A roleplaying campaign blog (WHFRP)
Walsingham replied to Walsingham's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
We have some new players and some new characters. Time will tell if I chave time to include them here. -
Very sorry to hear that, Raithe. Your mom must be pretty tough to keep something like that from showing. As an experienced chap, I advise her to punch the bacteria square in the nuts. ~ Storm blew part of my roof off, and triggered the security failsafe on my front door so I can't lock/unlock it!

I do think it's pathetic to nitpick over verbal slip ups. Think of this whole shamozzle as a job interview. If you were hiring for your business are you going to choose based on just the Q&A? Come to that it would be funny if there was a contractual probation period where it was possible to snapcall an election if the Pres turned out to be lazy and didn't turn up at the White House on time.
-
Yes, I did that a while back. Raithe threatened me with nerdoid excommunication if I didn't.

I suppose there's no chance of trying him for 'botherist' offences. The crime of being an annoying ****.

I think it's both excessively naive and cynical to ascribe bad politics to a mysterious cabal of ****bags. They are players in, and products of a game in which the electorate are also players. They are no more and no less to blame than we are. It is my belief, shaped over thel ast few months, that if we want better political options then we have to both increase outr capacity for critical thinking, and to attempt simplification of the issues. By which I mean simplifying the mechanisms of government: tax codes, penal codes, IT. If we could do that we might have some hope of getting some less shriekingly hysterical reaction to the issues, and rely less on nutbag poltical movements or apathy.

Good to be back, however briefly. I'd apologise, but I'm sure you've been getting on splendidly. I've been rushed completely out of my mind with my new work. I've lost weight, but also hair. Much more cynical. Still moderate idealism. Don't drink nearly as much.

I think it's bizarre that the British people get so animated about losing judicial sovereignty to the US on a pretty limited range of offences, but cheerfully ignore the complete subordination of our system to the EU. Makes the case moot in my opinion. However, that said, I also think it's ludicrous to conduct an assault on a US system and then claim that one shouldn't face prosecution by the US. If he was lofting coconuts at greenhouses we'd get it. Unless I've understood the nature of the offence.

Hah! Nice wheels.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-18308335 This is just sad. I honestly feel bad for my countrymen if this is what their plan for post-independence is based on. It's as if the fool thinks we're not in the middle of an appalling recession. Inward investment? From where? Why?

I'm convinced this is mkreku scamming all of you. I learned a long time ago not to check out a butt when all you can see is the butt. Especially when it doesn't appear to involve any hips.

BREAKING NEWS: ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE UNLEASHED IN FLORIDA
Walsingham replied to Llyranor's topic in Way Off-Topic
How does healthcare reform lead to zombies walking the streets. Because I for one don't recall that happening in the UK. I'm pretty sure grandad woudl have todl me. Although maybe the Nazis just put it into the shade. "Whazzat? Zombees? Warn't no zombees. Wait. There was a few hundred thousand zombees in '31, but Mr Churchill just sent the miners in. Smart dog, that Churchill." -
Can't be much satisfaction, but knowing the only thing tough enough to kill you is YOU is pretty much the definition of badass. EDIT: Presumably some of your immune system is still loyal? The cancer may be tougher, but it's not part of a regulated system of systems like your normal defences. I wonder if you could leverage that somehow?

I'm just sitting here, quietly. Waiting.

Bundled up with new office politics, for long days. I would never have believed the tangled mess were it not for the fact that segmenting authority and responsibility leaves individual managers plenty of time to try and prove their chops by messing in other people's business.

Syrian dictatorship continues slaughtering children
Walsingham replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
I hate to admit it, but Zor does have a point against Western populations. But I'd bundle that up with mine about how trendies lefty-liberals are the ones who have explaining to do. To argue you're in favour of something and within your philosophy absent any means of effecting your principles is definitively asterisked. -

UPDATE: Woman being treated for rabies dies in London hospital. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/05/28/woman-treated-for-rabies-dies_n_1550847.html -
The problem is - like almost everything to do with the EU - the eurocrats are applying treaties and powers in ways never intended while ignoring real issues. The only real way to tackle the problem would be to drop out of the Union, but it woudl be a colossal headache for business wanting to work inside Europe. Not something we want right now. Or of course we could just ignore the ruling, and refuse to do anything about it. Plenty of our European partners simply ignore the bits of the EU they don't like.

I just looked it up! EDIT: Why does he say "I am the lord" at the end? Surely that much is pretty ****ing obvious. Or is it? These rules sound like something Jack Black might shout frtom behind a curtain, when he was really drunk.

Syrian dictatorship continues slaughtering children
Walsingham replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
I simply can't justify - to myself - worrying about this. What would be the point? There's isn't the slightest chance of armed intervention after Iraq and Afghan. And sanctions would be laughable so long as Russia and China are against them. Having said that, I'm fully in favour of rubbing people's noses in the raw bloody mess. -

Could be PCP. It's been known to make folks eat each other. -

I got all excited, because I thought maybe we'd have another one of those thrilling million person marches against intervention, and I could get all middle class about how the way to peace is peace. You know, how me sitting in a park with face paint on is going to stop bombing. Plus, when else do you get to meet crusties and smoke first rate draw? -
Maybe she meant peasants. I dunno, man. Peasants don't have much meat on them, either.
