  1. So... does anyone actually knows what are the consequences of choosing either side? Spill your beans people... and don't be shy about it because this is the spoiler section of the forum.
  2. I'm in the same position as you. My main is a cipher, so Alloth is basically rendered useless in my party. The only reason why I keep him its because I'm curious to see how his character progresses (story, dual-personality thing, etc) and the occasional time where some of his spells are actually useful. I'm probably just bad at managing wizards in this game but... his damage sucks, his spells hurt my team more than the enemies, he dies pretty quickly all the time (because of his positioning vs spell usage)... I think I'm going to kick him and add someone more useful, like a pala or another fighter. I don't really like Kana either...
  3. Is there lots of booze involved? I refuse to watch a wrestling match between man and bear without BOTH being drunk beyond hope! *Images them charging at each other, shouting and roaring, only to trip on a rock and landing flat on the floor afterwards* Challenger: ZzZzZzZ Bear: ZzZzZ *grunt* ZzZ
  4. 100% this. Role-playing means playing the game with your character's perspective. If you think your character, alone, tired and ill-prepared, is able to fight a wild bear under unknown circumstances then you're not truly role-playing, you're playing this game like most players do and who expect their characters to be the fearless, killing machines right off from the start. Even if you had some fighting experience in real-life, would you go out there alone and ill-equipped to fight a wild bear? Specially just after being warned that its a potentially aggressive animal because it just "claimed" one life? I'm not trying to insult you OP, just trying to give you a new perspective on role-playing. Practice makes perfect after all.
  5. Rationality? We're talking about faith here, not science or logic. Ancients used to build temples and commit sacrifices to appease the gods. In theory, the more people worship a deity the more power it gains over the mortal realm, which increases the chances of miracles happening. Don't ask. Put yourself in Raedric shoes - the man has tried everything, from regular medicine, to spiritualism to necromancy. When science no longer provides answers, people usually resort to more traditional means to obtaining results and comfort the mind. What else is there for them to try anyway? He believes that by worshiping Berath, the divine will grant kith the ability to conceive normal children again. Berath watches over the dead and the cycles of life, that also includes when a soul exits and enters a new body. Hollowborn are children who are born without souls, so it makes sense.
  6. There's a reason why they don't belong to any culture... instead of finnicking with game commands why don't you just play the game itself?
  7. Neither paths are inherently good or evil, its just a matter of how you perceive it. As it stands, I'm slightly inclined to side with Raedric. Kolsc seems like the popular choice but he doesn't strike me as a capable leader, more like a power-hungry kid who wants to be on the throne. He tries to look like a "people's person" but I don't know if that's just an act to get the populace on his side or not... He doesn't seem minimally interested in helping or finding a cure for the Hollowborn curse either. My reaction to him: "Good job, you 'inherited' a broken, dying land whose half of the population is dead and the other half is unable to produce viable offsprings. Enjoy your short reign!" Raedric strikes me as a harsh man, a cold leader. He's someone who is capable of making though decisions and committing sacrifices for the "greater good"... even if that comes with a heavy cost. He is both ruthless and mad, but also the ONLY man in Gilded Vale who is TRYING to liberate his land from the curse. He believes that in killing some people now, more lives will be saved in the future. Its a though decision with no guarantees of success... but I think a small chance is better than none, and Kolsc doesn't look like he will do squat about it. I hope Eder forgives me... because I'm going to side with Raedric.
  8. People need to understand one thing: An opinion = / = a critique. Opinions can be interjected with different tastes, leading to a moot argument between different parties. A critique should be based on facts, which are much harder to counter. Critiques exist to point out the good and the bad in something, while remaining objective and clear about it. If people are just going to spew a bunch of hatred and poorly written opinions (which can lead to misunderstandings) then they shouldn't be surprised if they end up labeled as trolls. Negative opinions usually bring negative reactions, which leads to a negative environment... and these are rarely constructive in any way.
  9. Replace the wizard with a cipher and you're good to go. Ciphers can do pretty much almost anything a Wiz can do (CC, Damage and Weaken foes) but unlike the wizard, the cipher can keep casting spells without having to rest, which is a huge advantage in my opinion. My entire party is able to roll for days, the only exception being the priest, which becomes useless after having used all his spells. All the accuracy in the world won't help if you can't hit for crap - you need damage too, otherwise you won't get through the mob's DR. With no damage, you're basically relying on crits to do any worthwhile numbers (which ins't very wise IMO). Unlike in Baldur's Gate (where having blunt/crushing weapons was the ideal) this game pretty much incentives you to have a weapon set for each occasion. Skeletons are resistant to piercing weapons for example. If you're having problems with heavy DR then use stilettos, their specially ability allows them to pierce through armor. The combo weapons are probably the best ones to carry though.
  10. Its not a bug, you're just misinterpreting it. The game counts in-game hours, not real-time. Each time you travel between regions you get a pop up that says "You have traveled for X hours", so according to the title you still have 2 in-game days ahead of you before the upgrade the complete.
  11. You mean how the shadows move dynamically according to your location? That's your character field of view and its intended. A bit unrealistic if you ask me because the shadows should move according to the Sun's height, not the character perception but hey...
