In What aspect is Kotor I better than II?
Dark Moth replied to extracheesy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
K1's story in retrospect, especially if you're a lightsider, was also a lot more charming. K2's story was ugly. I know some people like that, but others don't. And of course, K1's story was actually complete. Also, the characters for the most part in K1 seemed more likeable, and in a way more "unified". There seemed to be a friendship mentality among them. Whearas in K2, the characters pretty much disliked or were distrustful of each other. Even with all the cut content though, I don't think the story would be all that much better. It's a pretty common thing for people to say "Oh, it was okay. But if it had the cut content, it'd be that much better." I've looked at what a lot of the cut content has to offer. Frankly, I don't think it really improves the storyline a whole lot. The filled plotholes would definitely help, though. In my honest opinion, K2 shouldn't have been a direct sequal to K1. K1 didn't even need a sequal. It was fine by itself. K2 should have just started with a new storyline in a different time period, while still being set in the Old Republic. By trying to make it a direct sequal, they made the writing that much harder, made the storyline much more complicated, and also dug themselves into a hole with the cliffhanger ending. Now, it has to be a trilogy. If K3 weren't made, it'd be like them stopping the movie trilogy at Empire Strikes Back. -

If you really hate SW games, why do you play them? And really, you might as well accept that Jedi and the Force are part of the SW universe. It's what makes Star Wars what it is. So naturally, people are going to want to play as Jedi and Sith. -
Extended versions are way better. Now that I have the extended editions, I find myself watching them only instead of the theatrical versions. They're longer, but the extra scenes really add to the film (in content, not just length).

What were you expecting, honestly? You know how to push my buttons and so you do it. Don't tell me you didn't intend to provoke me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My comment was meant to provoke you. But I added the last part just to make it clear that I was only kidding and not posting seriously. Even still, it's not very hard to do it. Ever notice how easy it is to get a rise out of you? And about your comment to numbers about not coping with different viewpoints, you've been guilty of the same thing over and over. It's just that he's been able to argue his viewpoint much better than you have. If you want people to take you seriously, don't throw a tantrum whenever something annoys you, learn to back up your statements with more than just opinion, and don't degenerate into hurling insults whenever someone challenges your viewpoint. And for the love of god, don't argue like Battlwookie, who can't muster the guts to admit he's wrong even when facts are shoved in his face.

You want to piss me off, you succeded, congrats kn

Just as long as you realise that what you read in that book is not objective and unbiased information. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup. Well, nothing's really objective when it comes to things like this. Even the stuff they teach you about Islam in school is biased. The guy does however back up his statements with historical sources, including the Quran and Hadith. It's very interesting, if not just for the alternative viewpoints.

Shut your burger eating pie hole and do some research before you put forth your bile, please. Oh and kiddo, "bjork" is Icelandic... Go back to your corner now and read that old fairy tale book of yours. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow. Did it even occur to you that I was only joking in my post? Hence the phrase "seriously, though"? But I guess such things are beyond your ability to comprehend. Okay, so I screwed up on the language. Sorry. But you of all people shouldn't talk to anyone about research, especially given your vast knowledge in the field of religion. Let me tell you something: debate isn't your forte. And do you know why? Because as evidenced by all your posts and lack of mature responses to any given situation, the opinions you post are based on little more than misinformation and plain opinion. So far the only thing you've proved is that you lack both the knowledge and maturity to post your opinions without degenerating into your usual round of insults and name-calling and "Stf u!!!" responses, especially as evidenced by your post above (not the one I'm quoting). By exhibiting your debate skills, which so far have amounted to little more than that of a five-year old, you've only shown that you can't really be taken seriously or given any benefit of the doubt in these matters. Kid.

Nah, we're just in a different age now. You can't behave like that anymore. I'm sorry but you're simply just outta luck, you should have had your time to shine a few centuries ago instead if you wanted to act all warmongering like. Ohhh that's right, you didn't exist back then. By the way, BW and Commie ought to get a friggin' room, this is ****ing hot! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, and you Danes had your time...what? Centuries ago? Mostly by picking on villages smaller and weaker than yourself, before you wasted away into the background and replaced by more capable conquerers. And of course you blame Christianity, even though it clearly was your own weakness that was the reason. And you call yourselves vikings. :D And don't hate us just because we could blow your country sky-high before you could even say "bjork". *ahem* Seriously though, I suggest you read up on our actions in the Middle East and our reasons behind them before you use the phrase "warmongering".

