BREAKING NEWS: ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE UNLEASHED IN FLORIDA
How does healthcare reform lead to zombies walking the streets. Because I for one don't recall that happening in the UK. I'm pretty sure grandad woudl have todl me. Although maybe the Nazis just put it into the shade. "Whazzat? Zombees? Warn't no zombees. Wait. There was a few hundred thousand zombees in '31, but Mr Churchill just sent the miners in. Smart dog, that Churchill."

What you did today
Can't be much satisfaction, but knowing the only thing tough enough to kill you is YOU is pretty much the definition of badass. EDIT: Presumably some of your immune system is still loyal? The cancer may be tougher, but it's not part of a regulated system of systems like your normal defences. I wonder if you could leverage that somehow?

Syrian dictatorship continues slaughtering children
I hate to admit it, but Zor does have a point against Western populations. But I'd bundle that up with mine about how trendies lefty-liberals are the ones who have explaining to do. To argue you're in favour of something and within your philosophy absent any means of effecting your principles is definitively asterisked.

The Joy of Human Rights - The EU Way..
The problem is - like almost everything to do with the EU - the eurocrats are applying treaties and powers in ways never intended while ignoring real issues. The only real way to tackle the problem would be to drop out of the Union, but it woudl be a colossal headache for business wanting to work inside Europe. Not something we want right now. Or of course we could just ignore the ruling, and refuse to do anything about it. Plenty of our European partners simply ignore the bits of the EU they don't like.

The funny things thread
I just looked it up! EDIT: Why does he say "I am the lord" at the end? Surely that much is pretty ****ing obvious. Or is it? These rules sound like something Jack Black might shout frtom behind a curtain, when he was really drunk.

Syrian dictatorship continues slaughtering children
I simply can't justify - to myself - worrying about this. What would be the point? There's isn't the slightest chance of armed intervention after Iraq and Afghan. And sanctions would be laughable so long as Russia and China are against them. Having said that, I'm fully in favour of rubbing people's noses in the raw bloody mess.

Syrian dictatorship continues slaughtering children
I got all excited, because I thought maybe we'd have another one of those thrilling million person marches against intervention, and I could get all middle class about how the way to peace is peace. You know, how me sitting in a park with face paint on is going to stop bombing. Plus, when else do you get to meet crusties and smoke first rate draw?

The first gay president
I can see gay parents having pretend gay children. But is that really (bedrock reality) really worse than straight parents having pretend straight kids? Overall, gayness does bother me. I think it's natural to be bothered by anything you don't quite understand. But I get past it by just focussing on more important things like whether a person is helpful and trustworthy, and has guts. In particular one thing you can say for gay people is that they have had to make at least one really brave move in their lives. Which is more than you can say for a lot of 'normals' of any description.

What are you playing now?
Too tired to play any live games. So it's Civ time for me, while listening to Conn Iggulden's pulp fantasy/history of Genghiz Khan.

If you thought eating powdered rhino was weird...
Odd thought: slippery slopes are always mentioned negatively, but without them, how would we ski?
