Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...
Junai replied to Sand's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
I don't like abstractions. I prefer specifics. Get Rolemaster then.. J. -
Install and play NWN1 for 10 minutes, take a close look at the animations. Then install NWN2 and play it for 10 minutes. Zoom in and watch animations, and compare. Then log on here, and see if you still agree with what you just said. Oh, and do put your glasses on before playing. Not that you need it though, just to be sure. As for the story. Sure. Great story in 2. Wish I got to play the game as well, not just watch it play iself. J.

Icewind Dale Revisited - GameBanshee Feature

And the basis for this is? General suckage in the game-industry. J. -
Yes it is. It's a total rip-off.

Depends who draws them. The cartoonish drawings that fill the D&D 3'rd+ edition books vary so much in style and quality that they couldn't possibly tell the readers anything about D&D elves. I don't see how those pictures appeal to anyone but kids. Different races and classes portrayed in all shapes and sizes, often in half-manga/ half-DC-Comics style. Quite repulsive imho. Why not find a couple of high-quality artists like John Howe or Alan Lee, and have them work with Wizards to create a quality universe. The D&D books these days are just.. tacky. Check out this exhibition.. Wonderful! J.

Icewind Dale Revisited - GameBanshee Feature
Junai replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
I doubt you even know which games you like and not. I bet you dislike NWN2, but you tell people in here that you love it (am I right? c'mon, be honest). Just like that game-reviewer (Sand? or you?) who gave NWN1 a high score because he thought most people would probably like it (is my memory correct?). How amazingly abysmally spineless! In order to tell if a game has soul or not, you first need to have a soul. You don't. HAHAHAHA!!. So there. Junai - amazingly off topic (delete post at discr.). -

Icewind Dale Revisited - GameBanshee Feature

If only they could add a short module, a few maps, I would have a reason to play IWD1 again. I played it five or six times already. -
Nono.. Support is king. Re-creating the game however.. heh.. well I guess that's one way of doing it. I'll give it another run once the multiselect patch is ready. The henchmen,.. do they behave now btw? Not moving, fighting, casting spells and quaffing potions at will even with puppet mode on? (just wondering). J.
-
Why do they implement these changes now, like multiselect etc, several months after release!? A lot of people were disappointed and gave up on the game already. Now the devs desperately try to remedy this by implementing things we could've told them to add to the game, long before release? It's like that gf who regrets everything, and comes begging again, long after she ditched you. Bleh.. It had better become freaking good if I am to change my mind now. J.

GemRB - Play NWN2 with the Infinity Engine!
Junai replied to Lare Kikkeli's topic in Computer and Console
nwn2 with infinity.. goodie. Might actually be bothered to finish the game then. Tell'em to add some big areas so I can explore a little. railroading is teh sh*t. -
Drizzt must be the only character in FR that is not a copy of any of Tolkien's Middle-Earth heroes.. That makes him pretty unique. And how can faith be out of place for FR? It's a world with 100+ Gods no? J.
-
Make it a IWD 1 add-on please..

Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

Priorities? Who cares about cosmetics, when you can't even play the game in multiplayer without minute-long monster-lags. Or the fact that a small tavern-module is the size of a whole chapter in NWN1? Gonna need entire server-clusters just to run a small village. Maybe one could adress such issues first, and discuss minuscule details like "snapshot for rangers in manamode over lvl 14 doesn't work when facing orcs who wear studded-leather", and similar stuff later on? Thankee.. J.

If I want a good story, I watch a movie. Games are meant to be played.

A few people, myself included, tried to start a "patch-thread" like the one over at Bio-boards, and they were locked. Now *this* will be the OE-fora patch-thread? 3 pages of bitching, whining and one-liners? What's wrong with the mods over here? How about locking this thread, and let someone start a real patch-thread. And if someone fills it with OT-posts, delete them? Jeez.. how hard can it be? J.
-
People adress beta-issues and wishes in 3 different threads now. Why can't mods stop being so damn nazi, and allow people to start a new thread about what they wanna see in new betas? It's not like anyone's reading page 7 in Skeeter's Junkyard NWN2 Technical issues anyway. Threads are filled to the brim with one-liner-bs-posts so that neurotic fanboys can get 10k+ post-counts, but when someone tries to start a new thread about something interesting, they get insta-deleted? J.
-
These aren't technical challenges, but rather what you'd like to see in a new patch.. Whatever..
-
The OE support-page states that NWN2 patches "provide you with an opportunity to give us feedback and to identify issues with patches before they are released." I haven't seen any threads on this, so I thought maybe I should start one. Maybe people could scribble down their (realistic) wishes for new patches here. I just installed the 1.03 beta patch, and I was wondering if a few things could be changed: 1) Free cam. You used to be able to rotate the camera, and zoom in and out in the free-cam mode. This has changed after I installed the beta-patch. I mainly use the free-cam mode, and now I can't rotate the camera with mouse or keyboard anymore, just move it n-s-e-w. I've tried all keys. Is it be possible to change this so that I could *move* the camera n-s-e-w with the mouse, by going to the edges of the screen, and *rotate* the camera using the left- and right-keys? Then I'd have both freedom to move and ability to rotate. 2) Zooming. When I walk down the road from the plateau in the Blacklake district, the camera doesn't follow, so I'm zoomed further "out" than usual. Could this be added as a permanent option, so that when I zoom using the arrow-keys, I'll be zoomed this far out wherever I am? I'd like to zoom further out. 3) Locking the camera. Whenever I've fiddled with the camera for a min or two, and I've found the right angle/zoom, it's reset the moment I enter or leave an area. This is really annoying, since I have to re-adjust the camera every... single... time... I enter a room/area/zone. Could this be fixed please? I hope someone will hear my pleas.. Feel free to add your concerns and wishes for new patches.. J.

Seems to me not much different from NWN1. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well.. I said the same thing about NWN1 4 years ago.. ^_^ Anyway, now that you have a party with cleric(s) and all, this hardly seems necessary.
-
The auto-rez'ing is one thing, but what about the "sitting on the sidewalk for 5 seconds to get full party-heal" -option? Why even bother memorizing healing-spells, or having a cleric in your party at all? Just die, and sit down afterwards to get a full party-heal. On the other hand, I'd go crazy if winning a fight depended on getting in an important heal-spell in the middle of the combat, which on my 2,8 ghz 7600gs -machine is laggy chaos of fireworks, crazy pathfiniding and weirdo AI even on lowest settings. So I guess auto-rez and auto-party-heal is the only way to make sure players don't lose interest completely. At this moment I'd rather have the game play itself actually, and just let me take part in some of the close-up dialogues.. kinda like those old rpg-books, "A: stay back -> go to side 54"/"B: walk boldly through the shadows -> go to side 108".. I used to like those books. J.
