You're right. They certainly wouldn't notify us if the company was in shambles right before the release of a flagship game... I'm not saying the company is in shambles, just saying that if it was - realistically we don't really know, we assume things based on the "evidence" we recieve. But it's fixed evidence, is it not? I mean, we do not live with the workers and we don't work there. They do not owe us any real solid explanation even though some people here may like to believe otherwise. All good businesses are ran much like politics, we'd be foolish if we think they'd tell us everything. Running the business like a politics doesn't make the company good, but it does make them smart because they can trick us fans into anything if they wanted to. This is business 101 and common knowledge for those who take business in college. Creating a positive space and maintaining apparence with your audience, keeping your customer base, these are the biggest goals of any business. Telling the stories that no-one wants to tell is not. It is quite different to tell why people are leaving your company, than to tell people your company's success story in a from rags-to-riches video. Nobody in the right mind would overly expose themselves to fans/consumers with the risk of media backlash of it eas something serious, after all. Do we know if it is? No, again, we can only assume based on explanations goven to us. Whatever, they may be. My talk about business is in general, not just on Obsidian. Just so nobody misunderstands.

Please ... Please ... Please produce Traveller
SonicMage117 replied to Mindrider's topic in Obsidian General
While I love your enthusiasm and wishful thinking, I do not think Obsidian is in any position to do such a product. Perhaps in a couple years, this may change and they may be able to take more load. I, too, would love this idea! By the way, welcome to the forums! -
That is true for a lot of people here. So if someone said something about your English, maybe he/she really had problems understanding what you mean, or just had the impression that you didn't really try?I always thought that you really were from Texas. So you're trying to tell me that I'm not from Texas now? Lol Not that it matters, but you do know that the majority of people who live in Texas do not speak primary English, right? I can tell you've never been. It has nothing to do with me having a problem with communicating, whenever I ask someone to point out what they didn't understand or what I could explain better, they never give an answer. It's more like the common forum logic of "I don't like this person or what they're saying so I'll just pretend not to understand them" and so on. Anyways, this thread is looking bad too, it may be the next to lock if it keeps going on like this and this is all turning pointless quickly.

@TheisEjsing How am I being a prick exactly? Is it because I'm not bowing down to kiss your feet? I don't think I'm troll here but I think I've unintentionally struck a nerve, however, for that I cannot apologize for something that isn't my fault. You seem to want to convince me that I'm doing or saying something I'm not, calling me names and bullying me isn't going to work or make you look like a badass, you're only acting more and more like a fool. And do you hear yourself? Is it like you to exagerrate and twsit things? Never once did I say the game was destroyed... being worried about the game's final polishing stage doesn't mean I think the game will be ruined. It means that I think the game will still release a buggy mess and like I said, we'll see when the game releases. I don't see any harm in stating a legit reason to be concerned. You are acting as if I'm trying to sabotage your expereince or other's anticipation for the game. Self-respect? At who's standard? Yours? Don't make me laugh, you know next to nothing about me exceptwhat I've posted on the forums, if you think you can judge me based on that, I feel sorry for you as an individual. Be done with me, I care not if you or anyone else here believes I'm not worth their time. I will still be free to post here and certainly, your bullying will not affect my night's sleep as you are nothing to me lol You forget that I have backed the game, like anyone else, clearly I am not the enemy here... I deserve a say here whether you like it or not. Just as much as anyone else. Have a blessed night!

I never said that there is internal strife within Obsidian, you're putting words in my mouth. There's nothing wrong with my comments and if you think I'll somehow ever be embaressed because a bunch of avatars/members disagree with me then the joke's on you. My statement is that everything going on is red flags, nothimg more. And no, not trying to surprise anyone, I don't care that you or anyone else continously trolls me for comments that you don't agree with. When he game ships and is full of bugs, maybe you guys will be the ones embaressed, I don't know but if you think I care about my reputation on a forum with the same members on here daily, you couldn't be more wrong. If that was the case, I'd probably be gone now. There are far more bad experiences with delays than good ones. Katrina leaving is just another distraction from the game being 100%, I don't care who says what, I know that must have hit the staff hard as she was loved by the team, she was an integral part, more than people here care to admit so that damages morale, certainly. Right now is the most crucial stage of the game production pre-release, that's where my mindset stems from and it's not incorrect. If you guys don't like it, that's cool.
-
Would you like a special bonus item for your troubles instead? The delay is to fix as many bugs as possible. The beta cannot be extended fir the reason that the timeframe for the delay should be focused on fixing bugs and not on feedback. Player feedback would only be more of a hindrance du5rimg this time. So... special bonus item for backers? In the words of Keiji Iafune "It's better than nothing."

