  1. It was a sad, sad Ultima. There is a fan patch for the dialogue though.
  2. It's unfortunate, not cruel.
  3. And technically C64s and Apple ][ computers were PCs, even if they weren't IBM Compatible PCs.
  4. I think Age of Empires III and Empires at War will completely own the RTS market until say something like Starcraft 2 comes out.
  5. I always suggest it's better to have a top 5 RPGs, etc. How do you compare say Civ to Zelda?
  6. Jesus and his disciples were walking around one day, when Jesus said, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like 3x squared plus 8x minus 9." The disciples looked very puzzled, and finally asked Peter, "What on earth does Jesus mean - the Kingdom of Heaven is like 3x squared plus 8x minus 9? Peter said, "Don't worry. It's just another one of his parabolas."
  7. I saw a website with the full intro for Serpent Isle. It was cut down a bit, because it was getting hard to fit the game on floppies. Uncompressed and installed, U7:SI was something like 40 megs and they got it on 7 floppies, right? Anyway, they had to cut the movies down to get it to that size. The ending video is especially neat (and screwed up). Progressively, the endings from U7, U7:SI, and U8 make for great story. Despite everything that you did, you were still hosed and manipulated, which set-up the big show down in U9. Too bad U9 was a huge disappointment.
  8. Just like there were no Jedi other than Luke Skywalker, and yet the EU has suggested there were tons of other former Jedi elsewhere hiding. Kreia mentions the true Sith. We can consider 3 things. 1 - Kreia lies about everything, and she sent Revan on a wild goose chase. 2 - If she is referring to the race of Sith, they are perceived to be extinct (like the Ratakans) but still exist in small numbers. 3 - She is referring to the Sith as we know them, but the bulk of their forces are still in the Unknown Regions with intents also unknown. I think this is the most likely scenario. The Sith weren't extinct, but we assume the followers of Revan and Malak were the entirely of the Sith. I find that hard to believe. Surely the existed Sith leadership before these two came, converted a few Jedi and started up a new Sith fleet. I imagine a true Sith Lord might set up a civil war (just like Palpy did), then step in a defeat one side and claim to be the hero, taking advantage of the weakened Republic and establish a new Empire. They just have to step in out of the shadows now. Given that scenario, it makes the most sense that Revan was that Sith Lord all along. If you buy the LS Revan story, then Revan was only really LS because he lost his memories, or he went to deceive the Jedi Order and pretended to work for them. Either way, Kreia put him back on his correct path and manipulated the Exile to prepare the galaxy for Revan to come back in and take over the place.
  9. That actually looks quite tasty. In another 90 minutes, our buffet at work will switch to serving breakfast, and then I will forage.
  10. I traded in it for a better model.
  11. I like pie. And I have no clue where this thread has gone, but I like pie.
  12. I disagree on your take of Lawful Evil. Lawful Evil doesn't just mean a soldier taking orders. Evil espouses a view of being selfish, and no moral responsibility to others. Lawful means that you follow an ethical code. You may not care about others, but you may have a principle of not attacking women or children.
  13. Kiev Shield - 29th January 1901 European Expansion Problems Solved? by Pitr Kretchov, Kiev, Russia Political think-tanks are all the rage in the new modern 20th Century. Populations are on the rise, and as several major empires have traded land countless times throughout both Europe and Asia, scholars are searching for solutions to expansionist desires that don't involve military action. One University of Kiev student, Gregor Smirnof has proposed the solution lies with internal revolution. "War has historically been seen as a means to build and strengthen empires. The reality however is that war accomplishes little other than thinning out the population and expending resources", writes Smirnof. Smirnof also notes that after population thins out due to the tolls of war, it may seem there are more resources per capita within a nation, but there is also a hefty cost of rebuilding after war. He cites a famous British essay which may hold the key to peaceful means of handing bulging populations. "A Modest Proposal" addresses these very issues in a means that deals with population as a resource itself as opposed to a resource sink. Best of all, there is no cost, or rebuilding necessary. Smirnoff says they have begun a small case study to project the merits of Swift's proposal on a large and modern scale. He notes that not only are the initial numbers promising, but the results are also quite tasty. http://art-bin.com/art/omodest.html
  14. The Nephilim, also known as the Grigori, were actually the crossbreed children of the Angel Shemyaza and his followers with humans in several apocryphal writings of both the Jewish and early Christian faiths. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah.... I had heard the term Grigori before.
  15. Alkabeth had 3D graphics when very few games did, and Ultima 6, 8 and 9 pushed graphical boundaries of their time. Ultima 6 may have been the first major RPG to be mouse driven as well.
  16. Flying tangental airlines: I seriously think someone should do a Pimp My Wheelchair show.
  17. "We are sorry to announce that Mr. Albert Brown has been quite unwell, owing to his recent death, and is taking a short holiday to recover." -Parish Magazine
  18. Voltron > Transformers > Go Bots > Goat Droppings
  19. I was told that until a few hundred years ago there were countries that still didn't have any use of numbers really. They simply had one, zero and many.
  20. There are plenty of good fan films. Parody laws protect them to an extent. And Lucas has sued quite a few people, but he actually officially recognizes and hands out awards for fan films.
  21. And getting shot at just for walking down the street? Man, I wish I was like that!
  22. It's possible that MCA and Odin have communicated enough, and developed enough of a rapport for MCA to get away with bagging on Odin. Did Odin seem to take offense? No. I'm sure Odin has been emailing MCA for years. How many responses and actual talks they've had I have no idea bout.
  23. Spellmar says "Do any of you old cats here remember Spellmar?" Spellmar says, "Ah, those were good times." Sentences are good. Fragments bad. I'd have to go with Torment, Fallout series and Ultima series.
