My dentist was surprised when I told him that the one who yanked my tooth as a kid didn't knock me out.

The angry German growled before flinging the scraps of dress into the air between the two tables. The traders lost sight of the drunken auxilia for a split second, but that was long enough for the Germans to send their table spinning through the dress to attempt to smash the knife wielder and his friends. Before it could reach the any member of the traders table, there was a flick from the foot of the man in back and a second table rose to meet the first. The knife thrower started moving swiftly under the splintering tables, but wasn't as nimble as he thought he should be. He bit back a cry as a shower of splinters filled his neck and arm with an array of splintered needlework of pain. His left arm, unharmed, snapped two more knives across the floor to embed themselves in the ankles of the molester. A german, wielding a massive sword not normally seen within auxilia contingents, roared and was sprinting behind the table, only to be cut off in surprise first by the table not continuing to move, then by the small man diving beneath him as he lept onto and over the table to attempt to catch the traders off guard. Instead of surprise his attack was caught in mid air by one of the traders wielding an old style gladius. They matched each other blow for blow, but the german was tiring faster than his opponent, who had an economy of movement rarely seen outside the Legions. As this dawned on him his defenses slipped and the gladius was embedded in his ribcage expertly sliding in and out before he had finished dying. The other members of the german table put up a good fight but were outfought by what was obviously professional fighters. The other sword fighter was left with a nasty cut on his breast but managed to dispatch the two lesser fighters still at the table, leaving only the molester to the cruel mercies of the knife thrower. “Lucius, make sort work of this eh? We're going to have to depart before dawn!” the first trader said while cleaning his blade. “Gaius, I hardly think I'm going to take that long... I'm an artist with a knife, but certainly am not a perfectionist” the knife wielder responded. “Well we need to get out of here after finishing our task. Octavius is not that pleased with this exposition of our talents. And Crassus needs to have his chest examined by one of the priests.” Gaius responded, sliding his blade away before ducking out the now empty inn's door to get to work on the now time sensitive task before him. Lucius looked back at the man in black, who glared from under the hood of his overcoat before turning and leaving without saying a word. “Fine” Lucius sighed ending his plans for the molester before helping Crassus stand and out to the wagon. The next day, before the Auxilia barracks stood an Imperial Standard, a symbol that caused the entire garrison to seal it's gates to the townsfolks delight, and fear for only the Auxilia really knew what the Standard meant. Yes I am slowly continuing this... not to happy with that last sentance but F- it.

Beat AC4. Kinda underwhelming. The hardest part is that the main character isn't even really an assassin. And it feels like they wanted to do more with the character but due to time and content restrictions they couldn't do much. Currently watching a VERY good scene that plays after the credits begin.

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VI (The Old Menace)
Calax replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
My tank *is* level 55 and has been for a while (successfully completed a few HM flashpoints too, if nothing else, just to get HK) My healer is level 53, just a few xp from level 54, so he's getting there way too fast too... Interesting thing about aim, didn't know that. I shouldn't have given my Commando commando mods then, who would have thought (not me, that's for sure, not knowing any better I would leave him in commando mods and then try to boost power)? Nothing that can't be undone as I craft them myself. A companion can get the old mods. Is alacrity worth getting at all then? Edit: It's a strange thing with the level progression, the late 40's feels like they take forever, then you hit the "magic" level 50 and so many more avenues for xp opens up (GSI, binocular, dreadseed, heroic space missions etc.) and you almost get catapulted to level 55 whether you want it or not. That's common for any expac new content In WoW it used to happen four times (with the longest being in the 50's leveling wise). Debating giving the game another go. Keep getting "PLEASE! RETURN TO US!" emails from the company so.- 505 replies

Actually it's to get around censorship laws. You release it without which gets it through censors, then you don't have to release this cheap piece through in the nations that allow it. Or so I have heard

Really? King of dragon pass isn't a very good simulator when you get down to it, much less one where you are a proper ruler

So... playing through AC IV and got the second major interval (when you get pulled out of the Animus)... They're integrating watchdogs into AC, I kid you not. ANd I think James Woods is one of the "real" characters.

Yep. I love the fact you wipe out all the people set up as the Templar "leaders" so early on. And the missions are always "go to place, new gameplay mechanic, move somewhere, assassinate!" Playing black flag currently debating if they went overboard with the ship schtick or not. Basically instead of the wilderness with cities, you have a massive slice of the Caribbean. But it feels to far apart and a lot of time is spent slowly making your way across the seas. Also Edward Kenway feels like he's just an **** rather than an assassin (to be fair this is partly explained, but still it doesn't feel great to play as him)

Yes, it's a thing. And it looks like I'm going to be hosting my lesbian friend and her gf for sunday at least. Simply because they don't want to be around my friends ex

Be happy you skipped Brotherhood then. It uses it's characters similarly (the Borgias and Leonardo), and has the same recruitment system. GoA, that's basically the entire game in a nutshell. Everythign is so spread out it feels like there's nothign to do and your main missions are kinda "the heck am I doing?"

