  1. Caught up on forum business after I was away all day yesterday. Visited a German amusement park called Phantasialand with my family, wasn't extremely big but had some of the best and most beautifully themed rides. Their new log flume ride Chiapas especially is worth visiting (or looking up an onride youtube video of) having the biggest log flume drop in the world, and their B&M Rollercoaster Black Mamba is a great ride as well. B&M makes the best coasters, so fluid. Intense experience without getting banged up like in a Mack or Intamin.
  2. Joke thread closed, not before being pruned. Went off topic almost instantly and was meant just to get a rise out of people.
  3. Finally caught up on the games after being stuck traveling all day yesterday. Gotta say, Costa Rica made that game so amazingly boring. It's a good thing not all soccer games are elimination, because if more teams played like that everyone would stop watching the sport out of sheer frustrated boredom. Time to see if Holland can beat the amazing Messi and his pointless meatpuppets. Looking forward to Germany - Brazil, though I wish Brazil had lost their last match because they played like jerks.
  4. This thread has gone completely off-topic. Closed. If you want to talk about communism vs capitalism do so in Way Off-Topic, not here.
  5. Continuation of topic here. Last discussion was Uplay integration.
  6. Continuation of this thread. Last topic discussion was whether or not it was a true Kickstarter game.
  7. It's unification day! We sent the browncoats running! Wait, wrong universe. Happy 4th all.
  8. Well, poop. They took it down. Here's a YouTube one instead. I watched How To Train Your Dragon 2 and it was pretty good. Not quite as good as the first because it was a little less polished and a couple of the action sequences failed to impress, but it came really close and made up for its flaws with a healthy dose of humor. Had quite a lot of character development for a DreamWorks animation and a few surprisingly touching moments. Pixar is still top dog but DreamWorks and Disney's 3D animation studio have really been closing the gap. To be fair, DreamWorks makes as many duds as they make winners and it doesn't look like their upcoming lineup has anything interesting. I also caught Grand Budapest Hotel and it was fun, it had that unique flair and wit that Wes Anderson tends to have. Almost every shot had wonderful color contrast and composition. Little style over substance but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Realized I'd never managed to catch Moonrise Kingdom either, so I'm gonna be taking a look at that pretty soon.
  9. Gave up on chairs in favour of stools, excercise balls and standing today. Bad sitting posture combined with a bit too sedentary lifestyle was causing backpains and weakening my core muscles and I just never managed to catch myself before slipping into that posture again whenever I was focusing on work. I feel a lot more energetic already.
  10. Yeah, Belgians seem to really dislike us where we just kinda look at them in this "little brother" way. If we're annoyed, we may question if the brother is all right in the head, though.
  11. I am neither happy nor sad about this. I enjoy the occassional romance but not every game needs it.
  12. Can't you just say no? Curses! Why didn't I think of that? I was exaggerating anyway. I just thought it was funny.
  13. Went shopping with my girlfriend. Dear god help me, what have I done. Steam sale is nothing compared to this punch in the wallet!
  14. I think your actual post is in the wrong place there, Oerwinde. Legend of Korra starting again, and the first couple of episodes have been remarkably competent as well as gorgeously animated. Looking forward to the rest of the season, but expecting another letdown of a finale.
  15. No you absolutely can't and I don't think anyone is suggesting that. I'm in the same boat with W2, I didn't back the game but I will be buying the final released product I have this for PoE - when I woke up the night after the kickstarted opened, it already reached its goal. They didn't need my meager amount of available funds backing it to make it, so I decided I would buy it when it gets released so they'll make a profit out of it.
  16. Not a backhand at all, I was sincere in that I'm not saying that. Lotsa married people here. It says a lot about your cynicism that you decided to take it otherwise and that makes me take your claims about BruceVC acting with a grain of salt as it seems more your filter than anything else. I added it simply because "some people don't have that luxury" made it seem like that backhand.
  17. I wasn't even on forums back then (I was 13) so for the longest time I thought Gromnir was actually patterned after the character, rather than the other way around. The story about Lanfear and her Coran obsession was hilarious when I found out, I swear I thought it was a reference to Wheel of Time. And that by far is one of the most insightful posts I've heard, well played I know certain people will automatically dismiss this article just because I posted it. But that's fine, I would rather debate with people who want to debate and to add constructive comments to these types of issues ( and I don't mean people have to agree with me ) Remember TN you don't raise SJ issues to be popular, its actually the opposite. Because most people don't like to be reminded of the ubiquitous inequality that's exists around us but generally doesn't effect them. But I don't care about popular opinion when it comes to my principles, I raise certain issues because I feel its the right thing to do But saying all that I acknowledge that article isn't excellent, its interesting but I can see where it fails to deliver the message Trust me, I know. I've raised a fair amount of ruckus about the particular subject of how women are treated in the game industry myself - and I've also learned that my perspective was also skewed in some ways because people here actually responded to the contents of the things I posted rather than just attack me personally. An article I posted by game designer Ernest Adams about how "we" are responsible for how women are treated comes to mind, which I came to realize through that discussion was the finest example of white knighting on the planet, guy may as well have been wearing a sign that said "come hither weak women, for I shallt protect thou" and I was wrong to defend him even if he raised some good points. One of the reasons I like this board is because it challenges me, a lot of people here are smarter than I am and it keeps me on my toes. Which is part of the reason why I think it's unfair that what you post is automatically being dismissed. The article you posted is poorly written but it has some meat to it and I'm glad some posters are actually talking about it because different perspective means everyone stands to learn something, even if it's just about other posters. The posters that came in only to dismiss you might as well be wearing their own signs: "Look how edgy I am". Dismissing someone by taking the time to write a post about it for everyone to see isn't really dismissing someone anyway, it's just asking for attention. Trolling at it's finest. On another note, I find it interesting most women you know don't care. For me, I took an interest in the subject in the first place was because I've seen it first hand from the perspective of most of the women in my life and I've heard them complain about it regularely. I'm lucky in that I know a *lot* of female gamers. From my best friends, my girlfriend, my colleagues and even my mother. Most people here don't seem to have that luxury. Not a judgement, not saying people here don't know women or "can't get a girl" or whatnot, I just know a lot of women gamers and this issue is a much more active part of my life than most others - and if they were here, they could fight their own battles and I wouldn't have to bring it up. It makes me concerned that you may be white knighting, like my aforementioned example, which would be a big disappointment to me personally because I happen to enjoy your positive outlook. It's a nice contrast to all the snark.
  18. I wonder if this article would have gone over better if someone else posted it. Probably not. The article was pretty badly written and illogical.
  19. To be fair, the character they included as you was a paranoid dictator. Just sayin'.
  20. http://vimeo.com/99291115 The short animation Duet by legendary former Disney animator Glen Keane. It's absolutely gorgeous.
  21. I think he enjoys the falls more than actually playing the game. I can just imagine a voice inside his head going "wheeeeee!"
  22. My friend with high blood pressure has now resolved to no longer watch any of the games because that nearly killed him.
  23. Upset ??? You should be celebrating Not that kind of upset! I could hear my neighbourhood explode with joy. XD
