I'm on my way to get a certain talking sword and ran across some Greater Earth Elementals. I have everyone's blue furry perv in the party, and he hits them with his hand morter which does the greater of slashing and piercing. Greater Earth Elementals are immune to slashing, so I expect the gun to do piercing damage enough though their armor is greater than the gun's penetration. However, this is not what happened. Instead the attacked used slashing and did no damage.

So in my previous game (which I gave up on for a number of reasons) I had a crew member who would absolutely not heal. Now that same crew member (I'm guessing its scripted for Irrena to get cracked ribs) was healed up to 1 day, at which point I ran out of medicine. I got some more but then her recover time jumped to 5 days. I'm playing the current beta as of May 19th 2018, but I understand that to be the same as the stable branch. The game was started yesterday with the same build.

Ship Crew Injured, Not Healing

In the new game I started today, my crew member is healing as expected. -
Blessings of Berath
nstgc replied to Not Hypebringer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Not really. I'm pretty sure that is meant to just give a nice boost early, as opposed to a large one that means something through the entire game. Personally, I feel these are rather cheap. If this is to be a New Game+ system then I feel as if you need to, you know, beat the game first. Like the +2 to all attributes is amazing, and you can earn it within the course of a couple of hours. That also means you can earn the +50k gold which then lets you buy ship upgrades so that you can unlock more stuff and then you can have the +2 attribute buff and the bonus skill buff. +5k gold is reasonable for a "I didn't like this character so I rolled a new one," and bonus skill points is appropriate for "I got half way through the game, did some side quests, but wanted to reroll," but the +2 to attributes. . .not so much. Not in my mind. That should require a play through. That said, I really like the idea of BoB. Replaying the same character really doesn't appeal to me, but starting a new character sure does. I'd rather not load a save containing some "you won" tag, but this works out rather well. -
There is a difference between a gameplay element that gives you +2 all stats cause you earned a bunch of achievements, and a console command cheat that makes you unable to die, can max all your stats, give you infinite money, etc etc, and requires being enabled through text file editing. Ah. I reread your post and I see. Since BoB is a reward, it counts as a gameplay element where as the console is merely a part of the game. Yes. The console, by the way, doesn't need to be enabled. Its available by default.

Or the same person. MG has been posting the same threads all over forums. That said Deadfire is in desperate need of higher difficulty overall. Dragon fight has been very unthreatening. Not even close to Sky Dragon. One thing I notice is that AI doesn’t seem to target squishy units. My back line of ciphers and wizards is pretty much left untouched. I just fought xaurips who would properly use stealth and backstabs. Suddenly things got more interesting. AI needs to be given more tools, or utilize them better. Be that as it may, claiming a game is unplayable just because it isn't hard enough is beyond childish. Complaining because a game is too hard, while also incredibly annoying (since you just want to smack the players and call them an idiot who needs to uninstall) this WOULD be unplayable. If a player finds a game too hard (not that PoE1 or 2 are anywhere close to that level) then that player lacks the capacity to advance as surely as someone with a CTD issue. In the case of the game being too easy the player could proceed but chooses not to, apparently in a fit of rage. Which is weird. Not that I'm an advocate of dumbing games down (in the Stellaris forums I repeatedly spoke out against the creation of an easy mode), but I just want to point out how asinine these complaints are, especially in a game which allows for mods. For example, change XP scaling. If you are such a genius that you can play the game in your sleep, then figure out a way to make it harder. Example, in my current game I am refusing to use Empowerment, and I don't rest outside of inns. As for the AI, I'm actually finding it to be competent enough, especially for an initial release. It does seem to have a problem with re-positioning, however. Ranged units will hit the squishiest target in range, but won't move an inch to get closer to something that is even squishier. Occationally it can get confused, however. My Watcher is the talkiest character in the party, but is a pure caster (Wizard+Cipher). The Wizard buffs make her insanely tanky, especially when combined with the Cipher's own buffs. It seems some enemies are hard coded to go after casters and ignore the traditional tanks, which are in fact less tanky. Well, if you enjoy combat the game is unplayable. You can watch it, but not play it, if you are in for the combat. You barely have to make any strategy. It's so easy that you can let the ai do all the work and kill everything with few hits. The only thing that can kill you are high level traps. That makes the game boring and spoils all the fun. Good thing the devs will fix it and make it in an actual game Unenjoyable and unplayable are two very different things. The game can be played; you just don't want to. As I said, Call of Duty is not unplayable, its just unenjoyable FOR ME. Since you are having difficulty telling them apart, here is an example of unplayable: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97587-entering-engwithan-digsite-arena-sub-level-causes-freeze/ It is literally impossible to get past that due to a CTD. That is what it means to be unplayable. Its not that the player chooses not to continue, like the OP, it can't be done.

I don't see why not? They don't affect any of the current achievements. I wouldn't be surprised if those achievements specify not using (positive) Berath's Blessings. I would be surprised. I have never seen a game developer spend time to build a gameplay element, and then penalize the player for using said element. That is the definition of bad design. Also just to be honest, other than the skill bonus, and stat bonus perks, there is nothing these perks do or give you can't already get in game anyway. The console disables achievements entirely. Just saying.

I've been waiting for the game to get patched up a bit before starting my first real play through. I understand the the Vela and Eder bugs were fixed, but are there any other bugs present that when fixed would make me wish I had waited before starting a new game? I'm not talking piddly things like "POTD isn't hard enough. . .totally unplayable" or "sometimes the game crashes" or "sometimes weird things happen and you have to reload."

And a thread OP that seems like it’s not even deserving of a dev reply due to the attitude. Yet the devs are magnanimous nonetheless and honor him with an undeserved response. @OP For reference, this is what "unplayable" looks like: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97587-entering-engwithan-digsite-arena-sub-level-causes-freeze/ As I've said before, I hate Call of Duty and games like it, but it isn't unplayable, its just something I don't want to play.

Just trying, or rather testing, it out as a potential solo PotD character. I am not sure whether INT is all that important for Warlock, for Evoker/Berserker Nature Godlike respectively. Went to the extreme to see limits with INT 4, during Frenzy having 1 INT (4-5) . Took Fan of Flames and its a mini-cone! Nevertheless, Frenzy + 5 MIG and 2 PEN, MMMs to open with - > mini-cone when enemies at melee -> 71.6 damage at level 1 (not a Crit). Full MIG, CON, PER, dumped INT and RES. The idea is not to pick spells/abilities where INT is essential, there are quite a few in Evoker (Enchanter)/Berserker trees, open up with Infuse With Vital Essence -> buff -> Frenzy, alternatively open up with Frenzy -> soften up with spells (not the mini-cone!) -> mop up with melee carnage from Berserker passives. INT is needed for buffs and debuffs.

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I reloaded the level later and that fixed the problem, however this isn't an option for those poor souls playing Ironman. Also, to clarify, when I say it didn't take any damage, I mean that it didn't have any effect at all. Nothing showed in the combat log. Also there is no circle under it under and circumstances.

Ship Crew Injured, Not Healing
nstgc replied to Reposter's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm having this same problem. I have an injured crew member who has "6 days to heal" since she got the injury. More than that amount of time has passed. She is resting (the three slots in the bottom right), and I have a surgeon (in the surgeon slot) and plenty of medicine. For what its worth this has persisted into the beta. -
I'm in Engwithen Waystation Level 2 and found an Imp that is unkillable. It can't be targetted, and when I tried nuking it with AoEs it didn't take any damage. I took a screen shot of me nuking it, but for some reason the shot came out all black. At least I can show you where it is. Note that I am playing the latest Steam Beta as of May 16th 9:40 PM EDT.
