  1. Somehow I got Payday 2 for free a few years ago. I'm unclear on how that happened.
  2. So since Far Cry 5 has my attention I decided to get the earlier Far Cry games (at least 1, 2, 3, and 4, although I realize each of them is distinct and not necessarily indicative of how Far Cry 5 may turn out). I started playing some Far Cry 3 today, which has been entertaining. I'm not able to play much as I am also trying to pack up everything I have to move next week.
  3. E3's fun, but it's definitely not as relevant as it used to be.
  4. What kind of mods are there that could possibly make Fallout 3 worth playing? Aside from one that turns it into Van Buren, I can't think of one. As hard as it may be to believe, there are people who enjoyed playing Fallout 3, whether modded or not. Not that I find it hard to believe, but we're not addressing my opinion of Fallout 3. There's a reason Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 happened, and it's not because Fallout 3 was widely perceived as a bad game, nor did it sell poorly. I'm not saying it's good because lots of people enjoyed it, just pointing out that your comment's premise is deeply flawed. A look at Metacritic might even tell you why many people like it.
  5. To be fair Bethesda took a risk when publishing Fallout 3, especially given the reactions of fanatic Fallout fans.
  6. So with each of the first three Mass Effect games I played marathon sessions with them as soon as I got them and finished each in under a week (I'm not saying a week is fast, just providing a benchmark). I played six hours of Andromeda before the game was officially released (thanks to Origin Access) and I have yet to get back to it. It wasn't the eyes or expressions or really any bugs. I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't hold my attention the way the other three did.
  7. A fictional Himalayan country, ruled by the dictator Pagan Min. Also rebels called the Golden Path. And....that just about exhausts what I know about Far Cry 4. :D
  8. Got my beta key. Downloading now.
  9. It's a great game and the main chracter is great. Soma is also a great horror game I need to finish Soma. I got partway in but got sidetracked. And I really enjoy Alien: Isolation. I'm not very far in yet (would be farther but I tried to sleep for a bit), but it's been great so far. I've finally met another living human on the station. I'm in a bit of a horror game phase right now.
  10. Apparently the character will be customizable, maybe there will be female option. Yeah, that's what we were talking about.
  11. I kind of figured you were being playful but it's early and sometimes I take things literally. Before anyone says anything, I also think that pre-generated protagonists have a lot of advantages over customizable protagonists. And then we get games that hybridize the two.
  12. To be fair, customization is also in Saints Row, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, and several MMOs. Character customization is a good thing. Yes, it has opportunity costs in other ways, but overall it has several advantages over a pre-created protagonist.
  13. Obviously the main character will be a babyfaced, inexperienced youth that will have his notions of the world challenged by a more charismatic villain. He will also chase collectibles endlessly across an open world for no reason whatsoever. I mean; this is an Ubisoft game, I know what to expect.Or you know... it could be an older man, still in the military, therefore has to keep a clean cut for service and his wife and has survival experience Did anyone expect Far Cry 5 to be in Montana and the enemies to be Duck Dynasty clones? I think not, either way, we'll find out soon enough. I'll laugh even harder if it's a female character. Im sure people would start whining about Ubisoft being feminists all over the net then lol Either way, I'm going to buy it regardless of what the SJW's and ubi haters say on Twitter and Ign, I'm thankful that Ubisoft is always pushing the envelope. That's what makes the Far Cry games so great (except Primal which did suck bad for alot of reasons) Edit: Here's something that was also interesting: Oh man, here's comes the heat! :D If it's on the west side of merica, those need to be Mormons. Very religious military armed isolationists with own compounds that defy govt from sticking nose in. I REALLY hope it's that and we deal with cults. If it's the east coast, then those need to be Tennessee or Georgia mountain, but the isolated good ole boys (squeal for me piggy!) aren't as zeolous or military as the Mormons though. Mormons be a much better choice bc it's already there. To be fair, the US has had its share of isolationist religious cults that aren't Mormon. It's not unrealistic for the game to give us one that isn't. Just for one example: David Koresh. As far as the game's premise, it seems interesting to me. I'm not sure if I'll buy it since I don't usually buy Ubisoft games.
  14. It's on sale right now, on both GOG and Steam for 25% off. I can understand wanting to wait until it's on more sale, though.
  15. Starpoint Gemini 2 is free on Steam today.
  16. I'm not sure about this game. It looks intriguing and off-putting at the same time. It's not the gore, more ... IDK, I'm just torn.
  17. It looks like the discussion is over.
  18. From a technical stand point, yes, people are wrong for saying that 90's games are better than today's games... I'm not going to let people tell me that games had better sound, graphics, user interfaces, controls or story-writing back then than they do now. That's what I said wasn't an opinion but fact. The first game was created in 1947, the 90's games are much better than they were in the 40's and 50's just as today's games are better than the 90's games. Liking them is another thing. I never said there was anything about it being wrong to like older games better. My all time favorite game is Sonic 2 on Sega Genesis. Nothing will ever take the place of Sonic 2 in my heart but I realize and acknowledge that is nostalgia which makes it so. Your generalization was that 40 year old women wouldn't like Dishonored. As for the rest, you're doing it again - whether something is "better" or "worse" is largely subjective. If people love the Baldur's Gate games and think they're better than Pillars of Eternity, this opinion probably takes several factors into account other than technological advancement, and your decrying their opinion as nostalgic and biased because they're claiming a game is better (as opposed to the semantically identical "I like this game better") is exactly the point of contention. Also, by your explanation in this post, it is impossible for any game that preceded Mass Effect Andromeda by that much time to be better than Mass Effect Andromeda. Yes, ME:A has a lot of issues with facial animations and other bugs, but it still makes use of modern technology, which is what makes games "automatically better" than the 90s games in your argument above. Just to elucidate my own stance, I much prefer most modern games over older games, although there are several older games that I still enjoy. There are a few games that were published in the late 90s that I do not think modern games have touched or exceeded, however, and for me those games are definitely better than any comparable modern offering. This doesn't make me biased or nostalgic, it simply means I have an opinion, and for me, that opinion is correct. Since I am not making a judgment about what anyone else enjoys from games past, present, or future, it is really irrelevant whether my opinion is "objectively correct" whether I think a modern game or an older game is better or worse, as it only shapes my gaming habits and what I might recommend to others based on what I know of their tastes. It is further irrelevant because my opinion is based on playing these games more recently than 1999, especially since they are available and run on modern machines thanks to GOG. And constantly arguing that such opinions must necessarily be objectively wrong is exactly the point of contention with your posts.
  19. It was where you claimed that your views on which games are better or worse were unbiased or objective whereas other people's were biased and subjective. And you keep going on about how people think 90s games are better are wrong, and as far as I can tell that's just going in circles over and over again.
  20. I was not generalizing, I was just giving an example of person, who never played any games before 39.8 of her age, who prefers to watch/play older games over new games. Nothing wrong with you loving DH games. I like them too. I just avoid playing them when my gf is home ) Nah, you didn't make any generalization. It was someone else. You were specifically talking about your girlfriend, which is the complete opposite of a generalization.l
