  1. But we in Europe are not subjects to Islamic law. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think an Islamic law is concerned here. I think it's more of an International law. Probably not a law at all, just common sense and respect of fellow humans and their beliefs. Everybody has the right to express their religion fully. Followers of Islam are very fond of their religion, it guides their lives completely. Since this drawing is a major sin, when they see it, it's like going straight to hell or something. Publicly showing this drawing is like feeding some Kosher meat to a Jewish person and reveal after they finish eating it that no, it was not kosher. Thats what I think anyway.
  2. When I was very young, I had a stuffed toy version of Curious George. I kept it for years and when it just fell apart in my hands I had to give it up. When I first saw the teaser for that movie, a tear pearled down my cheek. Honest.
  3. Well, this is from my point of view. I'm a big fan of DnD and start off as some lowly nobody. As I began my early stages of DnD, my friends and I meet these famed NPC characters that everyone knows and loves. In fact, they are even our own idols. You meet them a couple of times, never really get to know them until you are much higher level. When you finally get around their level or even at their level, they begin to start making friends with you, show you respect, and even ask for your help. That is one of the greatest feelings of them all during DnD is to have one of your idols see you as an equal and it could work in everyday life as well. So perhaps you don't get Revan and the Exile towards the last half of the game? Perhaps you are just a slave to some Sith on the Outer Rim and when you go and do your chores or menial tasks for your Master, you catch glimpses (cutscenes) of Revan and the Exile whether it be trying to recruit people in secret for their cause or exterminating a few prominent Sith when no one was looking. You gain a few levels and pretty soon your idols ask you to join their Resistance group which is in an abandoned warehouse. You start off as the lowliest rank and Revan and the Exile only talk to you to give out orders, but as you gain levels, they began to show interest in you. They raise you up a rank every few levels and soon you are an apprentice under Revan or the Exile. You start leading your own party to more covert missions, getting new recruits along the way to be in your party, and soon Revan and the Exile are coming to you and saying they need YOUR help. I would be very happy if that happened, just would make my character feel that much more important. Whether Revan or the Exile die in the end is up in the air (maybe one saves the other by taking a hit?), but I would actually like to party with them for a little bit if I have to see them go. They need to be a big part of the storyline, and I think my idea (while not perfect) is a good one at least. P.S. Constructive criticism please. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For some reason reading your post I was reminded of a fantastic game called Freedom Fighters... I really like the idea of having Revan or Exile as a Master and evolving with them as a Jedi/Sith. However not with both of them. Also, your story seems to be about a group of Rebel fighters. Rebels. Rebellion... Why would they need YOUR help? What's so special about you? In both KOTORs the PC was a special individual, a special Jedi/Sith and that is what made them unique and needed to save the Republic/galaxy. Being skilled and learning fast is not enough imo. Starting the game as an apprentice or even simply a force sensitive bum living off gizka flesh in a rundown lowlevel part of Coruscant sounds very interesting. As long as there is no stupid amnesia trick again.
  4. Except she's missing something...well...two things actually. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What?
  5. Gwen Stacy kinda looks like Jenny McCarthy in that pic.
  6. Female Wookies doesent exist, ST00PID! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What? Wookies just grow right out of the ground? Or do males lay eggs? In K1, wasn't it a wookie mother that killed that wookie slaver and made it look like an accident so her son wouldn't be heartbroken at the treachery of his hero? I always thought it was the mother...
  7. Hum... Freespace 2. The rest, before and after, are crap compared to it, SW or not. Others: Starlancer Tachyon : The Fringe Freelancer
  8. Would it be interesting to play as a Jedi Hutt? Force slime Sling!
  9. Hmm, Revan or Exile as your Master ,but then you would have to chose how they actually look like (what you self used in KOTOR 1-2) ... its a nice idea <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only problem with appearance would be with LS Master. DS Master could always be disfigured or wearing a mask. Actually, what would be so wrong in a LS Master wearing a mask, as long as it's not evil looking? A vale or something.
  10. I would like the PC to have a choice of a master, either light or dark, either Revan or Exile(if they are back, that would be coolest methinks). PC's choices and actions decide. Somehow I see Revan as Male DS and Exile as male LS but that depends on whats canon. Eventually the master dies, leaving the PC as a lone Padawan and the only hope for the galaxy/republic. He/she must ultimately face the remaining master and his/her padawan. I would like to see previous party members as bosses, facing Bastila and/or Carth if PC is DS or facing Canderous and/or HK-47 if PC is LS for example.
  11. In a new Dark Forces/Jedi Knight/jedi Outcast/jedi Academy game I would like to go on Nal Hutta with a double-bladed lightsaber and blowup a few Hutts...
