I have also heard about not notifying the player if you received light or dark side points...what are your thoughts? I think that there are two sides, more realism, but less sense of control...
So, as you progress down the DS path, your dialogue options are less light and more dark? I like that idea, more realism, but there should always be that option to go light again, just so you don't have to restart a game, you know?
