Am i missing something
But keep an eye on the Restoration Project (sticky in General). They should be done relatively soon (boy; how do I HATE that word due to Kotor2) and should return TSL into (for a large part) what the devs wanted it to be...

Editing sound files
Wasn't talking about hidden files; but about extensions. If you view any MP3 in explorer do you see "*song name*" or "*song name*.mp3"? What things do you try in the ini? Screenshots and such cannot be turned to 1? Don't forget to save the changes made before clicking the X; and check if the file isn't made "read-only"

NWN2: Technical Challenges
How does one update the game without the game EXE?

Editing sound files
Hmmm... most likely you don't have the extensions shown... not getting far without that... (Tools/Mapoptions/Hide extensions for known file types deselect) And I much prefer WinAmp for playing and recording since you can just open all the files you want to record on the fly and record them; while with Miles you have to open file-by-file making recording without pauses and such alot more time consuming... And thanks for that link; that program has proven pretty usefull to me (downloaded it after you linked to it in Skeeter's Junkyard)... thnx again!

Editing sound files
What I did was just listen to them using WinAmp and then use a recorder to record what I was listening to. Worked like a charm... besides the result was taking up a lil' bit too much space... Others could record with lower harddisk required space; so it was prob. the program I used...

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Aye; but with my mag (which I quoted) they usually use pre-release versions that are not full nor given as "gold" ONLY for Previews. For reviews they use those that are certainly "gold" and thus as they ship in stores. If this did not happen this time I don't know if it was sloppy of the mag; or by Atari. If Sawyer wants to find out just mention it and I PM the adress of their redaction so you can send a mail (don't post it here; doubt they will love spambots much)... Yeah; I know. But there have been enough times already reviews in this mag came a month later because they got such beta versions or because the producer wanted an exclusive for a good score that they just halted with reviewing till they gotten a retail copy (actually representative)... Doubt they changed that "code" just for this game... But once again... if you want to find out for yourself; they probably wont mind answering the questions of a game developer...

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Which raises the question... WHY? Why send out an old Beta as "retail version"???
-
NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
The reviewcopy Atari sended them (they discussed reviewcopy bugginess around this rush-for-holiday-time somewhere else in the mag)... I doubt the publisher would send out older versions as such and get worse reviews; what good would it do them? Then again... they did keep sending out movies of older versions

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Kotor2. And I wonder how you could avoid it's bugginess. Okay; I didn't have crashes either... but did have a few gamestopping glitches and alot of the other mentioned issues. Not to mention the total lack of teammate AI Best way to notice the wacky AI (all given commands ignored; engaging standard attack)

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Translation (as best as possible; some words/expressions are hard to find English words for); It was a clouded night in Neverwinter. It didn't stop raining for days and many supersticious citizens feared that, after the war with Luskan, a new doom was threatning the city. Most people stayed at home and prayed the gods to prevent the impending doom. Thus the graveyard was abonded; yet this peace would be forcefully abrupted this night. Footsteps neared and a man in black appeared in sight. This man wore a cape hiding half of his face. He clearly knew why he was at this place during this dark hour. He got a staff from beneath his cape, muttered some words and knocked on the "zerk (what's that?)", who opened immediately. Then the man started to pull coffins from the grave. Mades crawled out of the bodies, no quiet meal for them tonight. A few spells later; the corpses raised from their coffins and moved toward the exit of the graveyard. The man in black nodded approvingly, his task was done. The dead lived once again... PRELUDE Previous mentioned event plays far from the main char however. In West Harbor, where you live, it is still peacefully and quiet. Not only did the sun shine for several days, there is also a faire in town. The tutorial let's you explore this faire quite extensively and learns you the various game mechanics. For example you'll learn combat and how to open chests with a rogue. After you completed these games, it is time for the true game. To true Neverwinter Nights tradition your vilage is being attacked for apparently unknown reason by hostile creatures. They are under command by some Githyanki, creatures from another dimension who rarely "honor" Faer

So few ... time for writing up a translation and posting it here... might take some time...

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
We have some here (Holland/Belgium)... (Or do you mean of actual players; not mag-reviewers with retailcopies?) Dunno; maybe the things they promised during the development; and now seem completely scrapped?

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Odd how he could tell me buggies were not that bad and fixed etc. and now everybody complains about unworkable copies; massive huge bugamounts and there is a patch on day #1... PS. How is it with the DM Client?

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Cause KOTOR2 had great potential... and I hoped they didn't screw up the same way with NWN2...

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Players Even some who don't care Quake 4 has 1.1x the poly's of Doom3 and rather play Wolfenstein 3D (cfr. me) So the game is now without PC... eh... Sry... but this is part of the game. One important part too; since you are FORCED to stare at it during the ENTIRE GAME... :'(
-
NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Well; sry; but some people do care in a RPG where the char does NOT take up 1/50th of the screen, but 1/3rd (plus gets zoomed in during cutscenes; instead standing there with text on the foreground)! Evolution of games makes new player wishes... and if you can't make up for them; don't make such a game (see Combat Animations)! Yeah; like Kotor2 "

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Then again that is 2D... compare the size of a Fallout PC compared to a NWN2 PC on the screen @Hades; OE's little pride; Bugs
-
NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Well; maybe one may care how he looks like. Do you pick the ugliest possible look for yourself and then stare at it for 40 hours for fun? @ Hades; I prefer it if my games do not crawl. We'll see if Atari "pulls a LA" before we can actually comment if the mod-community CAN act...

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
So they didn't learn of the fact almost every Kotor2 player had "Jesus Exile"? Together with the review I read (CRAWLING ANIMALS EVERYWHERE!) NWN2 sounds another miss... *sigh*

How to listen to the WAVE files in Stream Voice
Yes. But most players (*cough*WMP*cough) won't run these MP3's...
-
How to listen to the WAVE files in Stream Voice
You can select that during the install... but you don't have to. And KOTORs *.wav's will only generate static when run in WinAmp... only when converted to *.mp3 will they be audiable. Another way to make WinAmp run them is right-click; open with...; then select WinAmp and "always open with this program" And a small correction to above post... the "hide extensions" is inside Map-options of the Extra/Tools dropdown box...
