Fresh with 190 Critic Reviews

If the story is consistent and isn't fourth wall breaking preachy I don't really care if they are trying for a feminist message. It's the guy who made the franchise so in my eye he can do what he wants with it. As for "MRAs" hating the movie. This seems to be a masturbatory invention of sjw minds who made a huge self-congratulating deal about some site called Return of Kings (who don't even identify as MRA from what I gather) being butthurt. They of course went right on ahead and smeared that onto everyone "MRA" which is to say anyone who doesn't agree with them. And that snowballed into another spat. -

Whelp. I'll probably like it yet be kinda disappointed because of the expectations such raving reviews bring. -
LOL that article. First the created the environment where they put games through a PC checklist now it's suddenly an issue when they think creators put in things because of said checklist and not because they want to.

Caving in and removing hookers will just become the new controversy. How about they simply put male hookers (in whatever form) into the game.

I want to see the next Dishonored.

Reactivity like that would absolutely be awesome for immersion. But it is different from pushing for the game world to be policed like that because the player's pretend crimes need to be punished. Sounds like scolding for thoughtcrime. GTA gamifies crime with it's very basic star system. It is sorely lacking depth sure but there is no malice.... And here we are discussing it like it's something that needs to exist at all. Which it doesn't, it's a nice feature. But people can think about what they are doing and how they feel about it for themselves.
-
1) It is unreasonable for a game the size and scope of GTA. 2) Why? Judge your own actions. Why do you need the author to tell you right from wrong? Why do you need the virtual world to be policed?

Killing the prostitute to get your money back isn't a portrayal. It's player choice. She's portrayed as a prostitute, the rest is up to you. If you do it, why you do it, what you take away from the experience, is entirely on you and your responsibility.

Like what?

Where did I say the word "problem"? It's an opinion on her work output. They are satisfied but I suspect that has nothing to do with the actual work but her status as the focal point for the entire mess.
-
I think Anita's work output is ridiculously inadequate. But then I'm not the one paying her.
-
It's the massively exaggerated "But you get to do it yourself".

What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
Fighter replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Way Off-Topic
So many things have happened on Supernatural that there isn't any tension left and nothing feels important anymore. -
I certainly don't have a problem with that either. Make your game as preachy as you like. And it's not like I don't enjoy art that can make a good point and still be engaging. What I have a problem with is this creeping push to make "the message" a central criteria. People like that don't just want diversity, they want the entire media environment to project a specific set of philosophies they agree with. They wont be happy if everyone can just find what they are looking for as long as the market dominant kinds of entertainment are the "wrong" kinds. You can't achieve what they want without some form of control, with more taboos and more shaming.
-
I don't think Anita or any other social activist has any place "advising" on character design. Games are not your mom and not your school teacher. I want the idea of imposing social message responsibility on games and other entertainment to die and never be brought up again.

What Skyrim did is a waste of space. Might as well not bother. -

Grunted I do think most Bioware women are butt ugly... I'm kinda curious how you figure that. -
As much as you or them keep trying to dismiss the ethics issue. Most of these sites improved their disclosure policies because of Zoe Quinn which disproves that point. Because despite trying to dismiss it they knew a conflict of interest when they saw it. The response to any part of it from journos has everything to do with ethics. This would never have been a thing if not for that. Gamergate was born from the identity politics articles. Zoe would have been forgotten if they didn't go on the attack. This conversation is about what they made it about.