"Like Witcher 3, Uncharted 4, GTA 5, The Last of Us, and Bloodborne?" Well, I was thinking more along the lines of ME: Andromeda, PUBG, Arkham Knight, Alien: Colonial Marines... and the biggest one of all time..... No Man's Sky! Here are some more, if you are so interested: http://whatculture.com/gaming/12-hugely-delayed-video-games-ended-sucking Well it is a forum for fans, nothin wrong with being a fan boy here, it is encouraged. I am an Obsidian fanboy as well

A better quality game than what? I think it is no sign at all. Almost every game I have ever followed has been delayed at some point. When games are delayed so often I find correlations hard to prove. But everybody who is not drawing conclusions is delusional? Based on what? Or is this some kind of joke? I think the claim that is some kind of hyped title suggest it is, because no way PoE 2 is hyped. The press cares but not much, and most of us just want a game as good as to the first game. A better quality game than the game that was originally in poduction. I'm speaking about buggy games that are delayed for bugs to be ironed about. True we don't know why exactly Deadfire was delayed but it's not far off to think it would be bugs. No, my comment isn't a joke and my comment wasn't aimed at anyone except for the people here comstantly defending the game. We don't really know if the delay is fir good reason, or if the delay will benefit the game so with that I cannot put in good faith for the delay but it is what it is. As to what exactly I'm comparing it to, I'm comparing it to every game in the industry that has been delayed for the reason of a developer and publisher saying the game has been delyaed for polishing. History has only proved that it never worked. Delaying a game hasn't really ever benefited a game, so many examples come to mind on this.

Don't worry about it, if it gets too hectic, a mod will intrervene.. Usually as the game gets closer to release, the forums get more toxic. I think this happens on alot of forums but you're right, some forums are definitely more mature than others. I wouldn't doubt if your thread got reported by a few members out of sheer desperation of "winning" but at least we have level-headed mods here which I'm grateful for. In my short time here, mods have always been supportive for me which matters more than members supports and those who have been against my name hate that fact and wish I would leave which I never will. I think it's more their worry and doubt which causes members to display their agreession towards people they know deep down may be right. "We don't want your crap here, you fool, go away!" is the general atritude youll see here if someone sees something they dont like or agree with but I mean, it would be nice if we saw something more intelligent like "Maybe I should talk to them and see why exactly do they feel this way, or maybe I should send them a p.m." It's also not uncommon for birds of the same feather to flock together so because your innocent thread is considered (by them) as negative or threatening to the product they look forward to, expect group up of fanboys to troll hard. And even more cowardice, some may mention you in another post because you ticked them off without trying. Just letting you know what to expect hehe
-
The members here are going to troll this thread so bad lol Well, they already are... As for your question, I don't see anything wrong with your post, I know it will generate heat & to be honest, this isn't the best place to ask as it's an Obsidian fanboy forum and most active peeps here are backers. That means bias will craze the cult and if you're not with them, you're against them. So keep your head high and keep doing what you're doing. As this has been my experience plenty times. Obsidian seems to be going to a strange transition right now, hard to know what they're doing exactly or what they're thinking. Realistically, they could be so maybe, maybe not. All I know is that they are losing staff which is a distraction. Waiting for people to call this "click bait" or compare you to me Sheeple mindsets never fail.
-
And then SonicMage117 shows up to concern troll. Yet another thing we had no way of predicting.I'd ask you what exactly about my comment is trolling to you but you'd probably just throw insults per usual. You'd be right. Leave it to the fanbase to put up the defense of "They're delaying to polish things" but never in gaming has there been a delay which produced a better quality game. So it's crazy that people keep living in that delusion. This is obviously not a good sign. All we can do is hope for the best, but don't hope too much. When the game launches, we'll see how smooth things are exactly.. for now, as fan boys we are encouraged to join in the hype!

