Alot of demo's are produced near the final shipping or short after... very few would use "early version" as an excuse atleast. And no, most demo's are not like that. Most are level 1 or part of the begin or whatever and therefore totally not the best part of the game (Fahrenheit, BG2, Freelancer, DS2, Rogue Spear are just a few examples)

Like buying stuff to make your stripped down version fully functional for gaming
-
Hmmm, how would one test a game without shelling $50,- nor getting the full copy for free (cfr. Piracy)... Hmm, difficult... very difficult. It is so difficult I nearly base all my game buying stuff on these things... DEMO'S

Any games for the AGEIA PhysX processor?
Hassat Hunter replied to jaguars4ever's topic in Computer and Console
First see if UE3 (yeah, UE, from Unreal Engine ") will not be released around the time Nvidia and ATi made their cards that way that PhysX is not even needed anymore... (for an cheaper price... well actually a bit more expensive, but... seeing as you also get a GPU improvement...) -

Tempers have cooled I think. NWN 2 DM Client
Hassat Hunter replied to Judge Hades's topic in Computer and Console
Ofcourse Malachor V is complete... and how AWESUM that HK-Factory was... un-imaginable! Several storylines that got started never got finished too... and not because of the needed plothanger ending... Wish I had your convidence Selfish...selfish... The chance that I will not use the DM Client is very high, yet I make this many fuss about it... Arguing for arguings sake? Nope. Arguing because I "need" the DM client? Nope. Arguing because I am too stupid to see reasoning? Nope. Arguining because I expect a FULL PACKAGE and equeal threatment of gamers (both the SP'ers as the DM'ers)? Yup. Is it irreal to think that when a game ships it should be everything? Not really. It has been that way 100% of the times in the future. NWN2 is the first who lacks doing that; and hear the praise for it! I am quite fearsome too that if NWN2 sells very well before DMC it gives a sign to other devs to just chunck out incomplete games onto the market with a "promise to give the promised content later" (which is NOT good). Only for that I hope it will ship as a total and complete package. And for the DL size... no idea... not the point either... Well...dum dum dum...it actually is. But Volourn already explained that above... (EDIT: Well, 2 posts above) And what part of the UT2K4 sellers do you think uses Onslaught, eh? Could we call it a minority... hmm, perhaps we can... do you know? Cutting stuff 'cause of "It's just the minority anyways" is NOT good nor is cutting cause the stuff was just for some weird reason I cannot seem to come up with incompatable at the very last moment... -
No. Valdis did not want the PC to tell in his hometown what he found in that Temple on Greilyn. He happily wanted to use them to get to the temple (to remain mainly undetected himself) but not that they would tell of what he did over there... Is it that hard to understand the storyline? I should praise the creators then for making such a complicated storyline in a hack&Slash... too hard even for a PS:T/KOTOR2 player "
-
Because a RPG-veteran *cough cough cough* cannot understand it. Ofcourse it makes one wonder how he finished PS:T and Kotor2 and BG2 and such while understanding what happened there... or did he?
-
And this makes sense. He really didn't want the main char to tell of his finding in his home town... This demo is not representative for the full product... Error message 001: This is no demo Error message 002: They are two totally different games
-
Well, maybe the amulet was not the artifact. Look good at the back of the temple when you enter that temple... Valdis never was after the amulet, but after Drevin saw he was going to die he just wanted you to have it for... see storyline! That would actually be my writing... not reading...
-
Wait. STOLE the amulet? He never stole no amulet. He had that one from childhood, and gave it to you (the PC) just before he died... And what do you mean with attack the mercenaries because they didn't have what they wanted. As that Makes. No. Sense I repeat: You cannot understand the storyline of a Diabolish game. Sad.

All? Hell, they have even no idea how many they are going to make. Which is the point of the whole episode-deal... But an other question to Bokoshi would be; Is Emergence already filled with the SpyWare they want to implent in order to follow the exact progress of gamers 24/7 they play the game to "alter" furture episodes?
-
I just think it is wrong to play the game differently from what the game designers intended to have. It is not so much the stuff (nudity) that got cut but the fact there got things cut; and not because the producer/dev wanted so but some politcians. Same reason I have SA unpatched, even if I don't have Hot Coffee installed and probably won't... And I believe editing this quote to hold more thruth might be in order

