Planescape Torment: Special abilities and spells.
Belle Sorciere replied to kensu's topic in Computer and Console
If you right click somewhere it'll move the wheel to where you just right clicked. I don't have the game installed to check how you close the wheel, though. -
Eh, I'm a woman in my 40s and both Dishonored and Dishonored 2 are in my library. Generalizations aren't often useful. Anyway, I see my point was missed by a mile. I have no problem with people liking 90s games more than modern games. There are a lot of good 90s games, and I'm glad many of them have a new lease on life thanks to GOG. There are a lot of good 2010s games and I'm glad they're around too. Anyone who says they like one or the other more is just expressing an opinion and doesn't need to be shot down because someone else has a differing opinion. There is literally no need to be on a crusade against people saying the 90s were better for games. They're not hurting gaming. They're not hurting games. They're not hurting anyone, not even themselves. And yet here we are with a guy writing walls of text about how there's something wrong with this and how it needs to be stopped. The case that hasn't been made - and can't be made, honestly - is why people need to stop preferring the 90s. 90s nostalgia is harmless.

I kind of think it only makes sense to go on at length about people thinking the 90s were better for gaming if people were actually going on about thinking the 90s were better for gaming. While I can't say no one has done that around here (someone probably has) it doesn't look like it's happened recently in this thread. And such a judgment is necessarily subjective and thus not really something that can be labeled "right" or "wrong." For that matter, your (SonicMage117) judgments are also subjective and thus not something that can be labeled "right" or "wrong" or even "unbiased" or "objective." If you stopped doing that, there'd probably be less pushback against your comments.

I have a hard time seeing how they could build upon the possible endings of Life is Strange and be true to the characters. But maybe they'll surprise me. I'll check the game out either way, though.

What are y'all talking about?

While I was aware of the kingmaker AP, I wonder why they took exactly this one, given that it's very much like a sandbox afaik, in complete contrast to most of the other ones. I'm also wondering where there is a need for a lead writer when they will most likely just implement the AP. Unless there are huge additions in terms of content, what will avellone exactly contribute to an already existing storyline? Dialogue, for one.

I've become less picky about games as I've gotten older. There are games in my library now I wouldn't have looked at ten years ago. I do try to avoid outright bad games, but I suspect some people here may have different criteria from me in judging some games as good or bad.
-
Thanks for the Alan Wake news - I've been putting it off for awhile and clearly I have to get it now.
-
When I preorder new games I usually buy them from GMG for the discounts. So far all of my keys obtained from them remain intact. I've also purchased several games that were on sale on GMG. Overall, it seems to be a pretty decent merchant site.

Did you buy it on GoG? Did it run? I've had it on Steam but could never get it to run, but GoG seems better about that.

Darksiders III Gameplay Reveal
Belle Sorciere replied to SonicMage117's topic in Computer and Console
I'm getting it. I like what I saw in the video. -
I'm looking forward to Darksiders III. And seriously, if the devs were "kowtowing to SJWs" the protagonist wouldn't be in high heels.

New/Modern Games You Would Never Touch...
Belle Sorciere replied to SonicMage117's topic in Computer and Console
I'm not hearing impaired but I have auditory processing issues, so games without subtitles are lower on my list. I mean I still play them but I miss some of the dialogue just because. -
A whole lot of re-releases on other platforms is what'll happen most likely. Failing that, I do hope people will realize how important archiving virtual data is and so nothing'll be lost. Failing that, well... There's still shady places of the internet that'll have your back. Yeah, true. I archive a lot of my Steam games but most of them need Steam to run. That said, this worry is not high on my list of priorities, because there are definitely options and Steam probably won't go anywhere.
-
I don't think Yeah, I've never found it to be all that bad. I totally understand the concerns about DRM but since I run Steam all the time it doesn't really come up. And yeah I do occasionally worry about what will happen if Valve goes under or Steam specifically dies for some reason.

Yeah what the world needs is video games where portraying a member of a fascist regime is being one of the "good guys." Why is that a bad idea? I think it would make for a really interesting story. Presumably many, if not most, people working for the Empire truly believe they are in the right. They still view the Emperor as the Senator who took charge and stopped the war before it could spread further, bringing peace and stability to the galaxy. They've bought in to the propaganda. The game could reference famous moments in Star Wars lore, but show it from the Empire propaganda point of view. Any Star Wars fan would know that isn't the true perspective on it, and obviously anyone buying Battlefront II would be a Star Wars fan. Well I mean I don't really like the idea but by the same token I love playing Imperials in SW:TOR so take my sarcasm for what it's worth.

Yeah what the world needs is video games where portraying a member of a fascist regime is being one of the "good guys." Also I think TIE Fighter actually has you remain Imperial throughout the game.

Was the SC+BW remaster mentioned previously in this thread?
-
I am totally going to get that game.

New/Modern Games You Would Never Touch...
Belle Sorciere replied to SonicMage117's topic in Computer and Console
I own games on Steam, Uplay, and Origin. Admittedly all the games I have on Uplay were free and I haven't played them yet. I'm pretty happy with Steam, and Origin has meant that games I previously owned on Steam but were glitchy there work fine via Origin (Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins, specifically). -
I purchased the STALKER games like six years ago but never got around to playing them. Well, that's not true - I played Shadow of Chernobyl for a bit but got sidetracked by something else. So I've played a little bit. Putting it into my "games to play" category though.
-
Ah, thanks for clarifying. Yeah, I thought you were saying something you weren't actually saying.
-
I didn't say there wasn't anything more to roleplaying than stats. What I asked was how you're playing a role when that role is constrained by your own skill. It's not a bad thing to be able to roleplay a character that is good at things that you are not necessarily good at yourself, and I don't think it detracts from an RPG to be able to play characters that are not entirely dependent upon player skill. Your definition seems to run counter to what an RPG is.
-
I don't know - how are you "playing a role" if your own skills determine what you're capable of? I'll take Dark Souls as an example where I think the reliance on player skill + gear + actual stats that improve your performance still qualifies as an RPG, but Stalker doesn't seem to fit the criteria at all.
