Well my intrest in NWN2 just tripled =)
If it would be Gaussian distribution. But it is uniform, so you can expect any value between 12 and 120 with same probability. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not Uniform. For instance, getting a 12 or a 120 means you have to roll the exact same value for all 24 dice (either all the highest or all the lowest). Since it's 24d10, your probability of doing either is (1/10)^24 Look at it with two regular dice. The probability of getting 2 or 12 is the lowest, with the probability of 1/36 (1/6 * 1/6). However, you can get a 7 by rolling 1-6, 2-5, 3-4, 4-3, 5-2, or 6-1. Your chances of getting a 7 are 6 times higher than getting a 7 than a 2 or 12. Though I did just make an estimate about the expected value being 60. With rolling 24d10, between any two pairing of die, you'd reasonably expect 11 to be the highest probable value. With 12 pairings, that's 132 damage. 132/2 is 66. With some quick math, I'd say the expected value is closer to 66. But it is certainly not a uniform distribution.

Bloodlines
Both are quite viable. I found firearms useful in some areas, but with blood buff, a high defense skill, and armor you should have no problems. Even with my more firearm skill, I was able to make good on many areas with just my special katana. Higher level Auspex improves your wits and your perception, which are used for a variety of things.

It would do less than 40 damage 1/3 of the time, if it had an equal probability of doing 1-120 damage. But the damage is 12-120, with an expected value of 60. Using your equation, if the Familiar had 12 HP, then 120/12 would mean a 10% chance of survival. But, the minimum damage is actually 12, which means that the familiar would die 100% of the time it fails its reflex save. Get some sleep

Recommend a good action game
I was let down by the ending of CoD 2. I really enjoyed the game, but the end of CoD just seemed that much more emotional or something.

Errr...is your math sound? Why would you take max damage and divide it by the total HP? I mean, if Max damage = min damage = 120, then the only chance it has for survival if its HP is less than or equal to 120 is if the evasion roll succeeds. You'd need to do a whole schlock of work, determining the probabilities of each damage time and all that for yours to work. I mean, a guy with 1 HP and a Reflex save of +23432 is probably going to survive more often than not. Though you did comment that you didn't want to calculate the reflex save. Even then, if it takes 120 damage and has no reflex save...then how does it surivive 1/3 of the time if it has 40 HP?

That almost makes sense.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
They need an option to hide headgear... It all looked rather stupid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then don't wear it. I think options to hide headgear are dumb, because your character is wearing it. Make people make the choice between aesthetics, and having the uber loot.

Errr, not exactly.

Probably would have made sense to mention those details when describing it then.

Same. Taking back Red Square as the orchestral music picked up. Defining gaming moment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same with storming the Reichstag.

I'm not sure why the situation you described couldn't happen in the standard game.

24 tv series
Well, I figure if anyone comes into this thread, they better expect spoilers..... Well, David Palmer gets assassinated about 2 minutes into the show. Tony and Michelle are doing their own thing, running their own business, but she insists on heading back to CTU to lend a hand, given that they had done many profiles on David Palmer's enemies in the past. Tony is reluctant, and during his hesitation, Michelle goes kaboom to a car bomb. Tony goes out to pull her out, and gets put into critical condition as residual explosions happen. Chloe is off to work as well, and Edgar gives her a dingle about what has happened. Chloe, realizing she's the last person alive that knows that Jack is still alive, freaks out....rightfully so. She sees some people in a van and starts to run. She was able to evade her captors, and contacts Jack on a pay phone. Curious as to what's going on, angry that his good friend Palmer is dead, and willing to save his friend Chloe's life...he hijacks a helicopter and heads back to meet her and figure out WTF is going on.

Jack = uber-badass Even then, I could still see them killing him off. I'm predicting the kid (Derrick) this season as his heir apparent :D

I agree...the first thing I thought of was Die Hard as well. Though that part is now past. Feel sorry for Mrs. Logan....she's stuck in a rock and a hard place. And as cold as it may be, I actually liked that they killed Jack's wife in season one. It made for a less happy ending, which is refreshing in the world of Hollywood....especially TV shows. I like the fact that BAD things happen on the show, often to good people. Jack has to be the unluckiest guy in the world. And this season has really shed some light on people that were typically considered "invinicible" in this show. Outside of Jack, no one is really untouchable on this show. And even then, I wouldn't be too surprised if Jack bit it this season. I was actually expecting it to actually be his end in Season 4.

Ageia Physx
Fair enough. It was just that your clarification came directly after two other people were clarifying what PPU meant. I'm not much of a fan of calling things GPUs and PPUs and whatnot, as it starts to make things get confusing. I've always been Graphics Chip and expect to be Physics chip. But hey, that's just me. Hopefully I don't get too confused, because my PPU experience is definitely with respect to the Cell processor. Thanks for the clarification.

Mus says Brujah, but you could have also been a Toreador. Were you known for punching your way through things? Did you have an ability that made you hack computers, use guns better, and see the aura of an individual?

Ageia Physx
Only if you're restricting your definition to the Aegia marketting people. You also just pointed out a great weakness of Wikipedia. PPU is also the acronym used to describe the primary processor, based on the Power technology, that IBM is using in their Cell processor. http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/power/cell/ Generally, (as in when talking with IT people, or anyone who isn't aware of the Ageia card, about this sort of stuff), it usually corresponds to the IBM usage, not the Aegia one. It most certainly is the usage that angshuman was using.

A "Synergistic Processing Unit". It's a processor with a large amount of brute force but a lot less intelligence (that is why it needs an army of programmers to extract its full performance). The PS3's Cell is made up of of 1 PPU (Principal Processing Unit?) and 7 of these SPUs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it's Primary Processing Unit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, Primary and Principal would be synonyms in this context.

Oblivion: PC Gamer Praises in Preview
Roleplaying requires dialouge. You need to be able to express your character in different ways through dialouge choices to simulate you speaking as your character in PnP. Morrowinds "keyword" wikisystem made that impossible <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess this was a new development. Must have missed the memo.

For the Sheriff I used the Anaconda in the room. When we went outside, I zapped him down with the spotlight, and proceeded to fullauto is butt with the Killmatic.
