  1. It's possible, because one of cipher's spells give 20 all defenses, in fact, inthe build I'm working on, I should have 210 deflection on inquisitor at level 20, with casita legacy chest and the athletics shield. I know you can get 200+ deflection with that op large shield, but just based on the gear OP post, i'm not sure if 160 is reachable tho. You get 20+57+21 = 98 basic deflection, 20 from borrowed instinct, you need another 42 deflections from gears. Edit: So I checked that Gipon armor, it gives u up to 20 deflections ouch Edit 2: man it's just so easy to stack deflection in deadfire. Correct me if I am wrong but from what I have read yesterday on that armor it gives Deflection only vs Disengaging Attacks, not flat Deflection vs everything.
  2. Last boss has like 153 fortitude, that disintegration is gonna take a while to even land a graze. That is only last boss. Like what on level 19-20 has problem with last boss? For sure it won't be Paladin/anything multiclass.
  3. Wish Cipher had more interesting gameplay than spamming Soul Anihilation.... Soul Blade is good sub for melee but every time I think about Soul Blade, I know Fighter/Zerker/Monk/Chanter/Rogue would be just plain better to multi than it and offers more than just taking whole subclass for spaming one ability. That is not towards your build OP- sound nice like every build with paladin- it's good for solo. I am just complaining how devs made Soul Blade boring and not really entertaining. Also you would have much better DPS at end-game levels with just spamming Desintegration. It pretty much one-shots everything in game.
  4. Yes, I tried a solo build and it was Awuful (Cipher side). Pretty much the only useful Cipher spell till like Level IV is Wishper of Treason to create a temporary "tank" for yourself. However 90% if time I was killing everything with Wizard spells like Chillfog so pretty much I would be much better just going pure Wizard and having more Arcane at that point. Can't recommend.
  5. You don't need that saber, there are a lot of good ones already. I know that there are other "good" sabers, but the "very good" swords and rapiers are far earlier accessible. So now I consider: 1) stick to sabers, 2) go for swords, 3) go for rapiers, 4) drop devoted for base class fighter and mix all weapons. Its a difficult decision (atleast for me ), because I don't know if I can get all desired weapons (for example: I didn't get the sword Kapana Taga in my last playthrough although I killed Fyrgist in this game). Hey Man. As you said - best is to rush main quest to get Scordeo and then enjoy it for the rest of the game. There are other great Sabers like Sasha's for example https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/99883-all-unique-sabers-in-game-spoiler-of-items/ However if you want to stick to Swords, it's also great. Modwyr and Duskfall can be obtained super early and make great combo. For Modwyr just go Old CIty, get it, then go to pirate Island and talk to owner of Modwyr and say you want to keep her (so she is enchanted max) and for Duskfall just do peaceful solution between 2 families in Neketaka. You have to decide here
  6. Yes, but as Kaylon said- it's not needed. Mercy works best with healing chants, especially with party. But it also is boosting rapid recovery so much that it will heal you like crazy. do if i dont get unbending do i just do Mercy and Kindness + old siec or mercy + ancient? You can but at this point it won't matter once you have Brilliant from invocation. You can just go Mercy and Kindness + Mith Fyr or anything else as Rapid Recovery, your Armor + (if Herald) Fod / Lay on Hands will heal you like crazy. You also have 2x Second Wind with my build. Really don't think too much about Mercy and Kindness at that level :D.
  7. Yep, that has been my general thought too. I thought the companion would be able to last longer, but they will never get the myrid of insane items and buffs that an actual character earns. The gun enemies really hurt too since they will ignore your companion. Honestly, the accuracy of ranger is not really needed and that is really all you are getting with them. I think this combination has the highest accuracy in the game though, so it is a bit of a novelity build in that sense. It would of course be really power in a party, or fine solo at lower difficulty. Yeah, Obsidian always drops the balls on Companions. Imo Companions should have classes and access to talents for them when you level up. For example bear would be Fighter and get talents increasing armor, engage, rapid recovery etc. Wolf would be Rogue, Bear Barbarian etc etc. Right now they scale too poorly for anything.
  8. Actually they don't have good single damage. Pen Strike is nice, but since you have to burn resources on other abilitities he is really not that good vs single enemy. Rouges, Rangers, Paladins have better single target damage. But Agree that overall fighter is strongest melee class tied with monk. But both are pretty much there because of two abilities: Cleave Stance and Swift Flurry.
