  1. Yeah, I laugh whenever people associate these articles of clothing, style or pets to anime. As if they didn't exist before anime or as if anime culture somehow made them popular or brought them back - it didn't in any way. Sailor Moon has cats, therefore everything with cats must be inspired by anime. A new catholic school opened and the girls wear uniforms with ties and skirts - must be anime. A guy spikes his hair, must be anime! The list goes on as such but as said before people will relate things to things to like or favor, perhaps it is because they simply cannot grasp the idea of something different so forcing something familiar is the only option. For ex. "I hate my life, so I'll inject something I love into everything I can so I'll get a little ray of sunshine" mentality. Kind of a strange approach to relating to the world around them though. I mean, anime isn't real and is based off up of existing fictional/non-fictional ideals (magic, fantasy, fighting, etc) but yet in the person's mind everything is based of anime. We are living in the "reversed mindset" generation. They're giving credit to the wrong thing. Anime has never introduced anything new, it hasn't revolutionized any industry by any means but someone out there will act like anime is god because. Indeed it is good fun though, as long as nobody gets offended
  2. Hello fellow forumers, I don't think Ydwin isn't the problem here, never was lol It's the ever growing argument that started out as a harmless joke and somehow snowballed into an Obsidian version of a Civil War I don't think Ydwin was ever meant to cause this kind of ruckus - at least not like this! However, it only takes one person to say "Ydwin is Anime" to create some kind of chain reaction as we have a mixed bag of emotions from passionate people with different tastes. My opinion: I find it's a strange side-affect with anime fans these days. They tend to try to relate everything to anime in some form or another. YouTube is a great example of this. I was watching the new Mummy trailer and couldn't help to look at the top comments, there was on that said "Tom Cruises' scream was so anime!" And it had an insane amount of likes. I'm not sure how a scream can be "Anime" but okay. To that fashion, in some way, I'm strangely reminded of the situation of a bad breakup with a girl/boy, after the breakup you begin to see that person in movies, music, hell even billboards, even though they're not related to the person you broke up with in any shape and form, you, as a person, make yourself see that person in things - point being that people can make everything relevant something else if they so desire... and then argue it with "Well that's how I see it" or "It's my opinion". The anime audience is still very niche (unless you live in Japan that is) but they are very vocal making them appear as a much larger group. Making everything related to anime might be some way of making their voice get heard or something along those lines. Like the Steam reviews for a new localized game that reads "Buy this game to support localization of this company so we can get more anime visual novels, jrpg, dating sims on Steam". I guess people will always push what they love, even if they do it innocently (unaware). Please don't hurt me!
  3. I talked to the developers of Strafe last night (via messenger) and they said the game is 1 and a half hours long but will take you many times to over that to actually beat the game. Also, they plan to add alot of new content that didn't make it into the game. I'm curious to what exactly that is, new weapons or levels - perhaps something more. Seems like it will be an interesting game although I'm still not sure when I'll be purchasing it.
  4. I don't hate anime (I play and love anime/waifu fighters) but I think the constant comparison of Ydwin is pretty underwhelming. Even if it started as just a joke, it's been dragged on to be well... a drag on lol However, I wouldn't mind a Jrpg mode... that's what anime mode would really be, basically, right? I imagine "anime mode" as an 8-12 hour short linear side-story hehe Not a bad idea for dlc actually! Ydwin would be a playable character in a village of elven waifus and such. Who knows.
  5. I don't know about that. I've been a huge fan of this game, bought the box version on original release and the Steam version just for the exclusive mods. The first thing I think of is Jeanette and the club with that song from Chasm lol The haunted house level is good but I don't think something like this work well with this game. The camera angle calls for different type of gameplay as it is.
  6. I absolutely love eyepatches on female characters... not sure why, I have been amazed by them for years now. Only on girls though lol
  7. Yeah, I think the majority of the backers wanted sea monsters and didn't want or care about the fishing lol The thing is, fishing seems to be in alot of modern rpg's, it's become somewhat of a standard thing but it shouldn't be - well there is no reason for it to be anyway. Like others say, I expect sea monsters in the dlc, I also expect alot of shippy stuff and things of that nature. You must be a very patient person
  8. I really hope this thread didn't come off that way, that was not my intention but at the same time we are somewhat responsible as well because we are the funders of tgis particular project. I don't look at it as questioning Obsidian's actions but more like giving helpful feedback for the next run. Also, I think Fergus and the team will care enough to read this and take it 100% seriously. I'm pretty sure they already asked themselves the very same questions. They're very smart people, Obsidian, but sometimes community response points out some things they would never think of otherwise.
