It's custom for the guy who won. It was funny because on the phone he was talking smack to the bidders.

Wouldn't it better to play AAA games and get the companies involved in the fund? Well they have a string of sponsors for their Auctions. Sega, Bethesda, THQ, Microsoft, Sony, and Dark Horse Comics to name a few. But most of their money comes from random people on the world. Right now they're auctioning off a custom voice clip from the guy who does Duke Nukem.

They want you to! The suffering of comedians makes for funny! Right now they're talking to Notch who programmed minecraft.

Ok, I should have done this sooner, but currently the DESERT BUS FOR HOPE is runnin on the rails. Basic rundown: A group of Canuks known as "Loading Ready Run" who (among other things) contribute to the escapist are doing a charity drive where you can make them play the worlds worst game. The game is Desert Bus, a minigame from the unreleased Smoke and Mirrors game by Penn and Teller for the Sega CD. You drive, in real time at 45 mph, from Tuscon AZ to Las Vegas NV, and the bus you're driving pulls to the right a little so you can't just throw a brick on the accelerator and walk off. If you crash, you get picked up in a tow truck in real time and dragged back to your starting point to try again. The way you make them play is donating. The more money they get the more time they "drive". They're currently at 122 hrs (last I checked) and it's constantly rising. They have auctions and contests to help raise money. They sold off a set of cookies for 800 bucks, and four cds of "Paul and Storm" for an even grand (I think) One of the later auctions will be an air fresher, an envelope of sand, and a bus ticket from Vegas to Tuscon provided by Teller. To give you the full "desert bus" experience. Donated money goes to Childs Play. Next year Teller is probably going to go out to Canada and drive the bus for a bit. Today they had the CEO of the company behind DeathSpank driving and answering questions. They have a webcam for their driving cabin (driver and then a bunch of random stuff), one for the game itself, and a chatroom for you to yell at them through. Desertbus.org also they have guests call in and pick out questions from chat to ask while talking. Here's the current list Expect that to be expanded as time goes on because they have to push further and further into the week due to donations.

And Western countries don't oppress their people? Can you show me a Western Country where the people are free and not oppressed by degrees of tyranny. Tyranny is a form of absolute rule of a single individual who usually wrestles power from more legitimate government. Since democratic institutions are by definition opposed to such abuses of power I'll say that various forms of representational government do not tyrannize their people. In the end the concept of rule of law and representation implies that any action strongly opposed by people will lead to a change of elective representatives and by extension their policies. No such possibilities exist in the likes of China. If you honestly believe that the difference between democratic and autocratic/authoritarian government is insignificant then I doubt it's possible to change your mind by the means of discussion. Except that even in the current US system we're having troubles because of how entrenched the two political parties are in the system that you don't really choose between a whole pile of different views and ideologies, but variations on two viewpoints. With no other viable choice, at all. Basically instead of just having the one communist party, you have the Dem and Rep parties.

Hahahahahahahahahaha! Go on, fly to China, try and stay there for a while and discuss or encourage violence or terrorism. They aren't even ****ing allowed to see skeletons in computer games. Honestly, if you think the West cracks down hard on potential terrorism, you obviously haven't seen how China deals with it. Terrorism to the Chinese government is every bit of a threat to their 'social order' as democracy because they have so many ethnic groups they treat like **** and thus want independence - some of which would like to follow the IRA's footsteps to achieve it. Define 'potential terrorism' It seems like between the two nations there are drastically different definitions, both draconian in their own ways, and more extreme than the other.

I can see where both sides in this are coming from and think that you guys are dismissing some of what is said out of hand. While the punishments may not seem as bad in the US for similar things, they can possibly end up worse. After all, I personally was nearly put in Juvie for "terrorist threats" by mentioning something everyone already knew as people have pointed out. As was mentioned another guy was arrested, fined, and then lost his job for things on twitter. Imagine you loose your job and can't find another one for that? And you end up stuck working McD's for the rest of your life because you got arrested and charged as a terrorist by the government. And you can't fly anywhere because you're now on the watch list, or get a loan. Right now it feels like there's probably more verbal freedom in China than there is in the US in terms of discussion of violence. Deciding they're worse because your only exposure to their lifestyle is the Media which is decidedly anti-china is a bit short sighted.