  9. Cos dex give u attack speed. But freom barbarian bonuses (frenzy) and passives, and bonuses from pistol u got MUCH more aspd. And becouse of multiplicating mehanic for additional aspd bonuses - bonus from dex almost usless. On the other hand, health is always useful for survivability and tanking. If u can heal 450 + from athletics skill - u must have big HP pool. And on top of that - barb (and human) have +dmg multipler when they have a half or lower HP. with this build u didnt see difference between 10 or 20 dex. But difference between 400 and 600 HP is very significant. And int give us something - for our bufffs. Something is better that nothing from dex You can just drop pistol and use Dragon Dowyr arquebus- it gives buff that gives -75% recovery for 30 sec (+ INT bonus duration). Just use buff at the beginning instead of that pistol, switch to melee and enjoy.
  10. Yes, but as Kaylon said- it's not needed. Mercy works best with healing chants, especially with party. But it also is boosting rapid recovery so much that it will heal you like crazy.
  11. I tried this build for PotD solo (scale All, only up), and although I was making progress the Companion die waaay too fast. Against group of enemies it just dies after few first attacks. Moreso if they have couple of rangers with firearms. I can keep calling back new ones but I takes Bonds (so I don't really use abilities) and it takes my recovery. Charm is super good, but if you miss it when you need it- you are dead. What I don't like so far is having to keep all Bonds for resummoning Ghost. On the other hand I am sure that only Ghost works in early game. Normal Companion would die many times and I would suffer penalties, with Ghost I just resummon, so subclass is definitely correct for this build. But them dying fast gets another problem- if you are left with one enemy- you can keep charming him and attack him. But more than one survived- you are pretty screwed in early game on solo. Build is definitely interesting and later on I guess could work but it's a little bit too big of chore for me in early-mid game because of how squishy companions are. Probably Ranger/Chanter would work better. You could just ignore your companion, take Sharpshooter and focus on summoning and then being at range.
  12. You want to play Devoted/Monk (especially the Devoted part) dual wielding a pistol and a sabre? Anyways, this build has definitely inspired me to make a Devoted/Monk, though I'm definitely thinking SHattered Pillar instead. Everything looks pretty much the same except picking up Vigorous Defence, since there is no need to get hit. By Dual wielding I meant Scordeo sabre + Any other melee (best Fin's Fortune imo) sabre to it. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Scordeo Pistol is great for not for this build, though I am thinking of making Ranger my next solo build and using it.
  13. And that is why I don't auto-patch single player RPGs . If they nerf brilliant I won't patch game till I get bored of Chanter. Even then I might mod it or keep old version of abilities file to replace in patched game. I don't think Brilliant is OP, it's that some abilities that use resources are too strong and cost too little.
  14. Disagree on Undending. It's absolutely useless on this build. You have so much healing that there is no point wasting 1 ability point on this one and 3 resources point to activate it. At point of Brilliant inspiration you just kill things faster than it can damage you and both of those builds have crazy self heals already. Not to mention with that builds you have 2x Second Wind which can heal you from 0-100 instantly. Unbending is a waste on those builds. You can already ignore at that point all healing/defensive abilities as you kill things so fast you don't waste time on tanking anything. Well you can disagree, but Vigorous Defense, Refreshing Defense, Determination are a waste of points as are all items with +%healing or damage reduction once you have Unbending - instead you can use items to increase your offensive power which is the main advantage of this class combo (maybe you can kill fast weak enemies, but your solo dps is not as good as a monk, a rogue or a cypher). Misscreant's Leather, Bone Setters Torc, Chameleon's Touch, Aegor's Swit Touch, Violet Redemption, Cutthroat Cosmo are great items which can increase your dps even further. Also instead of investing points into athletics you can put your points in alchemy for better drugs/potions and even more offense, and of course use only offensive chants... As i said- at point of the game - when you get Brilliant, it does not matter at all anymore. You can switch out Vig.Defense and Refreshing Defense and Determination but nothing that you will take instead of that is needed or will change anything at this point. Unbending is also not necessary. Level VII is peak power of this build. One you can have infinite resources- it just does not matter at all. Sure you can drop Vig. Def and Ref. Def and take.... what? Improved Critical and Weapon Specialization. Sure you can- but you deal so much damage at this poit that extra 10% dmg and 10% crit damage will change nothing. I covered abilities that are useful till you get to Level VII. Unbending is not. And after Level VII- there will be no difference. But hey- anyone build as he prefers
  15. 4 Fighters/Monks with dual wielding, One Kind Wayfarer or Priest/Chanter for healing and getting back resources for everyone at 19 level. I don't even think you would need gear at all....
  16. That only means that your accuracy is low. I had no problems Paralyzing or Charming enemies with my invocations. Sure sometimes they resist and some enemies have better resistances for specific debuffs/CC but that is normal. Make sure you start with max Perception and use your party members to boost your accuracy to give you better chances of hitting enemies. And if they are resistant- well, some won't. I soloed PotD with Difficulty mod + scalling up with Chanter 2 times now and I had no problems.

