  1. When soloing the best point of citazel is the aoe dmg, with put that weapon far above everything else when fighting 3 or more enemies. I played for a while a citazel wiz, you just cast daoe, llengrath, citzel lance and martial power and start wipe the floor. Note that all this chain ( if you chain spell with SHIFT) take just slight more time than for a druid to cast the lvl 3 storm. When needed you have infuse vital essence for heal both endurance and health and combusting wounds for amplify dmg. arcane veil is a must in thoug fights or for smooth the chaining of spells. Also Ice fog is useful for blind aoe. This build Is very fun ( at least for me) and at High lvl you can have most spell as per encounter ( exept citzel and martial power) and that, combined with the health heal of vital essence permits lot of fights without rest, wich is pretty cool for the wiz. Going dual wield sabre can be best for single target dmg, but not a lot i think, since wiz with daom can reach a very low recovery even with a 2 hander. Spelltongue is absolutely cool for the elongation of self buffs ( that wizard have really a lot) BUT the dmg sucks really hard ( at least in comparison of other weapons you can have ( sabres/drawn is spring) or conjure ( staff/lance). +15% casting speed is barely noticeable, since most of your spells are already fast. And as a wizard is much easyer and safer cast a draining Wall for extend all your buff for the whole encounter. But these are just my opinion, i encourage you all anyway to try some new builds and post the results, wich in this game are often sweetly unpredictables
  2. A wizard dual wielding ( without any talent) and with daom is already at 0 recovery ( 50%+50%). If you take two weapons talent you reach -120% recovery, so you can have a better armour. Are you sure cautious attack slows the recovery after spell casting too? Edit: next build: a double sabre wizard... At beginning of fight veil + daom = 0 recovery, +50 deflection No just joking, citzal remains a better option
  3. Sorry for my previous post, was on my iPhone and i wrote it in hurry... Thks for the answers!
  4. If instead of fear aura crits you the dragon's breath you have to use another Word... :D
  5. Yes exactly. The fear aura of the dragon have a very High accuracy and will is your worst defence usually, so crits happens
  6. You get it during the boss of the iron flail fort ( the other human chiper). It gives you a +15 accuracy vs beasts aura... Is not powerful as a fully upgraded ryona brestplate ( which i think is by far the best armor in game) but have a strong effect anyway. Speaking of armors other 2 nice alternative for tanky chars are - Hunter plate --> for the massive heals - surprisingly also the sanguine plate. I never thought that going berserk gives you also +16 fortitude, as a direct consequence of +4 might, + 4 con. So you basically give -10 deflection for +16 fort and a nice attack speed bonus Another thing i "discovered" is that scroll of defence stack with llengrath potion ( but not with the +20 to all def from ryona armor). So against drakes my Orlan for easily a very good deflection: 110 "base" +20 llengrat, +20scroll defence/ryona +10 from racial --> 160 def If he go frenzy then 150 deflection but >180 fortitude :D Now also adra and Sky dragon are down. Next comes the archmages... Edit: btw Chanter is really a beast build defensively... The main vantage is that none of your action stop the singing, apart from invocation... Is the only char able to kill every around while drinking potion and casting scrolls! I don't even use invocation anymore in most fights, just to keep pumping dragon trashed, with maximized might ( 18 base (Orlan + living land) + 2 from reward talent ( machine + galwain boon) + 4 maegfolk skill +3 caed nua --> whopping 27 "base" with +3/5 more during fights) it deals about 90-100 dmg ( half fire, half slashing) to everyone around and without a time limit, sacred immolation pales in comparison...
