  1. For the record, 10 is the base, not 12. 14 should be +2
  2. Taiwan makes sense however, given history. I don't see them bullying the Koreas, Japan, Vietnam, Mongolia, or any other of their neighbours for that matter.
  3. Or Darth Launch...or Darkside, etc. etc.
  4. Still not sure what you're trying to say. I know reforms can cause turmoil. My statement was directed at the fact that China isn't going to get "nicer" as it gets more powerful. With or without reforms, China's likely not stupid enough to just go on a powerhungry conquering spree if they're halfwits enough about why their economy is developing rapidly.
  5. I never said freedom in economy means democracy.
  6. I have a feeling Modano will go with Dallas. EDIT: Where did you hear Toronto gets Allison? I can't find that tidbit.
  7. I'm guessing China isn't completely stupid and understands how a good chunk of its recent development came to be.
  8. Well, the Harbinger was headed for Onderon when he booked passage (the captain mentions that he was diverted from there to Telos) and that's not exactly in the outer rim... (In fact, it's in the "colonies" between the core worlds and the inner rim) So why was he going there? I mean, he didn't book passage on a ship that he didn't know where was going, I think... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why not go there? It also sounds like Onderon has some significance to his past. During his reflection in the Outer Rim he may have wanted to go there and think on what had happened.
  9. I was just thinking of the silly notion that the EU will align itself more with the US in face of the Chinese "threat."
  10. I think you just need to give them Juma Juice or something. I believe you can get some from the Bartender on Nar Shadda.
  11. I always thought the Exile was just bouncing around from planet to planet, and just happened to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  12. Goody. Cold War part 2?
  13. Cryptic.
  14. True. EDIT: Although I still contend that even on a video game board Bastila's popularity would be less pervasive without the romance. I also wonder if the quantity of fanclubs for Leia/Padme has more to do with the larger population base to take the samples from. I also didn't limit it to just a Bastila Phenomenon. I think it's why people hold characters like Annah or Aeris in higher regard too. And I think it has more of an effect if the PC the player is playing is more their own, which would explain the Viconia fans and whatnot. In any case, agreed to disagee.
  15. I take it you disagree :D
  16. Why should we be scared of China growing in economical and cultural power?
  17. Here's one that piques my interest. Considering seeing Fantastic Four just for her:
  18. I'd rather we get Modano.....can't see that happening however. It would be super-duper amazing cool if we could snag that Forsberg-Naslund package :D
  19. Have you looked into the study at all? The study certainly does not mean that people are no longer responsible for their actions.
  20. Yup. I don't consider any of the minor characters to be among the "sexiest" characters because we don't see enough of them. "Sexy" is much more than just a physical appearance, but that's not what this thread is about. But I still contend that it's the emotional involvment that creates the gajillion Bastila fan threads on Bioware's. Even keeping the exact same "screen time" simply making her a character in a movie would lessen her appeal in my opinion. People consider Revan to be 'their' character, so any reactions directed towards Revan are indirectly interpreted by the player as being towards the player himself. Emotional attachment is VERY strong, and in my opinion it's clear by the insane amount of fanboi threads, as well as the pages of fanfic of Revan's and Bastila's romance that people have a very strong emotional attachment to both their characters. You don't see this type of attachment very often towards movie characters.
  21. Yup. Unfortunately we have the misfortune of having hindsight. It's easy to say you'd still pick her, but the statement of saying you'd still pick her is still influenced by the decisions actually made. Unfortunately we'll never know, because all of our hypothetical decisions are still affected by the current reality. By not having Bastila a romance you would take out a lot of the personal emotional investment that, if you just look around the forum, many people apparently had. If we were to take things a bit further, and had KOTOR be a movie where no one would be able to claim that "they" were Revan, then there'd be less emotional attachment still. I suspect that if the Star Wars movies were actually interactive video games, with Leia and Padme as romance options (or any other character for that matter), they'd score a lot higher because you'd have people that would actually have some emotional attachment to that character.