Drove a mini bus for a "blackout birthday" party. Three trips of 16-18 people each (in a 14 person bus). Everyone was drunk as heck, and on the third run, when I flicked on the lights to confirm that one of their friends had left his phone in, I'm pretty sure that somebody was getting a good time orally from one of the ladies in the back. Then Dropped one group at home from the bar and got offered "a fat smoke off [their] blunt". All in all feel a bit alone but came out of it with about 50 bucks in tips.

I'll leave this one to you, rather than attempting another edification (especially since this time it's not in my realm of knowledge or what I want to know in general :D

So, Gabriel Iglacias stayed on stage for over two hours. And then got a bit weirded out by the fact that he would start telling one of his older jokes, (on request) and the drunken audience would match along with him.

Working, probably ended up signed up for to many hours this weekend, but oh well. Now waiting for Fluffy (Gabriel Iglacias)

Guest appearances? Huh. I'll have to watch these (although I've been off alan's friends list for a while because I was a bit of an ass ) -
Allan plays Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut
Calax replied to alanschu's topic in Computer and Console
changed boss mechanics to make the game more stealth friendly is the main one. There is a list somewhere... -
That'd be a good plan. I still think that once you're able to you go pick up Bloodlines. I think it's overall the best game so far, but then again Black Flag has been seeing some impressive publicity behind it and seems to be coming together solidly from what I've heard. But then again, this is Ubisoft, who's marketing crew is either phenominal, or really terrible depending on the item being marketed.

To be fair, in Norway your average grocery store checker gets about 25 bucks an hour.

Wait, Alan is doing Let's Plays? I need to look in this forum more often. -
I'd say Brotherhood is better than Revelations. And it's not the same parts of Italy as in AC2, specifically you're stuck in Rome rather than wandering between Tuscany, Forli, and Venice. It's biggest problem is just that it's so much shorter than AC2 was, but that's overall remedied with the "synch" %, and the ability to replay the game. Revelations was a bit of a letdown IMO. Shorter still, and the game being to split up into two stories that Ezio is on that don't interact except when the devs go "Oh dear, we need to link these!"

True, but at the same time, it's not guaranteed, and those numbers are based off the previous two generations where college was not as widespread as it is in todays world (where everything you do in highschool is geared towards sending you to college, rather than getting you ready for life). Anecdotal I know but right now one of my friends has a comp sci degree and is a checker for Target and that's it because of the choice he made that prioritized college over work. The average value of a 4-year degree is increased earnings income of $900,000, almost a million dollars, compared to a high school education. I think that's worth the investment. Admittedly educational costs are far outstripping inflation so it makes it tougher. Last time I checked ed costs were one of the fastest risers. The flip side is ed loans are low interest. (Correction: I double checked and they aren't as low as I remember. Fed student loans run 3.86 to 6+% now. My loan rates were considerably lower. So things are tougher) Usually you don't have to start repayment until after you graduate and you have a 6 month window to start, assuming that you do not interrupt your schooling. I think it still works that way. I know the squeeze though. I had fed and state loans to pay off and the state loans required repayment immediately on graduation. Which meant I was paying them off while I was in grad school. OUCH! So yeah I understand the pain. Yeah compound interest is a bitch. Sometimes the solution is to go without until you can really afford something. yeah that's harsh. I'll be blunt - I have absolutely no sympathy for someone complaining about how paying interest on something is stretching their budget. If you can't really afford it, don't buy it. After all, you did mention items over 7 grand and I hardly would classify things in that range as essentials. Okay, income disparity is fair game. I totally agree with two issues. (1) Increased worker productivity has not found it's way into regular incomes - that profit has increasingly been retained at the corporate level without proportionate increases in hiring or income. (2) The % share of wealth held by various income groups has become decidedly skewed towards the 1%. I have to admit that part of me says so effing what? Isn't that part of what is so great about the US? Being able up with a fantastic freaking idea and making a bloody fortune? Like Facebook? On the flip side, I do wonder why there is a cap on income for paying social security and medicare taxes. Oh I understand why it's there - I just don't think it should be. There are just two things that should be added to your analysis: Outsourcing has eliminated a lot of low level entry jobs as well as moved entire fields to other countries and now people are just working harder to be able to keep their jobs rather than make progress. Students take the worst of it since they are trying to enter industries which requires them to have experience which they are unable to gain as the jobs are simply not there. Markets have been consolidating for some time, with just a few emergent global markets remaining and an industry that's monopolized by mega-corporations. I doubt that a small business can break into a market that's dominated by a corporate entity, that would be a remarkable feat of the likes of David defeating Goliath. Mark Zuckerberg is likely to be one of the few people who can take an idea and create a market out of it because he created something new. I would say that in order to break into an established market you'd have to be either extremely wealthy, extremely smart or extremely lucky. With the level of education that we see in the US I guess that just leaves the wealthy. I think that's part of it, also the fact that there is such an income disparity means that for the most part you won't see somebody finding something akin to McDonalds and making it worth a gajillion dollars. Because they don't have the inital money to even try to start up and then if they start to become big they get run over by their competitors corporations. Although to be fair I'm considering starting a business in denver after school to fill a need between Boulder and the Denver international.