  12. Starting again about mid-way is a common theme for me, sometimes for the same reason as yours. Honestly, if you're even thinking about it then its best to just make a backup of your current saves and start again, because the temptation will keep gwaning at you. I know how it goes. However, here's some points that you should consider: 1) Just because you're a paladin it doesn't mean you can't go around killing other priests. If they worship a god you despise then all the more reasons to go for it. Same thing applies if they're corrupt priests and your duty compels you to put them down see them to justice. 2) As a paladin, your duty is to your oath and to your god. Sometimes you do good, sometimes you do evil (it depends on what kind of paladin you are / want to role-play). 3) If you're experiencing issues with a specific battle then either you're ill-prepared or your too low level for it. Explore and level some more before trying it again.
  13. The game HAS incentives for sleeping in a room (aka long-lasting buffs) but I don't think there's enough incentive to convince lazy players to go back and forth. I'm not even sure incentives is what we need here. What we DO need is a better camping supply cap (or the removal of it) and , IMO, easy difficulty should't have a limit.
  14. Can this game even be moded? I remember hearing that it wasn't possible, nor were developer tools mod even released for that.
  15. So you're skipping an entire game, and all it offers, simply because it lacks the option to walk? Honest question here - do you suffer some form of obsessive compulsion, or a mania? Because that's not normal... Everyone has different tastes and quirks, but those don't usually prevent people from enjoying different things.
  16. I would like to know as well. However if this is a case where XP is shared with every member, then I don't see how adding a 6th party member will make it worse compared to only 5 members. Its still slow anyway, and the extra help is often times more useful than whatever tinesy little XP you would be saving.
  17. This is an issue that I've faced twice in the game now - once after exiting the tutorial zone and again just recently. If you don't follow the storyline and decide to wander off a bit and explore new regions, chances are you will eventually stumble upon scripted events that will treat you as if you had already done the story up to that point. Character names will be mentioned, as well as other significant hints that may ruin / spoil the story for you. When I died after exiting the tutorial zone (I stumbled upon a group of bandits and I was alone) the gamed said "The Watcher has died". I did not know what a Watcher was and seeing that in big, bold letters kinda ruined the surprise of learning who my character was by myself. The second time was after I met the dwarf huntress (Sagani?) and ventured off to find this person she was looking for. When I found the location, the dwarf mentioned the name of a very important person in my story (I did not know who but I added 2 and 2 together to assume who he was) and its not a person I have directly met or learned of his name yet. Again, another spoiler... Maybe I'm just dramatizing a bit, and this is all not that important, but the way the events and characters are structured (without checking to see if the player is up to that point) kinda ruin the will to explore now... I'm afraid I will stumble upon things that will give away too much. In a way, its like I'm being forced to complete the story before doing my own thing.
  18. Here's a list of interesting images I found exclusively on DeviantArt, enjoy. The images are unedited, so most of them are relatively large. Please understand that NONE of them are my work, they belong to their respective artists... and I'm just spreading their awesome work!
  19. You know that's what DAO did and I loved it. Made finding a portrait a non-issue since the pic actually was a pic of your character. DOS didn't do this and I have a terrible time trying to create the character to match one of the very limited portraits available. Right, I have to pick the portrait first and then try to match the actual character to it which is a terrible way to have to do it. I believe W2 actually gives you the option to do either ... the best of both worlds. Course then there's DAI which gives you no portrait of the actual PC at all. I really wish PoE gave more options. I know this struggle all too well. I'm going to suggest what I did with Baldur's Gate - its the portrait that dictates how your character looks like, not the body options in the character creation. Remember how in Baldur's Gate your character was nothing more than a bunch of pixels with a humanoid silhouette and some resemblance of armor? Well, let's just pretend this game is the same thing and roll with it. I don't think PoE has scripted events that make a reference to the hair colors and face you picked when making a character, so all is good in that regard. I know its not an easy thing to do at first - specially if we're nitpickers (like me) who prefers portraits that stay true to what the race is and represents. I'm having the hardest of times trying to find a deer-woman for my nature godlike. We just have to give artists enough time to make some more PoE-inspired portraits and we should be good to go. ------------------------------------------------------------ On an completely unrelated note... if anyone can find an interesting looking deer-woman for my nature godlike, I would appreciate it immensely. I found this piece of art that looks very, very similar to what I'm looking for but sadly its not colored. Art belongs to Lizzuzci
  20. Forgive me for being blunt but how exactly are people supposed to know which art belongs to who when you just stumble upon it on the internet? Google has millions of images, and there's just as many websites dedicated to hosting similar things. Even if the person in question wanted to give the artist their due credit, it gets to a point where its just impossible - the image has probably been re-uploaded so many times from so many sources that it just becomes a hopeless quest. If you're the real artist then you have all the rights in the world to demand credit (and anyone who says otherwise either has no morals or has never invested enough time into art to recognize and respect the plea of fellow artists). However... you shouldn't go all blazing guns on people assuming they're doing in purpose because you never know how they acquired it and where. Identify yourself as the artist, request the credit that yours and provide a link to your art website (DeviantArt for example) in case they're interested to similar pieces, but don't be rude about it... There's no need to be rude.
