  1. Yeah, my main gripe with the game so far would probably be that they're bastardizing a known franchise. I don't particularly care, since I've never really played a MM game, but to those fans, this is probably similar to the FO/FOPOS fiasco. At least, they're not naming it MM10.
  2. Aye, I've pretty much outgrown 'standard FPS games' (much like I have 'standard RTS'). Deathmatchy run-&-gun can be fun, I guess, but I'm into realistic FPS nowadays. Tactical teamplay > twitch. Red Orchestra and Armed Assault/Operation Flashpoint 2 are pretty much the only games in the genre I'm looking forward to.
  3. Yeah, but you're not completely self-centered.
  4. Meta, seen any footage? In one of the clips, the PC casts an ice spell on the ground, around the corner of some pretty tall tower. An orc chasing the PC comes around the corner, then slips off the tower, ragdoll-style. Very cool.
  5. Yeah, because Fallout sucks.
  6. Whatever Bethesda does won't really affect FO3's quality. FO3 will suck because FO sucks.
  7. Hmm, after reading the rest of the interview, combat sounds like it has potential. Prominent use of physics is a good thing. Aiming at various body parts, body awareness, all sounds good. Too bad they didn't speak about multiplayer.
  8. Because your inherent biases matter.
  9. <3 Darwin awards
  10. I didn't steal it
  11. As an RPG, probably. I was looking forward to it more as an action game. We'll see how they pull off melee combat.
  12. Give it up, alanschu. You'll never win! Never!
  13. Developers can come up with awesome game ideas like FOPOS! We love devs
  14. Lies and innuendo, right?
  15. Speaking of ambitious features the only one I am curious about is the stealth model that's being incorporated into the game. What little I read of it seems to suggest it's actually good and quite a step up from past Elder Scrolls games. It's being developed by Emil Pagliarulo who worked on Thief: Deadly Shadows. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven't read much about it, just that shadows have been removed.
  16. You're right. It's an ambitious feature.
  17. No, I'm one of those "The whole thing is terrifying, actually. Would you mind staying around for a while? Just to keep me company?" "Why would I stay in this dump?" "There's no reason to be rude! You can leave now if you want!" "I'm only kidding, my friend." "Oh, silly me. I should have known you were only teasing. Please, come on upstairs with me." people.
  18. Wait, how is this their most ambitious game ever if they've removed half the gameplay features from their previous games and dumbed down the other half?
  19. For those who don't know, DirectSong http://www.directsong.com is some company with affiliation with Jeremy Soule whose goal is to expand gaming music beyond that of the retail version. Basically, it allows composers to create additional music after the game is released, releasing them in music 'expansion packs'. Guild Wars is the first game to have used its services. I just found out Morrowind's soundtrack is now available for purchase on it as well. The tracks have been remastered and are of higher quality now, and there seem to be bonus tracks (sample 16 wasn't in the game). If there's anything good I can say about Morrowind, it's that I love the soundtrack. The main theme is still one of my favorite gaming tracks. I'll be purchasing this indeed. As a gaming music enthusiast, DirectSong is a big boon.
  20. You couldn't even choose what color the protagonist's loincloth could be. Without such deep roleplaying options, it should be labelled a FPS.
  21. Don't bother asking. Just grab the spot. First come, first serve.
  22. Ah. I'm playing on wuss mode, though, so hopefully I'll have a fighting chance.
  23. New trailer available. http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=9525&type=mov http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=9525&type=wmv Setting is pretty cool. Other than that, though, can't say I'm really looking forward to the game. Too much RTS conventionality.
  24. Just started a grand campaign of Hearts of Iron II, 1936. Go Maginot Line go!
  25. Stop whining and do it.
