Israel butchers civilians in international waters
Calax replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
And yet they did it outside the designated border zone. Both the standard one recognized by international law, and the "special" one made specifically for the Israeli protectorate. If they were interested in not making an incident, why not let them get closer to the borderline between international waters and their territory and then use an actual warship to board, rather than a act like pirates? I mean hell, they seem to parallel the pirates from Sudan that everyone got up in arms about, they charge in and take somebodies stuff via force, and then "redistribute" the wealth as they see fit. Because they think that the boats are carrying something that's going to threaten their nation (In the sudan, it's nuclear waste, in Israel it's anything that can be used in a bomb, which is about everything). And if you haven't paid attention, several people have pointed out that this would be legal, if there was a distinct list of things that were and were not allowed to act as humanitarian aid. Israels list is more like an advisory to those who are actually carrying out the search, and thus often gets things added to it on the spot, and changed between each search. -
Did you let her shop? Yeah, but came *THIS* close to kicking her out (I started verbally pushing her towards the door and she forced the kids to either buy something or leave).

Ok, so say they landed in the location provided by the Israeli government, a government (as pointed out in this thread) that has a tenancy to confiscate anything that they feel like, and then get most of their materials confiscated because they're "terrorist weapons", and only about 1/3 of what they actually brought to the place is allowed to move on to it's intended destination. From what little I've seen (mainly posted here), the reason they didn't want to divert is to avoid that sort of situation, and to provoke, I freely admit. However, Israel is also to blame for turning around, after a boarding attempt (which did have non lethal weapons), and pulling out the true hardware and killing people. As bad as the provocation looks, I'd say an over-reaction like this is worse. Seriously, I'm feeling like these gents are only slightly worse than the Tea Party members who were chucking rocks through the windows of congressmen for passing the health care bill. -

and? They're saying that either they'll die for their cause, or get humanitarian aid to Gaza. I'm certain half the people who support Israel right now would have similar sentiments if they were trying to run food to Puerto Rico if the Mexican's managed to take it from us. Still their intent doesn't justify the use of lethal force in a situation as legally muddy as this. -

How long did it take before the IRA and England decided to get along? -
Got called into work, got annoyed at a mom who showed up 3 minutes before closing and assumed that we'd be awesome and let her shop, ended up closing a few minutes late thanks to her.

There's a difference. Crysis was a PC exclusive title, and was designed to use stuff that's was beyond the current tech level. Alpha Protocol is designed as a console game and the graphics on a PS3 or 360 don't exactly have much in the way of power behind them when compared to top of the line graphics cards.

Ah, ok Guess it makes sense then, but I still don't like how they look in the trailer... jsut feels... off

This won't happen until we have a foreign threat to deal with. Like Aliens, or zombies.. Is a really funny thing that you think so. A common enemy only means an alliance of convenience and for the duration of that enemy, remember Russia and the U.S. during WWII. The only thing that ends wars like that is conquest. Well that was kinda my point. The only way that humanity will stop trying to kill it self is if there is an external threat. See:Watchmen. I personally don't like the robotic arms. The Dentons have always been more nanites than overt mods. In fact pure nanite stuff was considered better back in the first Deus.

I thought of something for ME. Even if they had no romance options or anything, they could jimmy it by saying that Liara got pregnant from the constant connections she made with Shepard to figure out the prothean beacons. Or you could do without an imaginary kid. Aside from BG can anyone recall a series with the PC having a child, during the game? Fable. But then that's just a smokescreen because the entire game is lifeless.

[quote name='unskilled-' date='Jun 3 2010, 11:22 PM' post='1040450' However, the graphics look like last-generation graphics. I'm sorry, but I take issue with this. Unless you're defining "last generation" as "first round of 360/ps3 games" then you're incorrect. There is nothing in the previous market that came close to this level of graphics. The graphics aren't as good as ME2's but they do match ME1.

Fear3 is looking interesting. Apparently John Carpenter decided to help them out storywise.

Well, ME does have the contiguous story. You load up from the previous game into the next one. There is a 2 year gap between games that they could mess with. So mini-shep (assuming either Mommy Liara or Male Shep) would be a toddler if he did exist. And given how things have been going in the romances I've unlocked in ME, It feels like the ones from the first games were more entangling (Except for Jack, but she seems like she'd be perfectly fine in a polygamous situation) than in the second (where the sex just felt like "oh, you exhausted all the dialogue options with this member of the opposite gender, here, have pg sex"). And in Alpha Protocol, you can get REALLY entangled with one person in particular, and can boff a few others. Looking at their personalities, one wouldn't keep the kid, one would probably weigh her options financially and emotionally, and a third would leverage her swelling belly into all sorts of benefits. Assuming that they survive that is. If I were writing ME2 and wanted to have this in there? I'd have Liara become a parent, and have a scene where she's talking harsh to an informant, then she "hangs up" and walks over to a crib when she notices shepard... or something. AP2 I don't really wanna get into because of spoiler territory.

I'm guessing AP might turn into one of those gems, like Deus Ex, that people are replaying again and again. I do wonder what modders will do with the game in the near future.

On my first play through I had to ask. Why is this guy Talking to Thorton?
-
Reformatted my computer... Took longer than I thought to get everything up to a point where I'm comfortable leaving it. And I still get to spend probably an hour or two setting up a UI for my WoW characters (yes, the UI is THAT complicated) given the number of Mods I tend to run.

Torchlight (it's a decent Diablo clone, in case you don't know) had this ancestor/descendant mechanic (after your first playthrough, iirc), altough it felt more like a trial of a new idea rather than a well-implemented mechanic. About playing dad; I remember reading Heavy Rain had this "rocking the baby to sleep" mini-game/cut-scene thingy, and that it was quite enjoyable, even for a computer game. Both cases go to show they're doable in certain contexts. Yeah, in order to basically pull it off you'd need to go through and make sure that there HAD to be at least one romance option, and then figure out a way to work that into the second game, or have a time skip. But still, it'd offer a bit more meat to a romance than a one night stand that was probably due to an adrenalin rush (after the "high" it's often noted that couples get down and do it)
