  1. I don't know your view on LARPing, but I met tons and tons of gamers in SoCal and the West Coast in general though the Camarilla. Most of them do pen-and-paper gaming as well.
  2. If most of the people playing the game didn't find it fun, then yes it did fail.
  3. That would be tough. It also depends on how Feargus views LucasArts after KOTOR:2.
  4. Luke Skywalker 86% Obi-Wan Kenobi (Pre Death of Qui-Gon Jinn) 82% Mace Windu 82% Obi-Wan Kenobi (Post Death of Qui-Gon Jinn) 79% Qui-Gon Jinn 79% Yoda 75% Darth Revan 75% Anakin Skywalker 71% Darth Sidious 71% Exar Kun 68% Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus 68% Darth Vader 64% Bastila Shan 61% Darth Maul 50%
  5. It may frustrate from moment to moment, but people may have found the challenge fun overall.
  6. I have found that levels of gore are often inversely proportional to the level of horror in a game. People forget that terror is what we are afraid of seeing. Once we have seen gore, the shock passes and we lose tension. It's far more frightening to see a small trail of blood, or hear a blood-curdling scream that to find an eviscerated body.
  7. I often play basher-types from a build perspective, though not from a role-play perspective. I firmly believe that even if your concept is not of a combat-whore, one should build a combat-whore so that you can survive and play your concept.
  8. I'm a fraud. I have Adventure on my HDD, and I've never even started it. And I've never beat a Zork title, despite starting several.
  9. And for the record, Atari currently holds the rights to all D&D titles I do believe, though there are some rumors that Obsidian obtained the rights to Icewind Dale. Feargus mentioned that when Interplay closed, that Obsidian was able to pick up an old license. No one knows exactly which one however. If you like dungeon crawl games like BG:DA, I recommend X-Men Legends and Hunter: Redeemer. However, I only find the games midly entertaining on multiplayer, and boring on single-player.
  10. Computers were also supposed to eliminate the use of paper, and instead that have made it easier to produce far more documents.
  11. I prefer manipulative traps rather than physical snares. I love trapping characters.
  12. I'm all for challenges. However the point of a game is either to compete, or to have fun. In a single player game, competition is removed from the equation largely. So if the game isn't fun, it fails.
  13. Marvel should be suing pencils, because they allow people to draw copyrighted Marvel characters! How dare pencils! From what I've heard, Matrix Online is largely devoid of Neo copy-cats.
  14. Warren Spector, the guy behind Deus Ex and many other great games just started up a new company that will focus on first-person RPGs in the style of System Shock, Deus Ex and Ultima Underworld.
  15. That's a horrid lineup of games. And I don't believe Fallout 3, NWN:2 or Dragon Age appeared at E3 in any shape.
  16. Alan Cumming on his own website said he wasn't coming back because Fox didn't pick up his option. It's possible Fox will recast the role. They're recasting Kitty Pryde, though she was barely in the first two.
  17. It was project Jefferson. You can find info on Jefferson if you Google for it.
  18. Signs was scary because of off-camera action as well. Some people are getting back down to classic tension building techniques that Hitchc0ck used so well years ago. Spielburg apparently uses this quite well in War of the Worlds. We don't get a whole buch of wide angle huge shots of galactic badness, despite what the trailer shows. Most of the film is supposed to shoot fairly close to the main characters. We experience terror through their eyes.
  19. Bioware has made the decision that even if they were able to make the game, they don't want to. I'm sure working on Jade Empire was more rewarding than working on KOTOR, and had less restrictions. OE has openly said they would like to make KOTOR:3, but that decision lies with LucasArts.
  20. That's pretty hard to do when they are talking about filming the first 20 episodes at once like a mini-series.
  21. Most high fantasy has clear-cut good and evil. Despite that Boromir ends up appearing evil in many's eyes despite wanting nothing more than to vanquish the forces of evil. Gandalf appears as a hero despite manipulating others, making large-scale gambits and withholding vital information. There are several minor characters who also miss the larger picture of good and evil and concern themselves with politics instead.
  22. Probably the HDD is going. Start-Run-chkdsk /r Then reboot.
  23. I don't know if diet problems are tied to wealth. Admittedly, if you have more money it's easier to eat healthier, but you may be more disposed to eating out all the time.
  24. http://alancumming.com/whatsnew.htm No Alan Cumming, and possibly no Nightcrawler.
  25. Really? Perhaps KOTOR didn't sell as well as you thought considering that Battlefront quickly became the highest selling Star Wars game of all time. However, before LucasArts was able to cash in on Battlefront they had released several duds in a row like Gladius, Super Bom-Bad Racing, Bounty Hunter, Clone Wars, Racer's Revenge, Flight of the Phoenix, etc. etc. They also cancelled production on Sam and Max 2, and Full Throttle 2.
