  1. Deflection is not needed in a 6 wizard party. It's a different story if you have a cipher and use mindweb, having a tank with overall strong defnses is very nice, but if you have 3 melee and 3 "ranged" wizards I would focus on fortitude which also means maxing might and your damage, that is a much better package than a pure tank and also saves you from most disables. As soon as you get wall of draining you will also be able to prolong your arcane Veil for whole long fights so combined with LLengraths your deflection will be op anyway.
  2. On GoG Galaxy the patch was as big as on Steam, maybe has something to do with using a client, idk. Can't believe people are arguing over every single nerf that happens in this game. I remember when cipher powers were changed to cost more, there was a several pages long complaint about ciphers now being "unplayable". I remember just for that very reason I started my Trio playthrough utilizing Grieving mother to show how good the new powers are and that it would be completely unbalanced if they cost more. Now the Unlabored Blade nerf might have been uncalled for but it actually is not that big of a deal and doesn't make the slightest impact on actual gameplay.
  3. What classes are you most interested in? Every class is viable, rogue being a lot weaker than the rest of the cast but viable nonetheless.
  4. If you dual wield you can still easily get 0 recovery with alacrity or similar, but yeah if you don't have a spare talent you just don't have it, which is most often the case for me.
  5. Whilst definitely good, I'd say your first stop with a high level Cipher should be Defensive Mindweb. If you can find a good way of building the focus required to cast it super quickly at the start of a fight (I think Raven Darkholme settled on Twin Sting for this purpose) then you'll usually find the rest of the fighter pretty easy. Admittedly this works best when your main character is a Paladin with good Faith and Conviction scores, but it'll generally work well for any party. After casting Mindweb though, Reaping Blades on a Monk is of course an excellent choice. I assume however that the Monk loses his Transcendent Suffering bonuses whilst using Reaping Blades? You do, but the knives are still very good, since it's raw damage and any WF buffs them. I usually went mindweb so my party got 140 def, 180 fort, 160 ref and 130 will from my pally, then either instinct or reaping knives, order doesn't matter too much. Melee cipher without fear of enemy attacks because of mindweb builds plenty of focus even without knives. With knives you kinda stop attacking with the cipher and just spam powers, which is quite potent ofc.
  6. For me personally having 0 recovery on a dps char is much more significant than having pen. Ofc if you go for a ranged build it could be different. But then again even on a bow best DR bypass in my opinion is wounding and if you solo high dr targets like dragons on melee Drawn in Spring is the best weapon as well. It's just that in a weapon you often look for something different for utility and the same should go for the selection of talents, if you can spare a talent point and don't need it elsewhere AND you don't eff up your attack speed the dr talent is great. Me I'm always too low on talents lol.
  7. Bounties give mad xp so you will get max level. For the Thaos fight if you aggro the judges right after combat start and maybe even Thaos witth one char, then you can run your chanter all the way to the west (left) side of the map and he should be fine.
  8. Just go and kill the boss, if you want to play i perfectly safe because it is TCS, put the chanter in a corner out of sight of the enemies and spam ogres. Why don't you level to 16? Did you do all bounties?
  9. Well I pointed out my "problem" is I come from playing Baldur's Gate with SCS solo, so to me PoE was not as complex to learn, since most of the base mechanics were quite similar, but the main differences are that BG has a LOT more spells than PoE a LOT more items and locations and a LOT more difficulty with SCS mod that on my specific settings gives mages/priests including lichs precast spells and an extremely improved AI. Ofc you are right that Tyranny has less depth than PoE but for me depth and difficulty are at least partially exclusive.
  10. I don't think Tyranny is easier than PoE. This is coming from somebody who never finished his first party PotD and went straight to solo cipher. But I cme from playing Baldur's Gate with SCS mod. :D I think in Tyranny it's very easy to create a bad character, and to create a truly brilliant char you need some "science". Ofc the main problem is you don't need that perfect char to faceroll without mods (which most likely will never happen) but the same is true for PoE.
  11. Yeah, my "secret" build utilizes thrown weapons. Btw even tho I didn't necessarily expect it my build does not need any leashing from level 5 on all fights done fair and square 1vs 5. :D And yes, I only have 8 Vit. :D And you are right this is the wrong forum, but the Tyranny forums are pretty boring for discussions like this.
  12. 2handed is quite nice, I think I found something with more Utility, in the end it doesn't matter that much how badly you stomp the enemies, but I want something geared specifically to dealing with malices better.
  13. @Phyriel, btw I'm building a char on the side atm that is supposed to get superior to yours, I'll keep you posted.
