Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
GhostofAnakin replied to jodo kast 5's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Really? Here's the excerpt from the novel, right at the point when Palps was firing lightning at Mace and had him in trouble. Pg. 334 of the hardcover Revenge of the Sith novelization: If you will notice, Palpatine was on the brink of destroying Mace, but with Mace pleading with Anakin for help, Palpatine figured Anakin might side with Mace so he goes DIRECTLY from dominating Mace to the point Mace says "Anakin, he's too strong for me...", to becoming that feeble old man. So Nurb, I'd say the novelization does make it quite obvious that Palpatine "gave up" in his fight because he didn't want to risk having Anakin side with Mace at that moment. That excerpt, atleast, definitely points to it. -
Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?

Wow, you really showed me there. If Mace "won", then why did he die and Palpatine still alive? " In your own words, you can interpret all you want, but when all is said and done Mace is splattered on a pavement somewhere and Palps is busy cackling til his heart's content. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And I suppose you think that Anakin slicing Mace up had nothing to do with that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, either theory holds. I just didn't appreciate his condescending tone in his. If someone's going to act condescending, then their post better be absolutely flawless and their theory air tight. His was not, since he claimed Mace "won". He didn't win, at most he had an advantage. Had he "won", Palps would have been dead and Mace alive. -

Actually, didn't the petitions work the opposite way for SWG? I heard they made changes based on what people who didn't even play the game wanted, rather than listening to those who actually did play it.

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
GhostofAnakin replied to jodo kast 5's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That seems to be quite the debate over at the Official Star Wars forums. Personally, I tend to agree with those who say that Palpatine was just "toying" with Mace, especially when he sensed Anakin approach. He was a master of manipulation and knew that if Anakin saw Mace picking on an old, weak man, he'd be more inclined to align with Sidious than if Sidious was beating the snot out of Mace. In that instance, Palps probably assumed Anakin would side with Mace instead. You have to remember what Sidious was all about. He manhandled Yoda later on, he manhandled THREE Jedi Masters when they came to arrest him. So I don't think it's a stretch that he was toying with Mace for the benefit of the Whining One. -
IF they are going to use Revan, I think the only way they can use Revan without risking stomping on both DS and LS Revan fans is to make that part of the "choice", much like in TSL when you select whether Revan was LS or DS. Then at the end, it plays out two different ways depending on whether you told the game that Revan was LS or DS. If Revan is said to be DS, then perhaps the new PC (you the player) have to confront him as the final endboss. If Revan is said to be LS, then (and he's an interesting twist), REVAN tells you he'll fight the "endboss" while you get away, thus sacrificing himself to allow you to escape the cliche'd exploding planet/base/moon/ship/etc.
-
Huh? I don't get your first sentence. TSL's development cycle was about 12 or 13 months, not 6-7. Or are you trying to say something different?

Re: Question/Thoughts On Kreia Ending
GhostofAnakin replied to Lord_Peter's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
She didn't want to find Revan. She wanted a)revenge on those who wronged her (or who she felt wronged her), and b)for the Exile, who she believed to be the "perfect" individual who could wield the Force BUT didn't need the Force to survive, to achieve his destiny. Once both of those were achieved, she no longer cared to accomplish anything else and thus probably didn't care if she lived or died. -

More than likely it was assumed that her wounds were too great from battle to be saved, much like Darth Vader died at the end of RotJ despite being "redeemed". She wanted the exile to defeat her if he could, and in doing so she probably would have fought to the death and thus the only way to defeat her was to also kill her. -

Kreia explained it in her dialogue to you. I'm paraphrasing here, but basically she said that defeating her was your final "test". She wanted you to become this powerful force and in order to do that you needed to show you were stronger than what was thrown at you. In her thinking, if you couldn't defeat her, then she failed as a master and you just weren't strong enough to do what she wanted. -

Kotor 3: Ideas and Suggestions
GhostofAnakin replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That'd be quite the chore to develop though. I like the idea, don't get me wrong, but if they had additional planets depending on your alignment to pick up NPCs from, that'd be almost like developing 2 separate games. I'd be in heaven, but I don't see a developer being anxious to spend the next 5 years working on one game. -
The only thing I see that could go wrong with that scenario (putting aside game balance issues) is people might be upset that their choices for Revan in KOTOR I had no real effect. But I guess that's a risk they take continuing the story with Revan as a focal point of it.

You can do that in FPS games? Wow! I never knew that (because I never play FPS games). That actually sounds like fun. Is this only in multi-player mode or in single-player mode too? I could spend hours running around healing people and telling them off for getting injured! :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can you pretend to heal these guys, but then empty your rifle into their bleeding corpses?

The armor looks crappy. I always equip the robes, even at the cost of losing out on various bonuses just for aesthetical reasons.

For once we agree on something. I suck at FPS games, so it's no fun joining an online server where everyone is an expert and kills me within a few seconds of joining the game.

GhostofAnakin replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I find it funny that the two people who insist that the KOTOR series is "dead" and that they should stop making KOTOR games are the two people who, right from the beginning of production, didn't have a single good thing to say about the series anyways. No offense Hades and Drakron, but considering you both seem to dislike the series anyways, I don't think your opinion is the be all and end all when it comes to deciding if the series is truly "dead". But what do me and the half million or whatever sales they made know. Just because we want the series to continue and don't feel TSL "killed" the series doesn't mean squat because TWO people, who have been negative towards the whole series anyways, say so. Right. -

GhostofAnakin replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You assume that whoever does KOTOR3 has to even mention this "Real Sith" threat. All Obsidian did was say that Revan went off to face them, and that the Exile had the chance to follow Revan. The next developer could just as easily explain that Kreia was making all of it up to corrupt the Exile, and that there is no "real Sith" threat out there and thus craft their own story.
