  1. *shrug* Ironic thing about DS3 is that it actually went ahead and did what we are always thinking about - cutting out the fluff and filler to the max. In any other RPG, every single 'filler area' (i.e. fight through enemies to get from X to Y) would have been twice as long. Now, DS3 isn't a great proof of concept because it's so watered down in RPG elements and it's too short even accounting for this, but it does confirm my suspicion that if we really cut out all the 'fat' there would be just as many complaints as praises, about how their game is not 'epic' enough. At least, enough to make it a gamble for the developer.
  2. Bastion Trailer. ARPG. Coming to consoles this week, PC 'soon' I note that (1) first trailer in oodles that is actually cool and not boring, (2) disgusting pastely cartoon look but manages to look pretty decent in places, (3) Impressions sound interesting[. Mmm.
  3. Bah, apparently I count as European.
  4. I believe Vera is the first 'real' boss? By the time you meet Boris you hardly have any equipment, anyway.
  5. No, some people on this forum said they played local co-op - I've forgotten now, but try searching the forum.
  6. Oh, it's tomorrow? Awesome, I'll get it then.
  7. Yeah, Dungeon Siege 1 from memory sold quite a bit, and allowed GPG to take off. Why it sold that much I'll never know, but it did.
  8. We have pretty concrete proof that a DLC was in development - probably a quest-based one with additional area(s) - but I don't know if it will end up being finished / released.
  9. It would be nice - it would also be an interesting challenge. There seems to be a script in the game to go solo, but I don't know if anyone's made that work yet. Wish it was just available off the bat.
  10. bugs at obsidian dot net for bug reports, i believe.
  11. Odd, certainly seems to be that one. There's a chance that whatever cheat/trainer you're using is screwing with the game, but that would be a weird sort of bug for the cheat to cause. Can you remember if Katarina has said anything about getting out of there? When you do pick up the rifle, your companion makes an appropriate comment - i.e. let's get out of here now we've got what we wanted. I assume you've already tried reloading.
  12. It should smash in one go, though as GhostofAnakin says, the ones right next to it can't be. And when you do smash it, the rifle is simply on the ground to pick up. Can you maybe take a screenshot of what you're swinging at? Use FRAPS or just PrntScrn then paste onto Paint or something.
  13. You didn't use any other weapon at all? Weird. From what I've seen in my playthroughs accuracy tended to look right-ish, i.e. nearly 100% when I stealth a lot.
  14. I doubt Murdoch himself will get much more than slaps (on the wrist, in the face). Certainly not jail or a deposition. What we do seem to be getting is essentially his key vision for News Corp's future unravelling at a crucial juncture as BSkyB bid fails, and this makes life after Murdoch, who'll probably become too old for day to day running soon enough anyway, much more volatile. Oh, and the Daily Mail is complete and utter ****. Don't bother.
  15. I'm getting to an interesting stage where, having decided that I generally prefer older games, I've gone back and almost exhausted all the old games I'm likely to be interested in. Over the last 3 years I've gone back and played games like Ultima VII, Deus Ex, Gabriel Knight, Divine Divinity, Conquests of the Longbow, etc. Some older games, too, but get to things like Betrayal at Krondor and Lands of Lore and its just a bit too archaic for me. So now it feels like not only are there not a lot of cool new games, I'm running out of old ones to play. Only games I'm seriously looking forward to are Risen 2, Dishonoured and whatever Obsidian do (though I'm hoping they get back to what they do best and give us a party-based story-heavy RPG with a 'deviant' turn).
  16. Keep personal attacks out of your opinions, guys.
  17. You can 30 without grinding, but that involves a fair amount of going back & forth between areas to solve quests, get to shops, etc. If you optimise your runs through the areas, and/or run past some enemies, you'll need to grind a bit - but probably no more than an hour or two.
  18. Only, DS3 has shared inventory. ....I guess what you could do is sell other players' stuff lightning quick, then buy useless stuff with all the money.
  19. I'm betting a No to that one.
  20. I always found it weird. I mean, OK, people say they want to play their own gender, fair enough. But as a guy, I don't exactly identify in any way with 90% of the male protagonists I control. I mean, an Asian guy that plays Katarina, or an Asian guy that plays the Duke? Am I really going to have a difference in identification? It's a different story if it's a game where you really develop your own 'voice' through C&C and customise the character's looks and identity considerably. In Diablo 2 I couldn't care less my sorceress was female, it's not like a male sorcerer would have been any less 'weird'.
  21. Your mouse is used as a targetter; your character will face and attack in the direction your mouse pointer is. This way, you can use the mouse to target stuff near and far away, while still moving independently (e.g. move forward with W key, but move your mouse cursor behind and attack = man turns around and attacks.) Can you experiment with that and see if that's part of the problem?