  14. If you only worry about hp, yeah you don't lose a lot. The only reason Con has any value in this game is fortitude defense, remember you gain hp on every level up.
  15. Solo or party? For solo it would be risky cuz fort, but in a party it shouldn't matter.
  16. It's all good I don't care that much for graphics myself.
  17. Not only the game... I doubt your 2005 (?) laptop can handle that one Stop pretending this game has graphics!
  18. Hey. (Victor Creed from Tyranny here.^^) I'd built 2 melee and the rest wands, AoE wand on wizard is really good. You'd want max int on everyone, melees also max might and a lot of con. (res can be dumped in late game, as soon as you get draining wall your selfbuffs last forever. :D, on the melees dex can probably be dumped too if you wanna max con, but you could also leave it at 10.) The non melees need less con and can do with more Dex. As to the spells you can make the distinction between debuff and damage, I personally would probably go with different spells to master but try to get the max amount of different spells in there. For more specific information people like grausch are wizard specialist and Boroer knows all things.
  19. After seeing your vid about the solo unarmed guy who used mirrored image I restarted my own char (not solo) and skilled him for max offense + Mirrored Image. That spell is so good for a melee guy. I combined it with Rampage (Power) and most of he time the damgerous guys are dead before Mirrored Image runs out. There's also some nice synergies like Know your Enemy (Verse) + Evasive + Mirrored Image: IF you get hit your dodge goes up while Mirrored Image goes down. Evasive always lets you use dodge instead of parry. She has a +20 dodge stance - and in the early game you can even give her the Fatebinder's shield which gives you add. +24 Dodge. She becomes more tanky the longer the fights last and usually is the last one standing if you take out casters first (which you should). Tyranny encourages you to specialize. The more skills you use/train the faster you will level, which is bad because the enemies scale while your many skills are still not very high. It's better to use only one or two skills and max them out. This will prevent faster leveling while still giving you power. To be honest: the game is fun so far but that leveling system + scaling is total crap in my opionon. Very obscure and couterintuitive. Also, some talents seem to be really useless. Of what use is it to have a small chance to hit twice or thrice with basic attacks when the game encourages you to use as many special attacks as possible? Other talents on the same tier seem to be very power- or useful. Well maybe I'm just not proficient enough to see the sense in it. @Arena: fast casts are not very helpful if you get grilled after a few seconds. So either you kite or pull (which will prolong the fight) or you try to tank (which means you can't put all your efford into offense & fast casting). But I agree that a wizard has a big advantage because he can pile up some really nice defenses while casting very quickly with Alacrity. It's just quite touch to cast all those self buffs before they obliterate you. If you solo it matters less if you specialize, since you get above level 18 super quick and enemies stop scaling after that. I messed up my own build and after training unarmed and thrown in Act 1 I changed to one handed in Act 2. I also was too lazy to return too spire and level one handed each time I leveled, so I ended up with now having only 120ish unarmed and only 170 accuracy (no acc gear yet, tho). I still laugh at any human opponents in the game, only enemies that give me some trouble are banes, but I think I figured out quite a bit in fighting them and my gear can only get better is quite ****ty atm. @OP That priest fight is kinda interesting, but uses figurines, especially my cipher would have hugely profited from those (Concelhaut getting 160 each defense from my cipher by mindweb? allied cipher spells?), but as far as I remember we agreed on no figurines for this specific arena.
  20. Having to use a per rest ability for bsing just seems super tedious and as you said stealth is not good enough to get close.
  21. For backstab itself gun was always better than sabres, since you can't continiously do it max damage is important and reload matters less. I don't really think it's viable to build a rogue around backstabbing, you're not gonna win any fights on backstab alone. If your gonna go with a 2nd weapon set for nomal fighting as long as you don't solo dual wield is gonna be better than shield.
  22. Especially since paladin is not the most interesting class out there.
  23. Yeah I like dual wielding, too but early game it's not that easy, later on you can have huge defences on paladin level because of borrowed instinct, but early game you need your focus for casting, since you don't build as much, getting a burst from 2 heavy ranged weapons is often quite good, but another thing you can do is take 2 melee weapons in the third weapon slot instead of a bow. edit: oh and borrowed instinct is a level 5 power anyway, so you get it at level 9.
  24. If you played twice and haven't used cipher yet, definitely go for it. In my opinion the most active class in game, not only because you avoid per rest abilities, but also because attacking with weapons actually gives you your resource for casting. I wouldn't use pistol + arbalest and nothing else. Either switch out one of them with a bow or get a third weapon slot (my personal recommendation) and put a bow there. Later with Twin Sting it's different, but the reload times on pistol and ab are huge.
