He has a point... Actually both of you have good points... I hate playing the mediator... Ultimately, whether we like it or not, things are based on money not quality. Popularity, not correctness. A game has to sell itself.
If they manage to pull it off and make it work well, it doesn't matter. Problem is I can't quite see how they could to that... Only solution would to make character have some experience but not enough to level up I think. Unless they make the character level 2-5.
Yah, Hades wins this one, but he has the better argument built for him. Anyway, we still win if the main character is lvl 1 but more than 0 exp. Also, Hades, are you a hero? I would think you get a level in expert or thug.
Now the important question is what happened to get you in self imposed exile? Anything important would have given exp, so I must find some insane technicality loophole... I'll find something to get through... Give me a sec...
Maybe he's at level one but not 0 exp? That's the best I could do. Sorry.
10-15? That's only in videogames my friend. In the jedi lore 10-15 is too much. Infact, even in some videogames (JA), 10-15 is too much. A fully trained jedi maybe. Someone with favoraable circumstances, maybe. A jedi neophyte....
Who said that they use shields in starships. The only evidence i have for this statement is that no one has shot me down yet. Also, war technology develops fastest in war. The republic had little high level encounters in this war I think between the sith and "modern" SW. Also, shields have gotten stronger and ships have gotten faster. That's a major change. Efficency has increased but looks around the same generally. Lasers are also much more powerful.
Yah, if Hades is right I agree with him. The thing is I have seen no definite sources saying that you saw action or start at lvl 1. I can accept that I am quite possibly wrong. I just don't know.
I'd agree a mention would be good. But about game dependence, the devs said in an interview one could play TSL without playing KOTOR 1 and be fine. There will be explanation of what happened.
In the books all the time they reference particle shields. They keep micrometeorites away and solid matter. Energy and the like is kept at bay by the energy shields. The particle shields are up and running even while not in combat. Usually when just shields are refered to, energy shields are what the books are talking about. If they specifically say particle shields, then you can guess what they're talking about.
Related, but not 100% dependent. You can diverge, but only when you have a way to make it work out in the end, don't do it often, and have a good reason.
Not really. I'll admit actually, I'm curious. But a mention at most. Or maybe s/he vanishes until KOTOR 3. Whatever is fine. Except for an actual appearance.
Medically things work. Does anyone remember shields (on ships) being mentioned in the game. It's possible we can say that they had the superconductive metal instead of shields. Also, the fleet was huge. for its time... Has anyone read the NJO? THey have hundreds of thousands of capital ships fighting per side. Not to mention snubfighteres.
P.S. Hades, that last comment was either really ignorant or really arogant.
You make it work. Adapt the rules. That's one reason I prefer the Unisystem to the D20 system. So much more adaptable and less restrictive. There aren't drawbacks in the d20 system also. I'd just make a drawback "Out of Touch" in any other system. There's a way to make it work in the D20 system. It has to be roleplaying based, not stat based though. Statistical the person can use it, they just can't bring themselves to.
