I wouldn't bother. It might, MIGHT have been worth if it there's an offline mode. The environments and overall story are interesting. The trouble is that the game is built with a MMORPG sensibility, so there's lots of pointless grinding to get to explore those areas or experience that story. The really weird thing is that it's desinged, for the most part, like a single-player RPG, which is what makes the multiplayer aspect of it so infuriating!

Kickstarter's over, and no Avellone or McComb. I didn't notice any celebrity endorsements this time around, which might have had something to do with it... At least it's getting made, though.

For those who didn't see, Chris Avellone is the 1.9 million dollar stretch goal on Bard's Tale IV. Sounds like he'll be doing his own version of Tomb of Horrors. As of this moment though, it doesn't look like they're going to hit that target... (seriously, if any of you inXile guys are listening, get Brian Clevinger (of 8-bit Theater fame) to design a village or town, and make that the 2 million dollar stretch goal, I bet you'll meet it.)

Two things: Map Markers: why didn't they add these? The IE games had them. User-defined only, please, I don't need a guided tour. Lock door/Hold Portal: The IE games DIDN'T have this, which pissed me off because the enemies had this ability. You should be able to have your rogue lock a door, or use a Hold Portal spell to make it unopenable. This is a very useful tool for dividing the enemy horde to make them more manageable. Ultima 5 had it 30 years ago, for cripes sake!

Weird, he mentions that he didn't work much on IWD1, but I was under the impression that he did pretty much all of the NPC dialogue...

Is the objective of the game to find your clothes?

I heard he woke up one morning unexpectedly in another country, with the unquenchable desire to devour souls.

Connected to inXile acquiring the Van Buren trademark? Did Chris work on the original? Yes, IIRC he spent a long time working on it as a creative lead which is often compared to the time he spent spearheading Planescape:Torment. Does that mean we're going to get Wasteland 3: Van Buren? I've never finished a Fallout game, but if I understand correctly, didn't New Vegas use of the spine of Van Buren's plot?

Christ, I hope he doesn't have a non-competition clause. Benching him would constitute a Crime Against Humanity.

There goes all my hopes for the POE expansion. I'm hoping he ends up at inXile. I'd say Bethesda, but that would seem more of a curse.

According to the Wikipedia article, Black Isle's stab at Baldur's Gate 3 was about 80% done when it was canceled. Who owns the resources and code to this? I'm wondering because there have been some rumors that Obsidian might have some involvement with the Overhaul Games attempt to make BG3 (even though they've deneied that.)

Annoyed by the end of Act 2
kensu replied to Scimon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
This is also when Aloth tells you that he was part of the Leaden Key. "I'm part of the organization that's been causing all the trouble. But I'm not an active agent, I deserted and just happened to run across you." Considering my reaction was "Yeah, right, whatever", I suspect that scene didn't have the intended effect. -
Woohoo! Finished the main quest of NWN2 and am now playing Mask of the Betrayer. I like how even the battle music is different now.

There's something I wasn't clear on in the game, and I was hoping there was something I missed in the game, or one of the developers could shed light on this... In the world of PoE, is a soul an indivisible unit, or is it composed of smaller segments of "soul stuff"? We know from one of the possible endings that you can shred a soul up, but my question is in the normal course of reincarnation, is the soul reborn intact in another body, or does it dissolve into the "soul stream" and intermingle with the souls of others, and a newly formed soul is deposited into the new body, made out of the components of many other souls? Because I find it strange that the Watcher has so many memories of his time as Thaos's toady, since it happened such a long time ago (at least 20+ generations ago, right?) It's also interesting that when communing with the souls of other people that the Watcher never finds that they had a previous soul in common at some point (which might've been a better way for the flashbacks, since it would be like The Nameless One recovering memories, and would give the player an impetus to touch the soul of all the backer-made NPCs)

I'm playing Neverwinter Nights 2, since PoE wasn't enough for me. :D I bought it when it first came out, but for some reason never played past the part where you got the first shard. It's actually quite amazing how good it is, though the camera is causing all sorts of problems. Really looking forward to Mask of The Betrayer.

Wizards of the Coast probably own the rights to that as well, though. I remember years ago, before Alpha Protocol was a glimmer in Obsidian's eye, thinking that they should do something similar with Top Secret.

Lose the rights to Star Wars? Get the rights to Lensman. (Dark Horse should do the same)