  7. I have just slayed the alpine dragon ( solo potd no upscale). I tryed a "new" combo: Black guard plate (+15 acc vs beast) + slay the Beast chant (+20 accuracy vs beast) alterned with dragon trashed chant + drawn in spring with Slayer beast enchant. Went pretty smooth, actually far more i had expected. Actually i have quite not fight at all, since i just drank potion and casted scroll all time, while waching the dragon burn. The order was llengrat potion, scroll of defence, Battle Paint potion (+15 accuracy), renew and heal as needed. all defences were between 150-160, accuracy above 130. Maybe Would have been even better with dragon trashed alone. Sky dragon next, then adra
  8. Yes, you can swap at istant speed, go stealth, change again. In fact the mace is a bit underwhelming for a rogue, so is fine use it in second weapon slot just for the invis
  9. You have to upscale act 3 and wm 1&2 or is not needed?
  10. Wild Orlan, living land, max might, max con, dump dex, 15 per, 15 int, 9 res. Scientist for +1 mech & lore Probably i will respect for boss battles I think spelltongue is not worth on Chanter, you will not manage to overextend your buffs like a barbarian. Is just easyer to recast them
  11. You need to upscale act 3 and wm 1&2 or not for earn the achivement?
  12. Anyway there is 1 egg in the outside of roedric keep ( in a barrel)
  13. Yes but in solo it double his worthess, sice everyone tagets you anyway, and you can position in way that only 2-3 melee mobs attack you but all the ranged Sting pretty bad. Autokill wizard with that is awesome, concelhaut one time killed himself while trying to shot missiles at me, also the final boss suicided with a cleaning flame.
  14. Yes in the end i went for wild Orlan... Up to now is going Pretty smooth, i'm lvl 8 at half act 2
  15. Best is with the monk. Monk has an ability that reflect all the missed, aila breccia reflex all the grazes and 10% of all ranged attacks when durganized. So is super cool if you build around it, for example with a wild Orlan High defences monk
  16. Hey wait a second, the critical dmg multiplier applied to the base dmg of the weapon or at the base dmg multiplied for the other bonuses? I always thought is was like an additional +50% dmg alongside the others, So 20-30 * 1(base dmg)+90%+50% = 20-30 * 240% = 38-72 dmg Instead in reality it is : 20-30 * 1+90% = 38-57 And that get multiplied for 1+50%??? So 38-57* 1,5= 57-85,5? Wow, i never noted that after all this time, shame on me Edit 2 : this explained why droemel talent feels so powerful
  17. I will test your idea when i have time ( too bad not today) but i fear that if a dragon hit you with a stun or prone, that came also with a lot of dmg attached. So ok, let say you are " invulnerable" for 3-10 seconds because proned and still chant, and heal a bit in the process, but when you are up again maybe you have the time for one potion before go to the ground again... Dunno i'm a bit sceptic i have to try it for see if it works, i feel like you will always stay to the ground while they slowly kill you...
  18. Still waiting for your opinion costal amanua vs wild Orlan for the best defences vs dragons
  19. yes it is. With the scroll you have more accuracy and a more confortable area to hit everyone (the invocation is a cone, so maybe you miss some of the more near mobs). The vantage of the invocation is that is free.
