I just picked the game up again after not touching it in several months. I've wiped my phone since then and lost everything but there have been 2 new content patches since so I didn't mind starting over in story mode with a new team. After finishing story mode I figured I would start quest mode to outfit my team with all the shiny gear from chests. I was optimistic in thinking the dev's would have done something to make quest mode less endlessly grueling and boy was I wrong. I am just really disappointed to be level 5 with a 5 man team and finish a long game that comes down to 4 life and not even get enough experience to level. The experience rank scaling is completely off putting and I think I'll just have to put the game down again until the next content patch and just stick to story.

Seela (hospitilizer str/wis)- Str/Cha checks. Utilizes best Melee/Heavy armor boons. High average combat. Trait ability gives her high averages for most checks. Can explore 2-3 times easily a turn not to mention crusade which can be up to 2 more with self sustain. Weakness - armor/weapons clutter the hand discard any extra weapons and recharge armor at the end of the turn because you will most likely draw another. Lini (wild warden/wis/str)- Wis/All checks. Utilizes best Divine boons for team utility. Trait ability lets her succeed at nearly every check. Tons of self sustain so can easily explore 2-3x safely. With a Scythe +1 can be a very reliable fighter due to exploiting D4's. Weakness - pretty weak in combat without her 1 weapon. Sollution Ezren/Harsk Ezren (Evoker-INT INT)- Int/arcane checks. Utilizes best Arcane boons. Recharges nearly everything he uses. Easily takes down areas/enemies that penalize weapons or high toughness bosses. Trait bonus explores usually Closes Academy/Thassilonian dungeon/Apothecary in 1-2 turns. Heat metal/Orb of Firestorm can be very helpful team aid (especially to lini's Sycthe. Weakness - On occasion runs out of nukes and can't fight. Very few explores in the deck and can be pretty dormant without abusing his trait. Solution: SMOH, Father (noone else needs them in this comp) Harsk (Tracker-Dex/Dex- Dex/Con checks. Utilizes Ranged/Light armor boons. High average combat. Trait can save the life of a hero who gets caught off guard (another D4 for linis scythe). Recharges explores and self sustain after role. Weakness - Hand can become cluttered with weapons. Solution - use his trait on almost all combat checks even if it seems like overkill. I chose this party wanting to have a hero who specialized in each stat close while taking advantage of all the best boons without fighting over them. I prioritize heroes who can solo/self sustain and get as many explores into a turn as possible.

Bug: Quest location looping.

If it is intended I implore the devs to give us back the Guard Tower. There just isn't enough experience gained per encounter without taking advantage of bonus enemy encounters. Leveling seems to take so long that I'm dissuaded from playing heroes outside my initial maxed party. -
Has anyone been able to work around this and continue the mission? I just encountered it for the first time after farming Zombie Horde with 4 heroes for about 7 turns and the thought of forfeiting is really depressing.

Ah yeah I only encountered this in story mode. Did you try adding new versions of the locked heroes to a party before quitting? -
I try to catch who gets what and how much at the end a quest but it goes so fast. Does everyone get all of the experience? Is it all put in a pool throughout the scenario and divided equally at the end? If experience is split, is it divided to heroes that are already max level and don't receive exp?

I've encountered this problem and I've found what fixes it is starting the game with a party they're already in and then forfeiting and quitting out completely. -

A few cards not working correctly

Affirming the Major Cure issue. Sometimes I get the extra card sometimes I don't. It's like it's choosing the extra card first and if the card it chooses got shuffled in with the first die roll then when it goes to recharge that card it's not there. -
I was playing quest mode with 4 players Ezren was at location A Lini was at location B In Lini's exploration she came across a goblin Warchanter. Lini attempts to use her crossbow and is then prompted to roll wisdom which with her animal ability she passes with ease. Lini then adds orb of firestorm and the game adds the 2d4. Then Ezren, from Location A Tries using Incendiary Cloud which has the attack trait so the game makes Ezren roll wisdom. He fails the check, then Incendiary Cloud gets returned to Lini's hand.

I meant before you ever see what's on top. After the dice is rolled it gets flipped off the top like the poison trap.

What finally worked was deleting the sav file inside sav slot 99 while the game was running and then exiting. -
I think you should click the ability, it adds the dice with the cancel option like a blessing would, and then after the roll the card gets chucked automatically without interaction. I bet the On blessing or spell recharge is what's gumming it up.

I know, and it's probably the right thing to do. But it was pretty widely encountered and talked about pre-patch and has gotten no Dev love so I'm hoping the more widespread the posts are maybe it can get some attention. -

This troubles me every, single, game. I understand bugs happen and it takes a while to work out kinks, but I have tried to get friends to play this game and they didn't have the physical card game experience I had so when something doesn't work instead of realizing it's not working right and working around it they just get confused and frustrated and give up on it. -
I agree the locations seem very stagnant, I think this is obsidian toying with random too much and trying to use an algorithm to keep things balanced when It should really be as easy as picking them at random. I find the lack of haste at 40 disheartening. Currently a party of 37's and the hopes of seeing haste at 40 has been my driving force. So much for the carrot on the stick.

I admit my findings could be skewed my confirmation bias which is why I've waited so long to make an assumption. I have not kept a detailed account but I will in the future. The fact is it's not very often I have 2 Augury's in hand and when I do it's not common for me to use both of them back to back and it should be a lot easier for a dev to either look at the logic or manipulate the scenario to test it.

While on the subject. I wish it was more like a copy+paste of Lini's ability code in terms of simplicity and automation. I have a problem with dragging the card off the deck into the graveyard like the pre-1.02 bug where selecting heroes for your party was glitchy and you had to hold it and drag it up first. Why doesn't it just flip a card off the deck into the graveyard?

I know this has been mentioned and posted including by myself but I will reply to each of these threads so long as it persists! It's not just for things like recharges either. If a monster has a before you encounter check like blackfang, if you try using inspired grace it checks it against combat. This is also abusive as a means to not only see what's coming up next, but you can use it to recharge Cure/Major cure at a closed location or a location with a barrier with no difficulty check. 0 against your 1d6.

I chalked it up to random chance before but I have encountered this at least 6x now. After casting augury and moving something to the top of the deck, in this case the henchman. I cast augury again hoping to see what else is underneath it but I always hit the same 2 cards that were on top before. I don't think the deck is being shuffled after augury moves a target.
