Do atrocities come with an expiry date?
astr0creep replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
This is not the first time I read/hear such thoughts. The answer that usually pops ups is "We must remember the mistakes of the past so that we do not repeat them in the future" or something to that effect. I think this is the wrong to look at things. People should just lighten up and live their lives together. I think the particular incidents you give as examples only serve to feed hatred, frustration and racism among everyone. Also, too often those people who give their people's history as a means of bitching forget about some important details. Like Blacks selling other Blacks into slavery in Africa because even amongst them they had a concept of superior/inferior Blacks. Like the Jewish people that keep reminding the world that 6 million of them died at the hands of Germans in WW2 when in fact Nazis hated everyone, that gays and blacks, asians, handicaps, etc also died in the holocaust, that it was 6 million people that died, not 6 million Jews(although most of them probably were). I never owned a human and neither did my parents or even my grandparents. I accept everyone in my society and I believe everyone has a right to live the way they please. Why should I have to pay for things someone did decades ago? Why can't we remember without letting go? -
Looks like another "Hulk syndrome" victim... I just watched Dark City.

If glucose(not sugar) could be dissolved with warm water or even body temperature, there wouldn't be clogs in the extremities now would there? By the way, it is often forgotten but variations in glucose levels also affect the mood. It seems to increase emotional response. Many times a week I find myself enraged at the simplest of things or sometimes it is very hard not to cry for things as stupid as a movie with dogs in it(if you like dogs. It's an example!) I was not like that before. From what I've experienced I wouldn't be surprised if many road rage incidents were the result of a diabetic reaction in someone.

Of course you do! :D

This is sad and yet good. If she can lead a "normal" life that is. There is not much difference between her and people getting shot in the face, saved, plasticsurgerized and burn victims yet we don't hesitate in doing everything we can to save those. Why then would she deserve abortion? Wouldn't death also be preferable for the cripple and mutilation survivors?

I can just picture it now: Joe Shmo: "Honey, can you poor me a nice cool glass of my pee please?" Honey Shmo: "Of course smooshypoo" Joe Shmo: "Slurp, hmm... Slurp, slurp... Oh my goodness this is soo sweet!" Honey Shmo: "Oh Noes! Shmooshy you're diabetic!" Joe Shmo: "Noooooo! Thats unpossible!" The End.

Actually I'd blame site security. On the subject of DB, I was thinking this morning that if the problem is sugar crystallising in your capillaries surely you could go for a steam bath and the stuff would dissolve back into your blood. Provided you were drinking the right amounts of water you could excrete it/burn it off? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Water is essential for sure. Docs recommend 8 tall glasses a day(about 8x 750ml?) allowing a diabetic to pee out a lot of excess glucose. It also helps the kidneys. As for the steambath, it's an interesting theory. I'm guessing it would have to be very hot for a while because, as I understood it, crystalized glucose is like rock?

Why? And what do you think of the other Infinity engine games? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Although I did enjoy the story, I found the gameplay boring. Actually what annoyed me the most was the incredibly slow pacing and I wanted some spells or skills but it would take forever to get enough xp for a levelup and then all I had was 1 choice or 1 point to spend, after like 10-15 hours of play. It must be noted though that I had never played table top D&D before at that time and I found the whole rule system very annoying. Add to that the instant game over when the main character died(I understood why but it was frustrating) and how hard it was to gather enough money for equipment and resurrections of party members and I just gave up. I used cheats to fix what I was annoyed with and moved on. IWD was ok but with basically the same problems as BG1 with some improvements. I loved Torment because the problems I had with BG1 were irrelevant as it was a slow paced game more because of the dialog and storytelling and that is ok. the gameplay was essentially the reading. But my gripes aren't for the engine itself, more for the D&D rules and as the editions evolved, my enjoyment for D&D-based CRPGs grew. I still prefer FPRPGs like Morrowind, Wizardry and Ultima Underworld though.

I hated BG1... :"> I cheated to levelup so I could finish it faster. I never found or even heard of that ring.

I remember going on the search for Zidane's ultimate weapon. I eventually had to look it up on the internets. I had to send my chocobo digging on the right pixel... in the ocean. Without the nets I would never have been able to find it. This is the kind of game design that really pisses me off.

I will try not to scare you Wally... If your pancreas is genetically built to fail it will, no matter how you eat or the amount of exercise you do. However when it does, if you already have good living habits it will be a cakewalk for most of your remaining life(it gets harder toward the end because of the complications diabetes brings when dealing with other health problems).

Morrowind in just over 15 minutes

OMG! That was amazing! It usually takes me 40-60 hours to finish that frakking game! (w00t) -
I did QA on the Gothic 2 expansion Night of the Raven. I had never played G1 but I bought it during the QA project as I had some problems getting used to it since we were testing the German version and I don't understand German... Anyway long story. The expansion adds a chapter between the first and second because apparently C2 was very difficult mainly because there is not enough xp gainable in C1. The new chapter is very well integrated in the game. It also adds pirates! The problem I found with Gothic 2 was Chapter 1. It is way too long to complete and you spend most your time running away from everything while fetching this and that. Some quests are pretty good though and others rely on dialogs. Once C1 is done you hunt dragons. How bad can that be?

Don't you dare forget about The Goonies.

Are you using any interesting mods?

Sounds like another victim of Starforce to me.

I was looking for Night Watch, found it, noticed it was European so I checked and found it has Starforce.

I didn't find it funny at all, except for that spoon joke and the other one where the Sarge is running and gunning with his guts hanging from his belly. Hilarious! I can't wait to see the "sequel"

Dog Soldiers - Best described as Evil Dead with Werewolves instead of zombies and soldiers with guns instead of stupid teenagers. (w00t) But no boobies, practically no humour and no Bruce Campbell Lots of gore though... I enjoyed it.