  9. I will miss the sea monsters, I too, didn't care too much for the fishing.
  10. Well, it's finally over and it was greatly succesful. It may or may not bug people that we didn't make that next stretch goal but let's talk about the campaign as backers or as fans (all the same). What went right? What went wrong? Why didn't we reach the last stretch goal in time? (So close but yet so far!) Was there anything you feel that Obsidian could have done differently? Was there anything the community could have done better to spread the word? Thoughts/Input and tips for Obsidian's possible next game campaign... post them here. I want to hear your story and opinion. Are you happy or mad that we didn't reach the Fishing/Sea Monster stretch goal or maybe you just don't care? Let's share! AND CONGRATS OBSIDIAN!
  11. I'm not too sure I would go that far. Jrpg's are mostly made of the all too similar anime-esque characters. Maybe that's not a bad thing considering they sell well but the originality of the designs and backstories are mediocre at best. I would say that the Japanese recycle much more than Western/European designers have. I'm hoping for Darksiders 1 gameplay, I also didn't necessarily care for the lootfest in Darksiders 2. I also hope that Vulgram (spelling?) plays a much bigger role. Still one of the coolest merchants I've ever seen in any game to this day.
  12. Ahhh... I'm sure that she would have been an awesome character to me if this released a year or two after Darksiders 2 but I have to be honest, she looks awfully generic considering how many scantily clad women we have in games that are dressed similarly and with a similar weapon as well. I think that's why she doesn't have that "wow" factor for me. Looking back at War and Death, they still have that factor because there's really nothing like them as far as other games. Still, it'll probably be a day1 puchase for me as I have loved this series.
  13. The Strafe trailers are epic. Very Judge Dredd-ish. It's nice to finally see Darksiders 3. I'm not sure if I lie the main protagonist, at first glance she doesn't have that "wow" or "cool" factor that I see in War or Death. Maybe the gameplay will win me over though.
  14. I loved Dragon's Dogma on PS3. Only problem was the resolution and fps gave me a headache, it's on my list to get on pc though.
  15. Did you get [E]? You absolutely need to get [E].I wish that someway, somehowThat I can save every one of usBut the truth is that I'm only one girlI'm itching to give that game a full second playthrough something fierce. But I also don't want to let my backlogs grow... That was beautiful
  16. Last night I played a few minutes of Retro City Rampage. Underrated goodness. Here's a 90's Strafe like trailer for good measure. Enjoy!
  17. I feel like the new Prey is a futuristic Dishonored game. Me, personally I don't care for it but it takes alot for a $60 game to catch my attention these days so that's my excuse. I might try it... but later when I know more about it and it's on sale. I can't wait for this game though
  18. Ohhh... I have System Shock 2 in my library and I haven't even started it!!!! I just know that a.i thing (Shodon?) is an awesome antogonist from what I read on the net. Been tempted to buy but heard that an enhanced edition was coming out or is already out? I believe so, I don't think it's out yet though. I think the reboot of the first comes out next year iirc.
  19. Ohhh... I have System Shock 2 in my library and I haven't even started it!!!! I just know that a.i thing (Shodon?) is an awesome antogonist from what I read on the net.
  20. I know what you mean, I don't get alot of time to play either, when I do I get maybe 30 minutes... if I'm lucky I get a few hours in a day. It's rare I get 5 or more hours within a day. The PS4 is a nice system, it's got some great exclusives. Bloodborne imo is better than Dark Souls, Uncharted 4 is good and Gravity Daze is really nice. All the others too.
  21. Source? It's always nice when they also remaster the DRM. http://www.system3.com/constructor-still-under-construction/ They removed it from the platforms on theor page. I'm pretty sure the Steam version will be drm-free I'll ask to make sure though.
