Howler tank?
It's a really cool weapon. I'm a bit angry that it comes so rel. late. It's not as overpowered as some other stuff that comes far earlier. I just did a quick cheasy playthrough to get to SSS asap and get that pike so that I could export it with a character and then later import it into a new playthrough.

The DLCs want me me to bin this game
Boeroer replied to Daudastund's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I didn't understand the complaints about her (my first defeat was with a solo PotD melee Geomancer and it was quite easy) until I realized that most players just don't use interrupts. Maybe because in PoE interrupts were nothing too special (just added a little bit of recovery time - the most impactful ones "only" 1 sec, the weakest ones 0.3 secs.) - and all casting times were much shorter - so why bother? In Deadfire an interrupt is significantly more impactful (casts take a lot longer on average and interrupted enemies will not only lose time but also resources and it's annoying af if you get interrupted). So while I was using interrupts most of times* I initially didn't think about how fights might be if you just ignored them. )* I really value Thrust of Tattered Veil in Deadfire: a level-1 fast-cast auto-hit interrupt? Yeah! Take this tough nut boss! Llengrath's Safeguard my ass!

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
Long periods of time: Christmas parties aren't long at your place it seems. Shorter than eating at a restaurant maybe? Also your party location must be well ventilated.... during winter. Determining if somebody is infected or not is difficult since 50% of infections will come without symptoms. If party guests didn't all get tested you can never be sure that there isn't a superspreader among them. And even then there's room for error. No test is 100% precise. You wrote about tested family members, cool - as if every party guest on Christmas did do a test... You want to claim everybody did that and thus Christmas parties are no problem at all? Sure, if everybody is healthy then nobody will get sick and we won't have to stop parties and can burn our masks! Nice prerequisite in a pandemic... very realistic. If weddings, mass and birthday parties are spreading events (and they are) then Christmas parties are as well: You also wrote Covid-19 only transmits via droplets that fall down: But Covid not only transmits via droplets but also transmits via aerosol (which you even quoted after claiming that Toy Story nonsense above) : Check the definition of "suspension". You also suggested that wearing masks ist not helpful. Which is not true either as you can read on the very site you linked. What you did was read some stuff on the WHO page and then interpret it in a biased way to support your narrative - when it in fact it does not.

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
Merkel's now considering to propose a shutdown of public transport as well because the curve is still not flattening - like... at all.

Another Build Question
Oops, I forgot Paladin's Inspired Beacon (+40%) and Ranger's Takedown Combo (+100%). Also Barb's Blooded (+25%) works with spells. Inproved Critical passive, too.

Another Build Question
Only in PoE, not in Deadfire. The combat log will say something like "<char> (Fireball) hits <enemy> for 70 burn damage (Deathblows)" - but if you then hover over it and press shift you will see that no Deathblows damge got added. Maybe it was taken out at some point during development.

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
I believe it's very difficult to track an infection back to public transportation - while it's easier to track it back to work, home, restaurant (especially if you have to register like in Germany so an infection can get backtracked)? So there might be a lot of infections coming from public transport - we just wouldn't know?

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
It says so in the source you linked: "The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe heavily. These liquid particles are different sizes, ranging from larger ‘respiratory droplets’ to smaller ‘aerosols’. Other people can catch COVID-19 when the virus gets into their mouth, nose or eyes, which is more likely to happen when people are in direct or close contact (less than 1 metre apart) with an infected person. Current evidence suggests that the main way the virus spreads is by respiratory droplets among people who are in close contact with each other. Aerosol transmission can occur in specific settings, particularly in indoor, crowded and inadequately ventilated spaces, where infected person(s) spend long periods of time with others, such as restaurants, choir practices, fitness classes, nightclubs, offices and/or places of worship. More studies are underway to better understand the conditions in which aerosol transmission is occurring outside of medical facilities where specific medical procedures, called aerosol generating procedures, are conducted." "To limit the risks of getting COVID-19 follow these basic precautions: Follow local guidance. Check to see what national, regional and local authorities are advising so you have the most relevant information for where you are. Stay at least 1 metre away from others, even if they don’t appear to be sick. Wear a mask, especially when you can’t physically distance. Read our Masks and COVID-19 Q&A and watch our videos on how to wear and make masks." Did you even read that? Turned out I could prove you wrong. Easily. Next: Skarpen saying that Christmas party at home isn't the same as spending long periods of time with others idoor... After that: Skarpen saying that when they are all healthy they can't spread the virus at the Christmas party. Too bad that 50% of spreaders show no symtoms and appear healthy.

