The Internet has got a lot of growing up to do
But just think of all the rare metals, plastics, and copper needed to get all those folks online.

Republican Candidates
I don't see anyone with the simple charisma to beat Obama. But I believe this is his ruination beyond the election. Charisma condemns him. I think the ultimate condemnation of the man isn't what he set out to do, but that he's either failed to do it or it's been an utter balls up. And it's because of his charisma. Foreign policy wise, which was his big plank, what has he done? Made kissy face at the Russians, Chinese, Iranians, and Koreans. All of whom are taking the complete piss. It's been an unmitigated disaster. Not just for these big players, but the fact that in spite of being a big 'hippy' icon he's been lofting drones all over the place, scrambling to cope with unepxected events in Yemen, North Africa, West Africa. You name it. Domestically, I'm still sold on the notion that the US spends too much GDP on health care which is insufficiently productive, and reducing that is good sense. I still believe (although Hurlshot convinced me to severely question it) that government intervention is the way to do that. But I don't believe that Obama can deliver it. He simply isn't aggressive enough to hit the entrenched niterests hard enough. He thinks he can win by being charming , which is just as much nonsense domestically as it is internationally. If anyone here IS an Obama fan the best thing you can do is to convince him he isn't nearly as charming as he thinks he is. I don't know how. Maybe send him some exfoliation cream, or big sunglasses.

Books
The Hunter, The Hammer, and Heaven. Robert Young Pelton Trips to three warzones, chatting to colourful types and so forth. Pelton has been in this game for years and I've never heard an unkind word against him. He has written several books which I have read, but this one is easily the simplest to get 'into'. Strongly recommend it.

Fever! In the morning
Fever down, but joints aching all day, and dog tired. Judged my utility to work was nil so stayed at home in bed. Listened to the radio. Luckily BBC radio 4extra seems to be producing the audio equivalent of teddy bears at the moment. Hope I recover soon. I can't afford to be off too much just now. EDIT: Hope your husband doesn't catch whatever this is. Doesn't seem too serious, apart from the shaking. But it has made me very short tempered.

Fever! In the morning
I'm told that this fever I'm running is common to whole swathes of the country. Who else is down with lurgi? And who else is schlepping into a high tech office which is how they got it in the first place so that they can infect everyone else?

- Group of prominent Australians table drug war report to government - government ignores it
Well, I don't think that's so much of an issue, really. I mean we're not bound by lots of things which used to be canon. For example marriage without parole - I mean divorce. Anyway I was just reading today that AlQ is 'taxing' the west African drug trade to get money for their ventures. I mean, seriously. How many enemies have to be feeding off the illicit trade - while you can still easily get drugs - before it we grow up and admit it's just making things worse? I mean how can funneling billions of dolars into the pockets of our sworn eneies be better than admitting that people who want to fall the **** out of life are going to find a way to do that? I was highly amuse dto see that in the second season of The Wire they actually use my argument: "If we can't win the war on drugs in a prison, then what hope do we have?"- Happy Easter!
Merry Easter to anyone not so mentally tangled that they can't just wish someone a merry anything without analysing it fifteen ****ing ways from Sunday.- What you did today
- Fallout game on here, maybe?
Just had a thought: Fallout has a pen and paper game equivalent, right? How about we do a game on here while we're killing time waiting for our next post-apocalypse fix? I've got quite a neat starting premise, but I reckon we will need a total of three referees/GMs to keep the pace up. We have to agree on general themes and storyline, but get to run our own casts of villains and mini-arcs within the bigger game. Overall I see the theme as having a little humour, and not a little on lampooning fantasy cliches in an apocalypse setting. Mechanically we could agree to run the game on a chat channel like Steam but obviously we'd want to post the highlights on here. Anyone interested? Again, that's two to four players, and three refs.