  20. Good news, i tryed the fight again with shielding chant + 2 swift wind of death and worked good too. I just used the invocation for +5 might, +5 const, + 5 res and swift wind, skipped totally the bride invocation, was not a problem. I changed also the weapon, steadfast worked pretty good and helped landing the swift wind of death that are actually a fair enough killing dragon tool @ jojobobo: i played chanter a lot, i suggest you: phrase: swift wind (++++), +10 fort +10 will (++++), wengrith (++), arrow speed phrase (++), resistance to fear and terror (+), dragon thrashed (++++), whatever, shielding chant (+++), +20 accuracy vs beast chant or +100% healing chant invocations: lvl 1 : ghost (+++), white worms (++), stun whave/lighting spell; lvl 2: paralyze invocation (+++) healing invocation, lvl 3: seven nights (+++), +5 str, +5 cons, +5 res, (+++), ogre (++) or bride invocation (+), lvl 4 : nothing, lvl 5 : death instruments reasons: - ghost is very strong at the beginning - white worms can stack otrageusly high amount of dmgs with enough corpes - stunning invocation is strong enough, at higher lvls you can chain stun all the mobs while killing slowly them with winds of death - healing invocation can be an emergency button sometimes - seven nights is by far your best AOE dmg. The main reasons that put it over the tornado (lvl 5 invocation) are that the projectiles go trough enemies and can hit a lot of them when in line, or hit multiple time "big" enemies near; moreover it hits reflex instead of fortitude that is usually the weakest defence of the mobs (and with good timing and high int you can hit with it after the paralyze invocation, with massive bonus) - +5 to str, con, res : is one of my new favored, it traduces in +20 fort + 5 deflection, plus dmg and health bonus. Very useful whn tanking dragons - ogre are good meatsheilds (they both have 300 endurance more or less), so i think they are a bit better than bride chant when you need to soak up some dmg - 4 lvl stuff is worst than 3 lvl stuff imho - you have to pick at least 1 lvl 5 invocation, so your chant stack can go up to 7 (wich is useful for chaining). My suggestion is to invoke the weapon, they don't have the best stats and can't tank like the ogres, but have a lot of immunities and do good dmg. And the boiling spray is worst than 7 night for dmg. phrases: - wrenght is strong at the beginning if you need to escape or kite - +10 fort, + 10 will is strong vs boss fights to up the defences - swift wind will be your main dmg tool up to lvl 9 - dragon trashed will be your main dmg tool after lvl 9 - shielding chant is good when you have strong def, otherwise is solo expires too fast - i can't understand if in a boss fight would be more useful have +20 accuracy or +100% heal to regenerate like crazy with the vital essence infusion potions, but i actually don't use them often edit: like you already noted skeletron are crappy edit #2 : gallant focus is actually a very good pick because it affect the accuracy of phrases too
  21. During my trials to kill llengrath i tried also the shielding chant and the +20 accuracy vs beast chant, but the results were inferior to simply chain swift Wind + +10fort,+10 will chant. This for 2 reasons: the phrase building was much slower and doesn't allow for 7 night anymore, and the fact that the phrase is so long actually is like "disable" the effect of the +10 fort, +10 will chant, that is much needed... The effect in itself is quite strong indeed. Another thing: i have also thought for sure that a wild Orlan Would have been the best race for this, but after seeing how the large majority of dragon attacks are prone-based or stun-based i'm wondering if a costal amanua (for his +20 def to stun & prone) can actually performance better and give you better utility game-long, since they are by far the most common disable ( warrior's, monks, most mobs with cc have prone)
  22. Ok boeroer had the right idea: with the "courage" lvl 1 chant + swift Wind of death ( wengridth chant for +10 reflex was eliminated because llengrath potion suppress it) i was able to chain the two +5 stats invocation AND a seven nights ( doing really good dmg) before the other 2 expires. After some trials i was able to defeat llengrat in solo potd tanking both dragons ( no running around, i tanked them like in kylon video), so i'm confident i can try my run now. Btw boeroer was wrong about beign wrong: the +5 stats invocation gives you +5 to all attribuite when chained, so for example +5 str and +5 const --> +10 x 2 fortitude --> +20 fortitude. So yes, you can actually buff yourself +20 in every defence apart from deflecion. This was also changed in the last pach, before Chanter invocation had no effect on self. Thanks to everyone as usual for good idea and inspirations
  23. I'm looking the number: paladin's faith&conviction gives + Deep faith gives you +13 to deflecion, +27 to other def, that is clearly a lot. On the other hand, a "tanky" Chanter that chains the fist 1 lvl chant can have steady +10 to all defences exept deflecion, and starts with base +5 deflection. So paladin can have at max +8 deflection and +17 to all other def, but the Chanter on the other way can spam massive Ice aoe DMG or call ogres in support, so i think they are pretty even. I soloed the game quite easily with a Chanter at normal, the thing that bother me most are the dragon fights, the game itself will not be much a trouble ( in comparison my bare handed barb is doing everything fine up to now). Oh and with the Chanter i don't have to double check every dialog choice for bad disposizione, that is a huge plus
