  1. Some people seem to be bringing up Final Fantasy, and whilst those cutscenes are pretty, they're still CGI and so its only logical to replace them with in game cutscenes as graphics progress. I miss FMVs with real actors. Games like Dark Forces... I'd rather watch those cutscenes than the new Star Wars films. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that was Jedi Knight... Dark Forces was old animation where generally only the mouth moved in the scene.
  2. if it isn't a blond robin hood commie it's not GA.

  13. nope... they just put the guy who was at the trigger point first in the cutscene... didn't change a blessed thing. Personally I find that multiplayer, while fun, doesn't do it for me. For example, Fighting games are primairly multiplayer because of the way they are designed. I'll play a fighting game but because I don't have any friends (that can be drawn away from THEIR single player XP's) I find it extremly boring to play a game. Others, primarily from the FPS genre, are almost entirly based around Multiplayer. This causes me no end to fits because I keep hearing how this is such a fantastic game. But when I play it I find it's a dull and forgettable experiance because A) the single player is garbage and B) when you take it online there are two catagories, HORRIBLE! and 1337. the "leet" are usually the ones who are trained (yes... trained... damn I thought games were supposed to be fun!) to use breaks in the system to get around. Like in battlefield 1942 on normandy people would go onto the second terrace and promptly set a satchel at their feet and blow themselves up to the last victory point so that they could get free kills. In Call of duty and a few others there are ways to work around and swap teams fast enough that you dont' get - points but do get pretty much free kills. Halo multiplayer generally is on Xbox and the only times I've ever seen somthing with more than four people I ended up with kids that would literally hang the fact that their score was higher than yours over your head for the next seven days. So Honestly? Multiplayer shouldn't be the centerpiece for any game worth it's cards. To base a score in a review entirly on multiplay is utterly stupid because 90% of that score will be based on who's playing with you. And openendedness should be hit with a hacksaw and dumped in the marinaris trench never to be heard from again.
  14. also the halo rings are designed to knock out all intelligent life in the universe to prevent a paracitical species from running rampant. In halo one you start out by fighting the convenent forces on a halo and at about the midpoint the convenet become backround chaff that you fight while the main opponent is the "flood" (aforementioned paracites). The second game is more about the war between the two groups (earth and the convenent) but also features the flood. One of the things that people were drawn to about the second game is that it had earth as one of the points you were fighting on rather than just on the Halo ring. Neither is a fantastic game but are succesful because they are one of the few FPS's that got the formula down on a console, which reaches far more people than the PC market ever would. Halo 2 and Half Life 2 came out at about the same time and were often compared to each other. Anyone who had half a mind and played PC said that Half Life 2 was better. Meanwhile those who's only exposure to games came via console, said simply somthing along the lines of "The master chief could be up your physics professer, his little dog, and the crowbar he uses! HALO FOR LIFE MY BRUTHA!"
  15. three and 2 for me

  19. so you would turn chess into your average homoerotic sport? Bah...
  20. What do you mean by full contact? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another example of full contact sports: http://www.kungfu.net/sanshou.html Other definitions here: http://www.answers.com/topic/contact-sport (search for "Full-contact sport" on the page). A full-contact sport is similar to a semi-contact sport, but which contains physical contact between the combatants with the aim of causing a knockout or otherwise rendering the opponent inable to continue the match. Injuries are much more common in full-contact sports since the amount of protective gear is often reduced, and the techniques are executed at full power. Makes Chess much more interesting <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My god that would be the funnest game ever if I could get enough people together to play it. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> KNIGHT TAKES PAWN :grunting: DANG! You BROKE my FINGER! WITH A PIPE WRENCH!!
  21. People like big.... I like big. Big it is
  22. the forum mods aren't a part of Obsidian entertainment except in the capacity of wrangling us riotous crowds. They were posters who had a good history (kinda...) who were asked by Finoavar to moderate the discussion. Developers have their own special tag that will also flag a thread differently (if they posted anymore). the only one who was really active was Sawyer and he only seems to poke his head in and browse without posting. Others who have posted include Akari, Chris Avallone. But otherwise our devs are quiet and they have firmly stated they DO NOT have anything for Kotor 3.

  24. Problem with creating an open world is that generally it shuts out replay. Because you can do EVERYTHING in one go. Also the elder scrolls series usually ends up starting BEAUTIFULLY but ending feeling mediocre because it's the same thing again and again and again.
