  1. On Expert Mode - so Durance died at Anslogs Compass somehow (flank rushed by three extra Guls I hadn't accounted for, although I still thought he had plenty of Endurance, never mind) I travelled back via Magran's Fork to pick up the camping supplies in the hut there, and Durance is back at the statue! I'm able to talk to him, but he still remains out of the party and can't join up again. Seems like a bug.
  2. The 1st level priest Stop spell and 2nd level Cipher paralyze effect, plus the wizard 2nd level Fetid Caress spell are all awesome low risk openers. You can pick single targets off from range and get at least one kill before any mobs reach you - or concentrate on other enemies and leave the paralyzed guy. Coupled with Charm effects, these are the best ways to win harder fights imo. Also get your fighter in Defender mode so he ties up three attackers. I ruined the integrity of my Trial of Iron game by forgetting to set Defender mode on .
  3. I'm playing trial of iron but reloading plenty of times, through various means (mainly exit just before your last guy dies, but I also have backup saves occasionally despite the readme . I agree it's more tense so that's why I do it. I don't care about the achievement etc. and if I get it, I will readily denounce it to anyone that asks. I just find it more fun to play this way. Trial of Iron, Path of the Damned and Expert Mode. Bring it on! [edit] to be fair if you could turn off Trial of Iron I would have done so after the first reload. You can't. And I like my char and the two extras I hired and have since levelled up a couple of times. So I'm doing the reload thing rather than start exactly the same char again and do exactly the same things for 3 hours or whatever it was before my first reload).
  4. To the surprising number of people asking why anyone wants this - well, it's because it's a Role Playing Game. If your entire party, including fearless warrior/paladin and clumsy oaf barbarian, are forced to sneak around because your trap-finding expert is scouting ahead looking for traps, then I'm afraid it's a fail.
  5. Having been used to Baldur's Gate sight range, playing Pillars does feel like the world has gone blind - Day of the Triffids style. I'd like to see larger wilderness maps coupled with much larger (doubled) sight range.
  6. Yeah, that would be fun, and not at all an RNG irritation that people would reload out of almost without fail. Oooh, that's a good example. Remember how in Divinity:OS you would just carry around a repair hammer and thus make the entire durability system into little other than a minor irritation? Yeah, when it comes to durability systems, you can go the Fire Emblem route, or go home. And the Fire Emblem route would be complete garbage in this type of game. Yeah that was annoying in D:OS. Repairing sucks. I'm not suggesting that, I'm suggesting weapons break. Armour could I guess get repaired at an armourer, but since there are n thousand suits of armour every screen in PoE I doubt it would be made much use of. Oh and you reload every time you miss your first shot in combat?? Wow.
  7. I already read the text way ahead of the voice and click through conversations quickly. Waste of development money imo. BG1 had it right. Short but sweet. The longer story-driven VOs for the chars in PoE are fine, but the VO style of each character is not memorable. One man's 'memorable' is another man's 'lame fantasy stereotype', I know....
  8. I want to lose myself in a believable world. The real world is also fine, tho. Honest. I get that. But for you, you need more than others do. Do you understand that? The game isn't made for you, it's made for most people. It can't be any other way. Mods can help with this kind of thing for those who need them. Interested to know what you're looking for from a fantasy cRPG then?
  9. You wouldn't usually fix a broken weapon. You'd need a new one. In my game, most of my characters are carrying several spare weapons at all times. I don't see the issue, to be honest. It adds value to loot.

  11. So now I can blame the kickstarter dudes for some more stuff, as well as tombstones and goldeNPCs... Yes, yes I know the game wouldn't have been made otherwise. I'll just have to make do with what we've got
  12. Doubtless some people will cry 'micromanagement' but I would love to see a more realistic and immersive system of wear and tear on weaponry. At the moment as far as I can tell (I've only played 70 hours and not yet into Act III) weapons are indestructible and guns always work. It would be great if the tradeoff for using a gun not a bow was that occasionally the gun would jam (useless for that combat) or backfire (hahaha). Weapons should also break. A broken weapon should still be usable but with -10 or more accuracy and lower damage. Weapons breaking would also open up bashing down doors and containers. Divinity:OS allows that, which was refreshing, and it's a pity PoE didn't go that route. These systems (and encumbrance) are holding back the immersion factor for me, in an otherwise brilliant game, which is a shame!
  13. Use both. Leave some at the Stronghold. Problem solved.
  14. Haha you don't really expect us to believe you've quit do you? You'll fire it up again within a week...
  15. Huh? I love the reload animations. Are we talking about the same thing?
  16. The system is flexible enough to mean no need for multiclassing. The thought never even crossed my mind. I can already play a warrior wizard, or a loremaster thief. Why would anyone ever 'multi-class'?
  17. Yeah - but you'll maybe need one or two reloads unless you've done it before. Gets a whole lot easier once you get to level 6 or so (I'm finding, on 'Hard'). Possibly...too....easy (ducks for cover)
  18. At Might 4 you shouldn't be able to wear heavy armour or lift a decent weapon. Tsk. I hope they add that sort of mechanism. This whole Might being both physical and mental strength and Intel being AoE on everything is also pretty horrible imo. How do you play a dumb Barbarian who cleaves everything in sight?
  19. Although I've mentioned a dislike of kickstarter on other posts, I wouldn't mind - as long as it's on the understanding we give our money so the designers and developers can achieve their vision without compromise - and not so we get to insert loads of annoying personalised content (mentioning no examples, of course). I'm paying the developers NOT other contributors.
  20. If you read my post I was pointing out the fact the same reviewer rates certain other games 9/10 - that surprised me. A poster on the Gamepost comments (renzuken3) has gone to great lengths to voice similar concerns. At the end of the day it's just a score - sure. But I guess I'm surprised at this particular one in view of the same reviewers scores for other games. He's only human, I guess. As I asked in another thread (no response) if this is 8/10 or less can someone point me at an RPG that is in their opinion 9/10? Cheers!
  21. Yeah but again I relate his 9/10 scores for other same-genre games (DA:I and D:OS) to PoE and find it odd that he considers PoE a full 'point' on whatever his scale is, worse.
  22. I autopause on enemy sighted and combat started. Not really noticed any issues other than shouts of 'it's not working' from chars when it is, in fact, working. Think there are some creases to iron out. Remember there is no party AI so although the characters should attack automatically, best to err on the side of clicking them on a specific enemy. Certainly not noticed charned/green characters attacking mine until they turn red again, although the charm sometimes takes a while to kick in.
  23. I would like more distinctive voice acting. It's quite bland at the moment. More European accents would be nice. Don't they watch Game of Thrones?? (Disclaimer: I'm European)
