Torment, Fallout was/are great, System Shock 2, was again good, Sam&Max and Grim Fandango never played. As is said it's an opinion, its just what you like. Now I was going to do this rant in Animu thread ( I still might) but what I bolded has over the time changed to be one of the most annoying arguments/defenses of all time. You may prefer Dumb and dumber over Tarkovsky's Stalker but that doesn't change the fact latter one is one of the greatest achievements of cinematic art and first is dump (if funny) ****. Maybe I like eating **** instead of spaghetti bolognese but I shouldn't be stupid enough to start arguing it is better food. Maybe my cousin Joe prefers some trashy nu-metal band called Linkin Park over The Beatles but he shouldn't be stupid enough to start going on how Linkin Park is much more important, better and influencing band in history of popular music. Yet in the end everything is up to opinion and person himself. However we should never forget Platon's classical definition of truth/knowledge "Truth is well argued true belief" which is only way to reach at least remotely objective stance on the matter. Unless you manage to pull out some absolutely shining feats of arguing (and 100 % no one in this world is good enough for that job) Stalker will always be better movie than Dumb and Dumber (when going by as objective route as possible) You not liking something =/= absolute POS Now forgive the rant as you gave explanation for your views (and thus you shouldn't take that rant as anything personal ) and even though I heavily disagree and could go on to derail the thread I'm not willing to do so.

Talvikuningas ("Winter King") is best ****ing album released this millenium and fourth on my all time favourite list (by far one of the newest album on that one I might add). Absolutely magnificent stuff. Killer riffs and proggy elements with crazy drum fills etc. And above all teh lyrics Of course the fact it is scifi concept album done well helps too very much CMX - Talvikuningas XI: Quanta

Artistically? I'm not saying they're not ambitious people, all their titles are in some way (for their honor) but I was being very specific

tl;dr (yet) but that weaker Vampire game (uhh, Redemption?) was released with similar editor year or so before NWN1 edit: For me MotB was best title released in long years. Absolutely brilliant stuff all around, above all writing wise (best since KotOR 2 and Bloodlines). My problem with Bioware is that they seem to lack any sort of artistic ambition edit: Lately I've become very intrigued about S.T.A.L.K.E.R, I've been watching videos and it looks like absolutely awesome title atmosphere wise. So that may earn the title for best game of last years

Oh you got to be ****ing kiddin' me. ME's story best ever? Ever heard of, uhh, Planescape Torment, Fallout, Ultimas, System Shocks, Sam&Max, Grim Fandango etc. etc? As far as plot goes yes there has been considerable development from days of original Doom to days of Crysis when it comes to story

Well, that's not much of opinion question. Overall stories in games have become much better than in early years but amount of "top" stories per year is by far lesser as such great franchises like Ultimas are dead. Et cetera et cetera I'd say the average quality is better nowadays but masterpieces are far fewer, thus Dark Raven in my opinion is partly right

Fallout 1 has better story and atmosphere Fallout 2 is funner game however

lol no, Baldur's Gate has horrible character models Backgrounds are damn pretty though (but ocasionally frustrating source of pixel hunt)

Even though I normally distance myself from fanboy legions I can't help but agree with them on F3 By all means it looks like certain disaster

Gothics combat system sucks and is stupidly difficult so that wasn't good example You can only blame yourself if you go instead of roleplaying your character in dialogues to trying to get metagaming "score points" or whatever. And really, your party members are rather easy to read. If you want to manipulate them it isn't terribly hard

You read the article? At least 1/3 of it was hyping the AI