Or teach. I don't necessairly care that I am not gonna be the most successful son of a gun, but I do want to learn and work in a field that interests me rather than slog through life doing something I hate.... if I wanted that I would just stay at McD's and be a restaurant manager

http://kotaku.com/5695144/does-cosmic-back...re-the-big-bang The basics of it are: There was probably a universe before this one It collapsed and removed the entropy (disorder) from the universe Expanded and added entropy. YAY! I always liked this theory and now would have a valid reason to study it as I progress in my classwork!

PS3 is much better than PS2 in terms of movie playing... and is in general a better system than the Box.

They probably have programs running that are able to swift through the immense amount of data and organize it so that its easier for them to analyze. Sort of having their work "pre-chewed" before they bite. Still it would take a boatload of analyst to match 15% of the internet (even without counting all that porn). Well, that's my point... there's so much that the programs have to sift through that even if they reduced the load by 90% you'd probably still be wayyy behind.

What's there to ponder? DO IIIIT! I did... and JESUS this game makes me freak out on the jumping puzzles... I've only just got the shotgun recently... I need to find a texture update for higher poly count.

What does indy have to do with a scifi guy with a rifle getting ready to shoot some punk in a destroyed city?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v3aCp899F8...player_embedded And Gizmo... Why would you want Myth4 given Myth 3 was HORRIBLE? Well, then again, Myth 4 by Bungie that retcons Myth 3 out of existance would be awesome.

Darpa was actually insturmental in the creation of the 'net (with DARPAnet). That said, I think the biggest problem is that these great minds in the intelligence community just have so much to sift through (I mean Echelon tries to go through everything said on the 'net and read it for specific buzzwords that then go on for further evaluation no?) that things generally get lost in the chaff.

Large Hadron Collider successfully creates mini Big Bangs

But Pagalias paper is a LAW paper, NOT a physics paper. Having it peer reviewed by lawyers doesn't make it viable in a scientific arena (otherwise "Young Earth Creationism" would actually be considered a field of legit study, rather than laughed at when it comes up from a scientific standpoint). Also, looking at the paper you posted (my ISU IP gives me access) Basically they're not saying that the black holes don't EMIT energy, just not necessarily energy in the form that Hawking specified. Admittedly I haven't started in on my physics classes so this goes wayyy over my head, but that's the feel I got from it rather than what you seem to think (That this says that black holes emit 0 energy) -
Played through HL2 and both the episodes... pondering starting a HL1 game.

That was probably before they realized the micro black holes might actually turn out to be stable. Anyway, as we've learned in another thread, just because the odds are that low doesn't mean it can't happen. True, but just because there's low odds of me hitting another person in my car (which are much higher odds than those of a blackhole somehow consuming our world) doesn't mean I shouldn't drive to and fro. -
Here's the gun in question: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Incisor There's similarities, but it's a pretty generic sniper rifle, so it could just be incidental... The honeycomb pattern on the armor is about as distinctive, so we have two possible visual cues relating to ME(2). I'm not really convinced, could go either way (ME spin-off, new IP). I thought it looked more like the generic ones from the first game. Compare.

I wonder if our universe is just a mini-universe inside another universes LHC... -
Zahn (except for the Allegiance), Allston and Denning. Stackpole too a little bit, though he tends to be bland. I agree about KJA. Just gonna say, Kathy Tyers can just go burn her manuscripts in a fire... "Oh yay! Darth Vader is asking Leia for forgiveness so he can go to heaven!"

Exactly what I said earlier, except I'm not convinced by their argument about the white dwarves, because you know, they're completely different from earth, like having huge amounts of gravity. Which I think is kinda the point. These Black Holes, in order to become the catastrophic death machines you insist they will, would need to absorb STUPID amounts of mass to become dangerous, as gravitation is based around the mass something contains. In stellar terms, Neutron stars are stars that weren't heavy enough to become the black holes people are more acquainted with when they died. The micros, even if they do gain some mass, would be a threat as much as any other object of that mass unless the rules changed. Even if it did continue to grow (rather than dissipate like it should), it probably wouldn't be a danger until after our sun went nova. -
Well Kotaku says that rumor has it it's a MP version of ME. http://kotaku.com/5692552/rumor-biowares-n...player-spin+off
