  1. Killed undead Raedric. That fight is nearly impossible for solo cipher lol.
  2. I now reached the “magic“ level 11. It's plain obliteration. First thing I did was kill the archdruid of the Ethik Nol. Normally not an easy fight solo, but I just hit the boss with disintegrate first, summoned 3 Shades and spammed Amplified Wave onthem, I hardly got hurt...
  3. Moonlike is an awesome race for cipher.(and every other class/build) Riposte as stated before is quite bad. Just fight the doemenel assassin group in Olan's Gift if you have bad rep with them and in the whole fight you will get hit by riposte maybe three or four times. Cipher is awesome with retaliate because it synergizes perfectly with focus builsing, you will never worry about having to little focus again, you don't even need draining whip. You need good nerves for the fights since you get hit a lot, but you also kill extremely fast. I rarely use endurance potions or any consumables for that matter.
  4. Since I am nearly level 11 in solo Potd with my cipher I willshare info, but haven't the time right now. I used Perception as second dump stat it works quite well.
  5. In my Potd solo I now reached level 10 and my biggest fight yet was killing Simoc for wanting me to kill a kid. I didn't even bother using environment cheese anymore, best strategy by now is to stand in the middle of your enemies and shoot a mind lance first, then detonate whoever is wounded most. Him exploding just does insane damage to his allies. As soon as I reach 11 I guess I will spam Amplified Wave all day and disintegrate on dangerous individuals.
  6. That makes FOD really bad on Blunderbusses. It generally isn't the best paladin skill... Generally? Uhh.. It's.. generally the best they get, in the reliable damage-boosting department. Your choice is either that or Lay on Hands. Flames of Devotion just shouldn't be a Lash, or Lash functionality should be reworked somehow. It's so much better for slow high-damage weapons than it is for fast low-damage weapons. If you feel the paladin is a damaging character, sure... Me I see him more as a support tank and leave the damage to the big boys, cipher, rogue, barb, heck even ranger...
  7. I haven't come across a whole blamed exchange with npcs that goes on for at least 5 minutes and is really funny all that time yet in this game. In BG2 I found myself quicksaving before I talked to the adventurers led by Tess Ironeye (Rasaads Quest) and reloading several times, just to try out all dialogue options.

  9. Maybe we should remind ourselves theres rarely only one enemie...
  10. The post which started this discussion was about survival on Potd, one guy claimed that's no problem because you can spam MB. In melee you'll get hit back which is bad for a squishy cipher in ranged you don't need constant binding to survive.
  11. Then you're not good at reading context. I said that in combination of "Binding being the best tactic to spam repeatedly", as if you just need that spell and are in godmode from then on. But if you just got the spell and melee, focus regeneration is a big problem.
  12. Act 3 level 10 here I come. @known Your missing my point with retaliation high might and a mob hitting you you can generate 100 focus in 10 secs. Its just not a reliable tactic when you still use paralyze, later you burn your focus for damage.
  13. Monk is a beast early and best for clearing Act 1. It scales kinda bad though. Have reached Act 3 now with my cipher, nearly level10 and way better than a monk by now.
  14. Just cleared Dryford Ruins boss fight and freed Aelys. Diethe fight with level8 and am now 9.
  15. I tried that kind of build with a thief and it's just way to tedious, because you might as well switch ranged weapons. With the thief at least you have 2x sneak damage if your near the target, with the cipher it doesn't make much sense.
  16. A lion is just way easier to hit than armored foes, thats why you build focus easier.
  17. In my game there are no mere lions left at level 6.
  18. That's just not true you would never build enough focus in 14 secs of attack minus your recovery time after casting. Also theres groups of enemies very frequently. Spells higher than paralyze are better than paralyze anyway.
  19. That not important. With mods I could make PoE the hardest game ever. Not that PoE is even close to the same league as vanilla BG in terms of difficulty. PoE on Path of the damned is easier than BG on normal. But, whatever. The real issue with PoE isn't that it's too easy, but why it's so easy; as Luckmann has already pointed out. You would have to completely chsnge the game mechanics and enemy classes to accomplish that.
  20. If you are saying this is harder than BG I guess you never used Tactics or SCS mod. Those mods let the enemy casters rise to use their abilities as intended and make BG way harder than pillars.
  21. We can continue this "cheap" vs "scrub" but its not too constructive and pleasant. Is that a Seth Killian quote? As to the discussion I don't mind being cheap or cheesy, but the barb is just too much atm and I want it at least confirmed whether it's a bug or not.
  22. That was meant for all fights not the weakest monsters you can find.
  23. I don't really see whats special about 15 dmg, 2 focus and killing lions. When I killed the ogre and elder bears I was constantly going up to 90, burning it in few seconds and up again. I would have gotten slaughtered with your approach tbh.
  24. Attack speed is good on the shield but damage sucks. In endgame i would prefer retaliation.
