Turn-Based Strat?
Stupid idiot devs need to realize that most games become instantly better with coop support.

What are you playing ? (looking forward too)
Xenogears should have been an anime series. As a game, it was horrible. I loved the script, though. "I killed your father." "You mean my dad?!" "Yes." "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Supreme Commander
For those who didn't get to see the PC Gamer article, Gamespy has the first online coverage of the game. http://archive.gamespy.com/landing/supremecom/ Right now you can read the preview and some description of the factions. Interview with Chris Taylor and description of land/naval/air warfare to come tomorrow.

Best RTS?
I'd pick Dawn of War. The strategic points were sheer genius. Total Annihilation was pretty awesome too. I'm looking forward to Company of Heroes. Fully destroyable terrain, units with 'thinking AI' that take cover behind debris and flank on their own and 2000 animations to represent the complexity of their 'thought process'. Japanese Planescape:Torment
Well, it really sounds much MUCH more interesting than the competition's main title. FFXII should be ok, but as you say, it's pretty much just a rehash.

Ah, yes, I forgot about FM4. A fun game in its own right. It was well-worth a rental. Not sure if I would have bought it, though. Hmm. As for Lost Odyssey, I particularly like the paragraph you quoted. Emotional stories, heh.

No one really knows. No one really wants to know.

Yeah, it sounds interesting enough. Haven't been too impressed with Square's latest titles (FFX being the last one I had any remote interest in). Trailer has some nice music and style: http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=5860&type=wmv
