  1. Ahh yes. Warbows. The assault rifles of POE. Also remember a pistol that gives a sneak attack bonus. Ambushing priperty. Name escapes me.
  2. Sabre of the seas is good, but you will come across better sabres later like bittercut. One of the best stilletos early on is Azureith's stiletto, The zap on hit helps a lot. However, be prepared to ditch it mid to end game, due to it's lmited upgrade potential. Stilettos I used all game: Oidreacht and Misery's end. They can be upgraded full to superb, even legendary, and you will recover health when fighting. Bleak fang is good for the extra DR penetration but it will also hit a wall in terms of upgrading. BTW if you dual wield stilettos you will benefit from flick of the wrist on both hands. For pistols you can get forgiveness fairly early and it has a speed enchant. But for pirate, maybe a blunderbuss? Lead spitter will tear through armor.
  3. Is it me or is llengraths blunt wisdom underwhelming as far as implements spells go. I seem to get more damage out of kalakoths blights. Plus it's slow as hell. Even the black bow is better at bringing down single enemies. I've got half a mind to reload before the bog dragon fight and take the free talent. +1 to perception and int seems a better deal.
  4. Yeah. You wont get the exact stat spread, but you can use the talents listed there. It doesn't matter since you can compensate with gear for crappy stats. For Eder look at the fighter builds in the builds thread for inspiration. If you want specific recommendations someone can help, since I rarely use fighters in my party.
  5. Look at this thread for ideas: I used Kana for the chanter build. Hiravias for the druid build. And Aloth for the wizard. I subbed in ranged implement talents on Aloth instead of melee. I custom built my Paladin and Priest. Pallegina comes fairly late in the game. Durance is only useful for his staff which I swipe. After that he sits at the stronghold doing escort duty. My suggestion is to have priest with you, regardless of party build.
  6. Yeah on POTD it would help. On normal, it can probably wait. Early on you may be better off using whatever you get your hands on. I used durance's staff until level 5 or so. Then switched to dual wielding sword of daenysis and march steel dagger, to finally settle on ruffian weapons with dual sabres or stillettos. The good news is ciphers are fairly cheap to Respec. You can always switch weapon focus talents later as better weapons become available.
  7. Il tell you a little secret, race and culture change nothing in the long run. Regardless of race and culture combo, you always get the same number of stat points. The main difference is the racial bonus. As such your race should be based on playstyle. Wood elf is good for ranged characters. Coastal amaua for toughness. Hearth Orlan for roguish types. Boreal dwarf will make your life a lot easier for the first 2/3 of the game. For stats, I suggest a balanced approach: M:15 C:10 D:15 P:15 Int:15 R:08 Regardless of playstyle I would suggest your first three talents be Greater focus, Draining whip and biting whip. After that you can focus on ranged, two handers or two weapon style, or even go defensive. If you want to specialise in slaughtering Drake's and dragons, get the two backlash talents. Apprentices sneak attack is always good too.
  8. Evrytime you walk through a door, the game creates an autosave. Use the autosave from just before entering card Nua.
  9. Question about sword/pistol and recovery times: If you fire your pistol, then want to cast immediately, what is your recovery time? Is the shot time +recovery+ reload of the pistol, or is it just the casting time? And if you switch to a different weapon, than does the switch time come after the recovery time, and then you cast?
  10. Dual wielding rapier and dagger is an excellent combo, since you you can get a very good dagger and rapier early in the game. You can also dual wield stillettos which somewhere between a dagger and rapier. Either way you need a backup weapon for Pierce resistant enemies. In this game dual wielders are more offense oriented and they tend to be low defense, but that depends on your class. The beauty is that any class can dual wield, whether it's a fighter or a wizard. It's up to you to flesh out you character concept. Each class has its ups and downs. If you are playing on normal or hard, any build can be made to work. And if you screw up, you can Respec. The deadfire pack adds some nifty pirate gear. A hat, a belt and some clothing that's pirate like. I actually built a swashbuckling cipher dual wielding with the company captains hat!
  11. Pull the enemies away from the canoneers and do them slowly. After that sneak through russetwood and durgans battery to snag ninagauths black pages
  12. You can enter WM around level 5, giv or take. I tried doing it fairly early just to get my hands on a particular grimoire. You can clear most maps around level 7-9. I was able to finish the WM main quest around level 11. I think I gained 2 or 3 levels just in WM. There is an optional tough fight you can leave for later, and I suggest you don't trigger the bounties yet. I usually do all the Defiance Bay side quests and leave act 2 unfinished. Before starting WM. The main reward for WM is quite good and very useful
  13. You can mix in premade and custom if you like. The priest with the personality disorder is an easy candidate for replacement. On my latest playthrough I kept Kana, Hiravias and Aloth, and custom built a Paladin and Priest.
  14. Actually you can get everyone but pallegina in Act 1. Excluding the WM companions of course.
  15. That temple gave me headaches. Those shades are hard to hit, and can stun luck your party. Come back later. If you must do it at level 3, take in a whole six man party with at least one priest and one offensive caster (druid or wizard). Equip every one with a one handed weapon. Defense means nothing since they can damage you.faster than a level 3 party can heal. You need to out damage them asap. If you have aloth, have him cast bulwark of elements and beat on the spirits with concelhauts staff.
  16. The mechanics requirements are fairly steep. I think the highest required is 13 or 14 for a.durgan stash in Longwatch. I suggest dedicating a character to mechanics since it will eat up almost all your skill points for the first 12 levels or so, not leaving room for much.
  17. Has anyone done the math on dual wield sabres, vs dual wielding stillettos, vs two speed weapons like sword of daenysis plus March dagger? It would seem the second two options would benefit from flick of the wrist. Plus the speed enchants 20% would allow you to wear heavier armor, or forego the gloves of Swift action. They are not a reliable drop anyway.
  18. I'll be honest I'm at level 15 and took down the three dragons and slaughtered the bounties. The level 16 feat is just a throwaway afaik. I still have wm2 and mowghrek left. I'm looking for efficiency in killing trash mobs now. Started a second run with a cipher now. Lockdown coronavirus = lots of free time.
  19. How does sneak attack interact with kalakoth and blast? Does it only hit the primary Target or blast targets also? Might just pick up veterans recovery or secrets of rime if it's primary target only.
  20. Cool. I just never heard it called it blue stone Sceptre. My fault for never reading beyond the stats section. It's my favorite implement, and the damn best one you get until you get the ability to make superb weapon. For those that don't know, enchant implements requires double the crafting components.
  21. The staff will also level up by killing non beetle enemies. It will.be just longer.