Tempers have cooled I think. NWN 2 DM Client
Hassat Hunter replied to Judge Hades's topic in Computer and Console
OE said Kotor2 was complete " They might not even release it. " Haha, you make it sound like the DM inside the package would cost the consumer more cash, while the DL would cost them nothing. But ofcourse it is both free... one just screw the costumer by forcing them a large DL that is now just an empty space on the disk that could be filled and thus save them that inconvenience of buying an (here the main issue comes) INCOMPLETE GAME and then completing it later by (not even certain to come) fixes... Let's make another comparisson. With UT2K4. What if you get that game then see major seller point gamemode ONSLAUGHT was not included and had to be DL-ed like say, 20 days after release. How would you feel? -
"checked his stats". Kind of difficult for an enemy only appearing in a FMV-sequence for that specific fight " Hey, wait, you talk about Drevin now? He never stole no artifact... lol... Really, after clicking on the gate watch the movies. Don't skip them; as you "might" loose track of the story... Well, it is like Diablo and not like Dungeon Siege... MS decided they had to cut into AI cause it made it too difficult for the common folks. With the expansion the AI they wanted to have shall be included (hopefully also for this campaign, yet nothing has been confirmed about that) A long long time ago somebody though up the This revolutionary invention must have slipped past Volourn though "

The Power of the Grey Jedi

Can be explained by the fact there is only one such crystal in the game; savely locked beyond an unopenable door in cut terrain... -
Do hope you got Fahrenheit: The European uncensored version... Your politicians really should get over the Hot Coffee stuff... it's not like they don't do it on office with the stagiar, eh "
-
Actually only C-3PO and R2-D2 can steal tech Don't ask more cause I hate the game and don't know more...

Thnx, that was quite an informative text. But with so many things that go wrong on making things suitable doesn't it make one fearfull when they just recently started converting the DMC, and may have it only finalised after retail launch. Finalised... without the proper testing and stuff. And I doubt a DMC is easy to test with the many things that should be possible with it... It may take a long while for us to DL it then; or it may be bugridden...

The Power of the Grey Jedi

*Sigh* And it seemed to make so much sense to me. Anyways; in the "How short is too short" you commented the crew can hardly make any map and quest progress with a half-done engine. I responded with a Why not? If they get conflicting issues they just return to an older copy of the engine and try it a different way or they adjust the content so it did work. You said that was not possible since that way there was no way for advancement and it would overly complicate things. It would also take more time than to just make the engine first and then all that later. Conclusion being engine had to be almost completely finalised before work on content and toolset could begin. Now the current thread steps in. IF they had so much engine adjusting etc. that the DM client of the original NWN didn't work, why didn't they find out sooner? As that had to be discovered then pretty soon at the begin of dev cycle? Or was there some content or toolset issue that made the DM client unworkable? Seems odd to me since these 3 are pretty much supposed to be independant (ofcourse the toolset is needed to make the OC, but that is not the point now ). Either they were really sloppy or your statement that the engine is near-fully-functionality (to the point of no adding of stuff that can cause inconsistencies; only minor things easy to adapt to all available stuff...) was wrong. Which would it be? Or did OE did do some major engine change so late that caused inconsistencies, not only dooming the DMC, but also being the cause of the major cuttings? Clearly you haven't learned yet. Content "patches" are supposed to cost between $1.99 and $2.49 There is even a worse part than these 2. The cutting of things without re-adding where the costumer can notice the cutting. So in order of being worse (lease worse on top): 1. Just cutting it. If that happens without a dev. EVER noticing it would be ingame it causes no damage to anyone. Afterall we didn't know about it; so how could we complain? 2. Cut it and then offer it later. Face it; Folks don't like to get incomplete games. Even if they get the content later they rather have it right away. And who blames them? The longer it takes the more annoyed costumers get too and that isn't good for buisness... 3. Cut it and leave it noticable ingame (patch version). Worst a dev can have is actual cutting being visible ingame. Everybody cuts content out of there game but when you hide it really bad people expect to actually get it. If there are loads of hints to Factory X people expect to get there and finish that storyline. Patching it up helps to heal the wounds a bit but severe damage is already caused. 4. Cut it and leave it noticable ingame (non-patched version). Well, you cannot get any worser than this. Costumers notice missing stuff and not getting what they deem they deserved won't make for happy costumers. See the Kotor2 forums in May for example. Lockdown of the entire forums announcement and stuff remember?

Looking nice; very nice indeed MP RPG, eh... " J/K... Great movie... gives one alittle bit more faith in NWN2
-
Odd. All the info in it was given by you in the "How short is too short thread" in loads of posts. You no longer remember how you yourself described that the Engine HAD to be finalised before other work could be done? Just replying to the hypocritical "they only make games for the masses"; "DMC is for minority...screw them... we are more important" Haven't reached that yet it seems...
