While I respect your frustration with being unable to play the Wii, the Wii is the first console that folks with other disabilities can play. Some folks who aren't capable of wrapping their hands around most controllers can do the larger motions used by Wii games. I'm not trying to discredit your position, but I think it's unfair to Nintendo and developers to say that they are insulting you. They are just trying to make fun games in a new way.

I cannot answer that, as I'm not an owner, a lead, or in any position that would have any influence on the type of projects the company would take on. I can say that were Obsidian to do a game on the Wii, plenty of us would be jumping up and down yelling "pick me, pick me" to get on the team.

The Wii is not an HD system. Highest it supports is 720p. The PS3 / 360 support 1080p. Truthfully, you can only really call a Wii "next-gen" because of its controller. But to answer the question of the thread, I'd say it's because A. Obsidian has not been approached about it. B. Development with the Wiimote in mind will cause other ports to suffer. (Assuming here that Obs would do third-party work instead of second-party) Or conversely, development with other consoles in mind will cause the Wii port to underplay the strengths of the system. C. Nintendo consoles are first-party consoles. You get a Nintendo for Zelda, Metroid or Mario. Nintendo has traditionally not handled third-party developers well, for whatever reason. D. Nintendo doesn't take games or gaming as seriously as Obsidian does. Which is to say, Nintendo isn't for the hardc0re. Nintendo would never entertain (or adequately support) a game like KOTOR2, or an Alien RPG, exclusively for its console. They're looking for the next Nintendogs or Super Smash Bros., not the next KOTOR, or even the next Final Fantasy. For the sake of disclosure, I am a huge fan of things Nintendo, but I know plenty of folks around Obsidian love the Wii. Most of us don't share in the "Nintendo is for babies" thing. As a guy lower in the food chain, I can't give reasons for doing or not doing any project, but it isn't because we don't like the Wii. Also, the claim that Nintendo is a first party console isn't fair to the Rayman's, The RE4's and the Metal Gears that have graced just one Nintendo console, with the two latter version being far superior to any other incarnation on another console. And Volourn really needs to get off the strap thing. And his period obsession.

Why wii? why have thou done this to me?

If by regular, you mean spaztastic, excessive use, then yes. -

I think this lawsuit is really, really dumb. We don't sue baseball manufacturers when a baseball is thrown through a window, I don't sue DC shoes if I trip over my own shoe lace and knock something over. The strap was made well enough to stop any "regular" use, but just like European cars have to be modified to accommodate the largeness of the average American behind, Nintendo underestimated the clumsiness and stupidity of this country. And because the "period" thing is apparently still in effect, I'll say it more so I sound even more credible. Period. Period. Period. -

I really have no idea how the people in these videos manage to throw the Wiimotes out of their hands if they are making any attempt to hold on. I've been playing Wii Sports non stop since launch day, and I've never had any problem with it slipping. For people that have a massive sweat gland malfunction, Nintendo and third parties make rubber gloves for the controllers to improve grip. And as for the strap, I tested the straps on my Wiimotes, and they all were strong enough to withstand some very healthy tugs. The force needed to rip them has to be very large. Period. (apparently typing this makes me more credible...) Period, Period, Period. -
Played Tennis the last 2 nights and now my shoulder is sore. Think I'm going to sue Nintendo. Game is a blast, though! I got smacked in the elbow last night during some tough tennis competition, but that's the only injury so far. )

For anime, I'm fond of Mushishi, Wolf's Rain, the new Hellsing OVA's, and Read or Die. The only manga I'm reading now is Priest, which isn't even manga in the most strict of definitions.

I did. :D Thanks for noticing.

So I just remembered something...How long has it taken you to beat the game?

Please yell at your packaging company.
Joseph Bulock replied to Phaedra36's topic in Obsidian General
We've heard other issues of this happening, and I can say that Obsidian is very sorry that you can't enjoy our game how you hoped you'd be able to (and how we'd hope you be able to). Sadly, we have no direct role in the distribution of the game, and Atari is handling all of that. We're already voicing our concern about the issues we've heard and will continue to do so until we know our customers got what they payed for. -
This is a personal opinion, and in no way represents anyone else's opinions but my own. I hated the radial menu. I nearly failed my QA test here because I had to pick up NW1 cold turkey during my interview and the damn menu was so unintuitive and overly complicated. When we changed to the current context menu, I did many dances of happiness. Once again, just my own take on things.

Really? Do tell more. All the more I will tell is that you should experiment more...

The hollows were originally a mini stronghold in Neverwinter, but they were cut.

Calivar and Elinee, yes. Neither of those people are in the game.... Casavir and Elanee on the other hand... Also, these are only half of the possible characters if I'm not mislead...

Based on NWN2, I am willing to bet that most Obsidian devs vote for the democrats. I'm not going to go into any details, but I can tell you that Obsidian is a fairly diverse political environment. In my sight range right now, there are two republicans (at least) a libertarian, a green, and at least two democrats.

STR: Without enhancements, the best STR score you could have would be 25, unless you factor in stat bonuses from the RDD prestige class polymorph forms or druid wild shapes. With enhancements, it gets pretty absurd. Power critical improves your chances to confirm a crit. When you roll an attack die and it lands within the critical threat range of the weapon, you then make another attack roll. If that hits, you have actually scored a critical and get the increased damage. Improved critical just increases the threat range of the weapon. Hope that helps.

I actually checked into that myself. Speaking with one of the programmers, he claims that the bonus is, in fact working, but it is not reflected in the AC stats in the GUI's. Due to the fact that it is a contextual AC bonus (you can't be flat footed), the game calculates it much differently than other bonuses, and therefore it is not included in the visible AC stat. Sorry for any confusion there, and I will continue to follow this issue.

Volourn's Early Final Fantasy 12 Impressions
Joseph Bulock replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
I still don't understand how the presence of an exploit makes a game entirely bad. I will admit that I'm having a hard time seeing your point, just because FF Tactics is my favorite game of all time, and therefore I really have to alter my perspective to see from your point of view. There are tons of exploits in Fallout and Fallout 2, but I wouldn't say they changed my appreciation of the game. In a single player game, if you need to cheat to get through it, then so be it, but then don't complain about balance. That's like complaining that you were really bored at a Nerf gun fight just because you brought a gas powered paint ball gun. -
The promotion was very recent. Thanks!

I can't think of too many areas that have large numbers of rogues in them, besides the , both of which make a lot of sense to have a bunch of sneaky people in them...

First wave of Virtual Console games for Wii reveal
Joseph Bulock replied to Diogo Ribeiro's topic in Computer and Console
I've had issues with the timing of many games across emulators, and to boot I don't like most of the PC controllers. Also, I wouldn't doubt if these games had extra functionality here and there. Maybe they won't, but this is Nintendo we're talking about. -
Are the pants threaded with spun gold? :)" Gray camo pants and a new ExplodingDog t-shirt.

I don't know for sure, but I imagine it would depend on the contract they signed with the publisher when the game was made.