  12. Eh, No... It was a space sim like Elite and such... Where is the cross-genre stuff? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There were some RPG and adventure elements. Upgrading your ship with money accumulated with missions accessible with xp gains through combat and mission/quest solving; exploration and loot hunting, NPC conversations, influence with factions, etc. The only thing that bothered me about Freelancer is that I couldn't walk around as I wanted. Plus the learning curve for me was steep at one point.
  13. People complained, that says enough about a number of the people who would play a game like this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Freelancer is cross-genre, and no one complained <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And it was a pretty good game overall. Now imagine SW:Freelancer *Drooling*
  14. They could give the player the choice of using the turrets like in K2, the choice to let some pilot fly the EH or do it yourself and same thing with other action sequences that could be too much for RPGers. I found the turret hard until I reversed the axis in the options.
  15. The only game I knew that required you to eat food was Ultima VII which came out in '92 I believe. Super Hydlide already had this in '90. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Robinson's Requiem. Kind of a sucky game but it was a survival game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let me re-state that.. The only game RPG I knew that *required* you to eat food was Ultima VII which came out in '92 I believe. Super Hydlide already had this in '90. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Robinson's Requiem was a RPG/Action/Survival hybrid. I won't argue too much about it though, I didn't play it enough.
  16. Free flight in space, and landings from space to planet manually <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would be great. But we're talking about a D&D based RPG here.
  17. The only game I knew that required you to eat food was Ultima VII which came out in '92 I believe. Super Hydlide already had this in '90. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Robinson's Requiem. Kind of a sucky game but it was a survival game.
  18. The ''Interesting'' part was that I didn't specify that I was talking about GTA3. I wrote Alanshu about GTA grfx vs. GTA3 grfx instead of GTA3 grfx vs. GTA VC grfx. To stay on topic : I really didn't like GTA VC. Same game as GTA3 (yes, I know, it change the face of video gaming, bla, bla, bla) with motorcycles. For 60$. Rip off.
  19. Hades was talking about a returning PC. Link is a returning PC, weakling or not.
  20. Not many RPGs have a returning PC in them. Baldur's Gate is one of them and I guess you could do it with NWN HotU. On consoles it's more frequent, like with Grandia, Dark Cloud or Zelda(which is more action/adventure than RPG). I don't think it was a mistake in either KOTORs. For every gamer who wants to replay as a certain character, there is another who prefer a brand new PC. Also, I find it more interesting to build the history of the KOTOR universe following another. The passing of the torch if you will, from one Knight of the Old Republic to the next. I really hope they make use of a new PC, with only references to Revan and the Exile in this speculatory(is that a word?) K3. They could restrict the gender though. if they want. Hey, what if Revan and the Exile are the same person?
  21. Except Scrapland was released 18 months after Vice City, and over 3 years after the original GTA 3. As someone that allegedly works in the game industry, I figured you'd recognize that graphical improvements always come with time. To hold them to the same standards for graphics is well...stupid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm burnin'!
  22. The Soviet Union and Che did not kill X million Jews. Also, it was the Russians who stopped the Nazis, not the US. If i am mistaken, please beat me up with your words, I am masochistic of the literally.
  23. Oh No! Jack Thompson has invaded the Thread! Anyways... on the comments; Same game; ? Same game as what other? GTA3 was a major step forward in the gaming world Overhyped; Not as much as SA, and far better (don't get me wrong, SA was amazing, but it was getting a bit stale after 3 & VC Overrated; Nope Ugly; GTA III, yeah, but what do you think if you have to animate a fully living world, for about the first time in gaming history. And it was back in 2002 too, so no Doom3, UE3, F.E.A.R engines Shaky controls; Played both on PC and the default sucks alot, but if you change all of them to your desire the control is da best... Camera; Never noticed a lot of camera trouble. Just keep the camera behind you and you are fixed for everything. SA's camera is alot more annoying with it's turn around features and such Wow. The one and only unintelligable language. Translation plz? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm FAR from being a Jack Thompson clone. And thank you for linking GTA and video games to his name. We really need that. Thats another thread however. GTA3 and GTA:VA are the same game, with added vehicles. Story is irrelevant in these games imo(except SA, which I loved). SA has more varied gameplay with some pretty cool RPG elements. It looks slightly better too because of the new tech. Slightly. Oh and I'm no noob so i am quite aware that you can't put DOOM3 grfx in a game built like GTA. However, Scrapland is huge and the grfx are MUCH better than GTA's. Controls were shaky. I'm not saying they were horrible, but most reviewers were fond of the controls. Driving/walking around was ok but when it was time to shoot or as soon as the PC gets into tight corners the camera goes nuts. I was expecting a much better game but both GTA3 and VC were HUGE disapointments. To me