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam Very good book, and very provocative. :D

And that's exactly why I'm glad Hades isn't in the White House.

Basically, what he said. I think the Rodian on Tatooine plays forever as well.

Level Afghanistan? Okay, I'm sure the countless innocent lives you'd destroy in the process would be glad to hear that. I know what you'll say: so be it, they deserve it, blah blah blah. And that would of course justify every negative thing the world has to say about us and our military. Hildegard would have a field day. *shudders*

There was a quote somewhere in a Gamebiz article about the Xbox version of KotOR II has sold atleast 1 million. While i do not have the sales figures of of the PC version of KotOR II, i do know that KotOR I sold atleast 2.5 million worldwide(both versions), because Bioware told me so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> According to what I heard, vast majority of K2 sales were for X-Box, about 70% I believe. Mind you, this is what a dev told us a while back. And no, I can't remember when or who said it. Might have been J.E. Sawyer, but I don't know. -
Okay, first off, isolationism is what makes a country reactive rather than proactive. And it is because of that things like Pearl Harbor and 9/11 heppened. By sitting at home not doing anything to snip threats in the bud, we allowed enemies to catch us with our pants down. 9/11 may have been prevented if Bill Clinton or George Bush had gone after Bin Laden when he had the chance. Also, we pretty much lose say in world affairs and how they are handled. Kim Jong Il will just keep building his nukes. Not to mention the billions of dollars in world aid that we'll be depriving other countries of. I know you don't care about them, but some people do.

How has it done so far compared to K1? -
Of course one can fight instinct. That is what makes us human. If you have that attitude, you'll be condemned to be a beast your whole life.

We shouldn't have to trade enlightenment for happiness. I look around in this world and I see all the death, misery, and pain out there. But what gives me hope and keeps me going is knowing that there is still good out there. Hope, as naive as it may sound, still exists everwhere. We as human beings can't sit around idly griping about how bad the world is. We have to take things into our own hands to make this world a better place. And as long as believe the world is beyond change, it will be that way. My viewpoint is that we must have knowledge about the world. Only when we know that pain and misery exists will we be able to put a stop to it. And as human beings, it is our duty to help when we can. That is what my faith has taught me.
-
Just because you still maintain trade doesn't mean it's not isolationism. The U.S. had a very similar policy before both world wars, and many consider that isolationism. You are proposing isolationism. And I'll say it as I've said in the past: isolationism, especially for a country such as ours, just doesn't work in this day and age.

After playing Doom 3 last night, I had to creep around corners for fear a demon might leap out at me while unarmed.

The one Uruk Hai sword replica I have is in fact pretty sharp. I know, as my brother cut himself on it before. And let me tell you, the thing is like a giant machete. I guaruntee it would be enough to send any burglar running. And the triple-ball flail could definitely do some damage if swung around.

How do you know what is motivation is? Maybe he's doing it out of both. Maybe out of only one. If he weren't a minister, what would you say then? And at least he's doing something, isnt' he? I think another one of your problems is that you've had so many bad experiences you now look for the negative side of any situation and refuse to see anything positive come out of it. As for God, we've had enough to say about this already. I will say that it's rather pessimistic and unfounded to think God designed three religions for the soul purpose of seeing humans kill each other, or that he even made all three religions for that matter. "He who lives by the sword will die by the sword." Good night. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and play Doom 3.
-
Really? And what about the ministers I've seen paying out of their own pockets to feed someone in need? I've seen soldiers helping civilians in foreign countries. I've seen schools organizing fundraisers to help victims of hurricane Katrina. I've seen people take bombs off buses in order to save the occupants within (some of you have probably heard of this story). And I've seen people from my own country go to places like Haiti and sleep in the dirt in order to help the suffering over there, and in fact in the name of a God who may in fact give a shat. "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these...you did for me."
-
No, not naive. Rather, optimistic. Of course you won't see all that much good on the news, but it's still there (the news also tends to ignore good developments. People tend to be more interested in the bad things happening around the world.) I haven't been in the military, but I know plenty of people who have (my own sister included), and would definitely disagree with you. I think your problem is you don't see any good because you just aren't looking. Open your eyes.
