I just read level 1 my bad. The companions aren't really nerfed almost every stat in PoE is useful. While will for example is the least important defense in the game Int is god stat and Res is alright never hurts to be at 10. While Con is weak compared to Mi, fort is the most important defense ingame. Reflex is not that important either but Dex at 10 never hurts and PE is once again a god stat. That being said it's all good to use mods I repeat another thing I said above I did that in BG as well and if I revisit this game at some point after I get bored of Tyranny I might use Keeper to just for fun. I just posted the above because I myself wanted to swap out GM and Kana for hirelings once I reach max level, but then realized they were very good as they were and kept them.

The utility of all the different chants is just very awesome. Ancient Memory is also quite good. In low level it's just very noticable if you get +10 ref, will and fort, healed constantly and also do raw dot. At level 9 the chanter is a god compared to other classes. I for the first time waited till level 9 to got to WM, so I could upscale it. Went to Galvinos at 9 and died in my first attempt at the tirst mobs, since I didn't do enough damage to the ranged/magic ones. 2nd attempt I just aggroed those with Kana, so his dragon thrash aura reaches them and the fight was ez. (I only had three guys pala, GM and chanter so I didn't have any spells except those dependent on focus build) Then when you get to the high level chants you can just make yourself invulnerable with damage shield or use stuff like dragon slaying or burn damage bonus.

That's why I said cipher, but he's taking durance and it wouldn't be the best idea to miss out on chanter. Let's keep in mind. both Aloth and Durance are extremely micro intensive. I personally mainly need my MC to be irreplacable, I usually have paladins, chanters or ciphers and the paladin isn't the most active class either. But without a tank that could easily solo the game I personally couldn't play the game. If I went mc rogue and the rogue died every other battle I would feel bad about my mc.

If you solo Drawn in spring is the best weapon. Bittercut is only good if you have at least 2 chars. For example GM in my trio easily crits dragons, but she get's accuracy buffs from dragon slaying chant, Zealous Focus, Paladins marking talent which are all not available if you solo. Also ofc a cipher has better selfbuffs for critting.

For chanter you can also up your Lore and cast Scrolls, but since anyone could do that it's not a chanter thing, just would make it less passive. If you are set on taking Durance, the chanter might still be better tho, if you don't have kana, not having a chanter might be bad, his passive heal works real well with Eder since it stacks and also two very fast level 1 chants give you +10 on all saves except deflection and as 3rd chant you can either do damage with DoT chants (one you get at level 9 will turn your chanter into the best dd for quite some levels) or take another support chant, the high level ones are op again, 30 pt damage shield, accuracy and damage vs dragons, you name it. The cipher does a lot of single target damage with weapons and also has some powers which do great AoE, but the cipher is also an awesome buff and debuff class.

I would go with Kana as companion and a cipher as main character. Ciphers are very active, maybe the most active class in game. You don't need to rest for their spells to repeatedly cast them, but you need to attack and gather focus. Also kana is slightly more interesting than GM as a companion. I don't like Durance personally. A priest is also a very good mc, since roleplaying has a lot more impact on them, but very rest reliant.

I think he pulls the group with a ranged attack, then backs off to cast Savage Defiance and Frenzy and drink some potions. Of course, once he's done that he pretty much three shots the group with Dragon Leap, Heart of Fury and Barbaric Blow, so I'd agree that it's basically a straight up fight without any tricks. That video definitely puts pay to anyone still saying Barbarians are underpowered though doesn't it. Yeah, that's how I remembered it, too. Anyway it looks a lot more fun that way then with paladin and slowly wittling them down with SA.

Oh, so you can free the vithracks and not fight them? Doesn't really seem to matter too much if you have high defense. With + 20 def from Ryonas BP triggered Vigorous Defense + Llengraths I had 170ish Def, Fort and Ref and something like 150ish will. I broke the domination on my pala with supress afflictions ring, then immediately built 80 focus on a brute and mindwebbed. I went in with yellow health bar, didn't rest before, used no food, but somehow my health (not end) got healed during the fight, anyone know what that's about? Much easier fight than some bounties, even tho I took my time killing the vithrack brutes and sporelings before I attacked the spore tendrils (which probably was unnecessary) and after 2 of them finally the spore.

Yeah, my first attempt I didn't use Moonwell or Llengraths potion so I had to relaod since GM and Kana died. 2nd attempt I used both right away and even tho I had to keep healing GM at combat start I still wore them down with Dragon Trashed and Sacred Domination to the point I didn't have to heal GM anymore (used up 4 of my 5 vital essence potions) only the wizards were left and without melee backup they died quickly.