Another Build Question
Assassinte bonus on Disintegrate does nothing but give you +25 ACC for the hit roll from stealth/invis. Disintegrate is raw - so no increased PEN. It's a DoT, so no increased dmg via crit - only +50% duration but every class would get that. ACC bonus helps to crit though. It's still good. For Disintegrate I think Debonaire/Ascendant is the better choice. Charmed enemies can receive Disintegrate and it gets 100% conversion (almost guaranteed +50% duration) while it will not flip the Charmed enemy back. So Ring Leader and then spam Disintegrate on all charmed enemies is great with this combo. Assassinate is great for direct dmg stuff. Maybe Amplified Wave? I just now realize I didn't try if it works with Assasinate. You have to hit an ally first and maybe that breaks stealth? Don't know...
-
Another Build Question
No, only Assassinate. Things that affect spell dmg from the top of my head: Might Assassinate on crit (if not DoT) crits (not dmg but duration if DoT) Blightheart enchantment for Wizards Griffin's Blade some pets (also the ones that boost "ranged" dmg Eternal Devotion Sasha's Singing Scimitar's Shocking Prelude

Another Build Question
Do not use a blunderbuss on an Assassin. Except when it's Kitchen Stove with Thunderous Report. The first projectile of a blunderbuss will get the bonus from assassinate, the others will not. Iirc this is also true for mortars since the AoE follows the initial hit and will not profit from Assasinate. Thunderous Report however is a insta-all-hit cone attack that does enormous base damage to begin with and not only profits from Assassinate, Sneak Attack and Deathblows but also from the quality enchantments of the weapon (+ACC, +dmg, +PEN via exceptional --> superb --> legendary etc.). If you can lure enemies to a spot - for example with a tank or some loud spell from stealth you can hit them all with the rather big cone (needs high INT!) and ascend immediately. It also has two damage types (burn/crush) which makes it less likely that you need to use a backup weapon. Backstab only works with weapon attacks from 2m range or less (no spells unless tagged as weapon attack - like Taste of the Hunt), Thunderous Report might work for trgets nearer than 2m.

The DLCs want me me to bin this game
Boeroer replied to Daudastund's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Again I recommend to watch J. Sawyers post mortem talk about Deadfire "Breaking the Mold". He explains that usually when beta-testers (who are among the most effective powergamers your game will ever see) tell you that your game is too easy it should be just fine for the average player. But in this case the beta-testers were right, he was admittedly wrong and the game really turned out to be too easy. Remember that when Deadfire was released PotD was a LOT easier than today.

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
Nearly nothing what Skarpen said is correct. I know it doesn't make any sense to try and discuss with him, but for anybody else interested here are some links about how masks work against Covid-19: https://www.pnas.org/content/117/51/32293 https://www.zmescience.com/science/hamster-face-mask-covid-study-15324/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7253999/ Study that shows that Covid-19 doesn't only spread via droplets (which don't fly) but also via aerosol (which does): https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.13.20063784v1.full-text

The DLCs want me me to bin this game
Boeroer replied to Daudastund's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Haha. Usually if you reload the autosave (after you got obliterated) the looters won't turn hostile anymore because that scripted scene will be missing (which seems to trigger the hostility). So you should also be able to run past them after you reload. Don't know if that works reliably (didn't die at Gorecci Str. for a long time) but at least that was helpful and prevented frustration the first few times I went there. I believe if you do a quicksave aftr the autosave you're not getting that option...? Most people found out ba accident that leaving Port Maje and returning (and going right to Gorecci Str.) lets them enter from the south and easily sneak past the looters even with the lowest stealth values.

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
Sure it can. Also depends on the measures the government so strictly enforces. If those are not adequate you can be as strict as you want... China doesn't have a good vaccine yet afaik and they have a lot of people to vaccinate. No surprise the virus might cause local outbreaks. But I believe those will not explode like they do in Europe or the US.

Politics... World events
A "lifelong" sentence in Germany usually means 15 years of prison (with 5 years of probation afterwards). If there is "very serious guilt" (judge will determine that) your time in prison can be prolonged lot longer. You can also add further "preventive detention" which is not prison time - but basically the same - if you think the perpetrator will still be a danger mouse. I guess Norway has something similar: Criminal law in most European countries is not based on punishment and doesn't even aim to achieve "justice" (I guess because that's just a very subjective thing). It aims at upholding peace under the law and rehabilitation to prevent further crimes. One reason why there is no death penalty. If the offender can't be resocialized there's that preventive detention. There is the element of deterrence but it's not one of the main pillars - like it seems to be in the US(? correct me if I'm wrong). Also because deterrence doesn't really seem to work that well when it comes to the "big" crimes. I'm no lawyer so what I said may be a bit woolly.
