  1. There are no untextured hills, the problem is video drivers, and hardware configuration. Draw distance can be set as high or as low as the user wants. If you set it to the maximum on PC the trees appear as far as you can see, pretty much. On Xbox, since you cannot mess with the sliders, there are some instances where they seem to jump out of nowhere, usually when you load into a cell and the trees in distant cells are processed. One of the biggest problems with this is that it hits you RIGHT as you come out of the first dungeon. The positioning of the exit was so that you're looking up at an enormous cliff where there should be shrubbery and trees concealing the LOD textures. Unfortunately, if you have your LOD set low, you get to see the "low process" textures in the distance. That is one of the primary reasons it hits people right away, unfortunately.
  2. I'm an excellent pilot, but I cannot aim for ****. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We should team up. I have mad skills as the gunner. If I have a good pilot, I'm shooting down helicopters with the TV Guided missiles :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This could POTENTIALLY be a better strategy than my kamimaze helicopter runs. ...maybe...
  3. As I said, the narration in that trailer is terrible. It seemed like a horrible Fallout ripoff when I was listening to it.
  4. If I were you, I would contact ATi and tell them the card is malfunctioning. Send it in to them, worst case scenario, they return it to you and call you a dirty communist liar.
  5. It hadn't occured to me.
  6. Most definitely could be the video card, and now that I think about it a bit more, I think it is as well. It is entirely possible you had some sort of power surge or something and both are done. I hope that is not the case.
  7. Game looks cool, the narration was terrible.
  8. I'm an excellent pilot, but I cannot aim for ****.
  9. Uh... your computer should still work without the proper video drivers, which leads me to believe your motherboard is fried. You shouldn't need video drivers to get into windows. The BIOS/Mobo/Video adapter should have sufficient compatability to display things in 640x480 with 8-bit color quality. Angshuman is correct, you need to narrow down the potential problems, can you get ahold of any ati video cards? The closer to your own the better.
  10. Oblivion isn't the only thing that is GOLD around here. This thread delivers!
  11. Do I really have to point out the glaring holes in your logic, or can I sit back and assume you don't need my help and just want to be argumentative?
  12. Not really. Will there be bugs? There will be bugs in any software. Instability relies heavily on the machine you're using; if you're running a machine below the minimum requirements you'll crash. As for Kaftan, he is becoming as predictable as Hades.
  13. Relatively quiet over-clocking if you use water cooling. REVOLUSHION! Yes, that is sarcasm.
  14. Up next: B&B... Bed and Breakfast.
  15. 7800 GS or 6800 GT are good, cost effective video card updates for AGP users.
  16. Kane and Seth are just some emo kid's interpretation of the Gnostic Kane, Able and Seth tale. At least, in my opinion.
  17. I was never impressed with the characters in C&C.
  18. This is a 3d acceleration issue, uninstall the video adapter from device manager, then turn your PC off and remove the video card. Check for any damage, especially damage to the fan. To me, it sounds like your video card is overheating. If there is no damage to the card, reinstall the card and update to the latest drivers. Then contact ati, but not over the phone. Request one of their live chats.

  20. Alas, that's exactly the greatest problem a developer faces when working on a MMORPG. It's virtually impossible to allow the player to have a lasting impact in a multiplayer setting based on an open, persistent world. At present, most MMORPGs cannot allow any real interaction, and thus, they truly have no real gaming value if stripped of the multiplayer appeal. Folks who join those games with the pretense they can simply ignore the multiplayer aspect are going to inesorably fall into disappointment. No, I 'dn't thin's im`possible. From what I read, that seems to happen troutinely in EVE Online. Even if it ionvolves a lot of metagaming, a dynamic world that changes in accordance to players' actions is possible. So I guess it's juts a matter of time until devs leanr to make world sless staticm, and more dependant on players' actions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pirates of the Burning Sea by Flying Lab has something cool that fulfills this desire.
  21. Or, better yet, FEAR. I find it hard to believe you played Half Life 2 and didn't like it. Even people who hate FPS games tend to like Half Life 2.
  22. You can find role playing if you try. I've found it in City of Heroes, I've found it in Guildwars, I've found it in Neverwinter Nights, I could find it in Dungeons and Dragons Online... The difference is I have no desire in playing D&D online. Hades probably played the original Doom in an attempt to try and get into FPS games, or something equally ludicrous.
  23. I've never had this problem. My 7800 GT ran FEAR perfectly with the drivers released in February. Only issue I have is with my sound card, if I use a shotgun it has a very annoying sound lag. Other than that, it ran perfectly.
  24. Afraid? No. I'd just rather not.