  18. Between those two definitely Fighter. Charge + Cleave stance offers much more AOE Dps than Carnage, which is alone not impressive. You can use Two-Handed you will deal more damage from auto attacks but you will lose a lot of damage from Full Attacks (Charge, Flames of Devotion, Cleave Stance, Penetrating Strike) as dual weapons hit two times for those vs one hit from two-handed. So for Devoted I would still recommend dual wield, but for Paladin you can always switch or respec as you are not binded by that 1st level pick as Devoted is. So definitely try them out
  19. We should buff Chanters. My proposition: 1. Brisk Invocation gives now 1 Pharese per 1 seconds instead of 3 and keeps linger 3. Beaconer can summon 2x bigger and stronger summons and with -3 Phrases cost 4. Skald has 250% chance to get 5 Phrases back on Crit 5. Also now Brilliant is removed from Level VII and moved to Level I chant as it's sadly not good at all. 6. All damage invocation get 100% dmg buff. Hope this changes will make chanter more appealing to players like OP
  20. Glad to hear it you have a fun . White Worms will give that AOE damage later when you level up. Later in game you can swap Skeletons for Gernics Slew (3 wurms) or have both summons as level 1 and 3 doesn't offer really any other good invocations anyway. Buy yourself (as I mentioned in my post when replying to Katalysta) Dragon's Dowyr for that Blaze Furry buff at the beginning of fight before you switch to mele weapons - it's a huge dps boost for Herald. Goes really well with Scorpedo Sabre + Modwyr/what you like. Have fun!
  21. Actually it’s even crazier to use scrodeo has cipher, u can reach 0.1sec/0.0sec with time parasite + 0 recovery. That spells is broken now it has no cap, u can get +800% action speed with it l.. Lol it stacks? Seriously? LOL :D
  22. Nice To hear it! If that will help- I started POE2 15 times before I got settled on Chanter/Melee hybrids. With Paladin you will be pretty much immortal later, especially if you took kind wayfarer or the shieldbearer subclass (Which combos nicely with Sacred Immolation). Once you get to level VII (I know, quite late) and you will use on yourself "Set to Their Purpouse" you can use Sacred Immolation on yourself no problem as you will constatly have resources back for Lay on Hands to heal yourself no problem. Btw. Another item you may want to get (I will updat above later) is rifle Dragon's Dowry (can be bought in Neketaka in Brass Citdadel from Uto)- it gives ability called Blazing Furry which gives -75% Recovery for 30 seconds (more with higher INT). You can use it at the beginning of combat (this buff) and switch to melee and still have that buff going. Also if you'd like to use Two-Handed Weapon instead of Dual Wielding early (before you get unique Sabres/Swords/Rapiers), the best what you can do is use Whispers of the Endless Paths early in game (take shards to blacksmith in Neketaka)- it will give you AOE melee damage in cone (something that Paladins lacks), however your FOD will suffer from lower DPS but you can always switch to different weapons when needed. If you'd like to branch out later for different build- you can do it using Mod without having to start game from new. That's how I test new builds. If you will need it- reach me on PM.
  23. That depends a bit on if there are key enemies that are charm immune. In theory it should do really well solo because: 1) It starts out really strong. Probably among the strongest of any class combination in the early game. 2) It has great crowd control with charm abilities and your ranger pet. Crowd control is really important when soloing. In particular, the "ghost" ranger is good solo because you can recast your "animal companion" should it die and you don't take penalties when it dies... and it will probably die a lot since it is covering the tanking duties. The "bond" cost isn't really a downside because you don't have anything you really need to use your bond on anyway. 3) In the mid-late game you get the most powerful damage spell in the game and you can cast it over and over and over again while ascended at no cost. This will nearly instantly kill any enemy in the game. Wich spell is that? Detonate? Is the ghost pet a fast cast? It's Disintegration. It has 3.0 sec cast time but I guess if you are ranger and your Charm + Pet keep aggro you can really spam it from distance, basicelly every fast is deleted enemy. Though it's quite late game with multiclass.
  24. I think from damage perspective it is. However solo is often hard because of enemy CC. This build does not have any crazy defenses and needs to wear light armor. So unless you can make sure that your Charm enemy and pet always takes everything - it will work. However, one CC and you are dead, especially in early-mid game. But this sounds like really interesting build! Not another Fighter/something build or Monk/something build. Ranger is so rare to see here and that combo seems to work really well. I will give it a go OP at one point. Would be great if you could test it for solo more and make some adjustments if necessary