Time to install Hollow Knight again! https://youtu.be/UBxtfDAtVTY Romance options? Yes. https://youtu.be/fn2h-TgB6IM Thanks Shady, I'm one of those folks that doesn't venture into the Pillars section (any more), on account of my dislike of Pillars. I do have some mild interest in Deadfire, though. Not enough to go into that section of the forums and follow development, but enough to keep an ear open in case someone says something like "Obsidian put about 95% less filler combat against trash mobs into Deadfire versus the first game, plus the story is more compelling too." It's not the best rpg they've done, that's for sure. In fact, it's nowhere near but I really enjoyed the religion-inspired lore. Hopefully Deadfire has less combat filler and more story and lore. -
Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Henry's come to see us!
SonicMage117 replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Computer and Console
The game is so different than the original vision. Check out the Steam forums, or KCD Twitter. If you follow the devs on either, you'll see constant apologies from the devs on how it changed so much since the kickstarter days. If you ask me, the changes are for the better, both major changes and minor changes but this isn't done yet. If course I'm talking about the story and general mechanics of the game, we all know the graphics were downgraded for the console versions so that's not worth talking about I guess. -
No way to defend what is happening at Obsidian right now. Obviously something is going on behind closed curtains that we do not know about. Yes, we know about Katrina leaving but who knows who else or how many others? Exactly, we have no way of knowing. I wish Obsidian the best of luck. Eager to play the game, but these are bad signs. Troubling times in the kingdom, indeed, it would be foolish to recognize the signs as a positive thing but may we excuse this with our love for Pillars!

The TNMT movement was pretty cool in the 80's and 90's. They had everything from shoes which glowed in the dark to awesome foot tall action figures. I remember even playing the SNES games with family members and friends while eating pepperoni cheese pizza and sipping on cans of Pepsi (when Pepsi actually tasted like Pepsi). I seem to recall Pizza Hut commercial featuring the TNMT as well. Something aboyt that time where they just fitted perfectly. I'm not sure the turtles will ever be as popular or make such a splash.

Finished Dishonored 2 Shadow playthrough on Hard difficulty. No kills, no void powers. My reward? Shiny new achievements to show off on my profile to the world. Never did beat Alien: Isolation so I'm working on it tonight. Trying to cross off games on my backlog.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Henry's come to see us!
SonicMage117 replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Computer and Console
Indeed. The game is so different now thab it was from kickstarter beta or even at launch. I wonder how much more it will change. -
It amazed me that nobody here remembers when the turtles started... They were all black and silver and had lots of gore. Only later were they transformed into green turtles with the glow and the dark ooze created by April O'neil's father. Decapitations and ripping out hearts was common. This all was bred in 1981, which was later changed to be more marketed towards kids... Thus, adding colors to make turtles recognizable to children and censoring the turtles' dasterdly deeds to make them seem good more than nuetral and somewhat unstable.

Unity is indeed, a great engine. Hated by many who fail at being familiar with many other titles which use it. If I'm being honest, just one of those things where Obsidian isn't the best at utilizing custom or licensed engine which is the issue. Unity is not the excuse, Obsidian's poor programming management and optimization skills are but we can hope that Deadfire is much better as they have learned alot since the first game. As it were, Unity has seen some of the best looking titles to date - whether 2D or 3D games, up to par with any Unreal or Crytek engine game we can name but don't tell people who hate Unity that, instead just tell them to look up Youtube videos. The real power that Unity Engine possesses is that it's the easiest emgine to outsource to any given platform. Wanna transfer your game to be playable on Android? 3... 2... 1... BAM! But yeah, no problems on my system, sorry that you guys had a horrible experience. I was one of the lucky ones If we can do anything to help, let us know! WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!

I will agree to this only if there is also a toggle to switch off any and all references to heterosexuality. Equality, right? As it is, a toggle for avoiding lesbian, gay and bi characters makes about as much sense as a toggle for avoiding people who like strawberry icecream. Yes, of course. I think there should be that option in any case. I would not impose my morals on anyone, and would expect the same on my behalf as I am not responsible for how any one plays or how should they play it. Neither are devs, according to their responses on such issues. And yet they try to "force" these choices on the players. I believe that is why romances seem to fail easily in rpg's.
