  1. Stupid bard Mikael. He sings that same song "down with Ulfric, the killer of kings ..." every time I enter the tavern, and now the tune is stuck in my head.
  2. Just for a bit of clarification, do the enemies level to your character's overall level? Or do they level to your character's combat associated skills levels? For instance, I'm at Level 25 as a character, but things like my one-handed attack skill is up to like level 64, my speech skill is up to level 55, light armor up to level 64, etc. Does the fact those skills are that much higher than my actual character level have any impact on the enemies' level that I face?
  3. I shouldn't have bought Reckoning on release day. I still haven't played it since Skyrim's taking all of my time right now. I'm not even halfway done my first play through of Skyrim, and with Mass Effect 3 coming out in about 2 or 3 weeks, I likely won't be touching Reckoning until April or so.
  4. The highest I've faced so far is a blood dragon. And like the regular dragon, it wasn't a challenge at all. They take a bit longer to kill, but the damage they do to me is still minimal. I'll usually have about 90% health remaining after a confrontation with a blood dragon. Meanwhile, I got my ass handed to me by some mage that took like half my health with one frost spell, and made me use my entire inventory of health potions just to be able to stay alive long enough to finally kill him.
  5. I still have trouble getting over the fact the dragons are so easy to kill, and do absolutely no damage to me, while some of the lesser enemies give me trouble. Other than that, I'm enjoying the combat in the game.
  6. That's a tonne more followers than I thought was available. Half those characters I've already interacted with, but they gave me no indication they'd join me. Then again, a lot of them gave me fetch quests that I haven't gotten around to yet. So that might explain it. So far, I've gotten Lydia and that chick with the long name who is the housecarl when you buy a house in Solitude. I've also run into three or four of those mercenaries that you have to pay money to have them join you (haven't bothered with that). Say what you will about Skyrim, but the game certainly is bang for your buck. There's just so much to do.
  7. Lydia's supposed to be a thief/rogue, is she not? Yet everytime I give her equipment to carry for me, she decides to wear the heaviest armor possible.
  8. I got my second housecarl today. I don't know which one to drag around as a packmule --- err companion, the one from Solitude or the one from Whiterun. This game really is huge. I've been at this for days, and I'm nowhere close to finishing up any of the quests from the main cities (other than I believe Whiterun, where I have one or two to go).
  9. That very well may be the case, however, I came across a new area which just so happened to have a dragon (and some weird mage-type dude as well), and both were about as easy as the previous dragons to defeat.
  10. Wouldn't the fact they're still looking for a lead artist for the game suggest the secret project is pretty much in its infancy stage? Not being in the 'Biz, I wouldn't know. But I'd have thought that if the project was already well into development, they'd already be past the stage they need to develop an art style for it.
  11. The dragons in Skyrim are so incredibly easy to kill, at least to the point I'm at now (Level 18). I take like practically no damage even when they breath fire on me, and it doesn't take many whacks with my axe to kill it. Meanwhile, I got my ass handed to me by some giant bug underneath one of the towers I randomly explored. I would have thought a game based around the dragon returning theme would make them the toughest foes, not some random beast that's a third of the size of a dragon.
  12. Up to around Level 13 in Skyrim. I'm enjoying it, mainly because of the exploration. I have to start actually finishing all these quests soon. I've just been going around to the various towns and cities and talking to people, getting quests added to my journal, but not actually doing them. I've only found one companion so far, Lydia. I've come across three that I could hire as mercenaries, but Lydia's the only "free" help I've found. Wait, scratch that. I also had an Elf from the first town, but he got killed in one of the dungeons. Hopefully he wasn't necessary for further quests.
  13. The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills.
  14. Do the starting classes/races have any effect on the game, other than the class-specific bonuses? For instance, are there any quests available or not available depending on your starting class/race? I'm playing as a Nord this first time through, and am curious if there's much of a difference if I take a different class the next time.
  15. Me? I enjoy the exploring and openness of the world in games lik Oblivion and Skyrim. I was just curious about whether they'd improved upon the dialogue and story from Oblivion, which were the two main things that I didn't like about Oblivion.
  16. I'm up to Level 10 in Skyrim. I find myself doing a lot of exploring, rather than doing missions. Thus far, the only missions I've done are a bit of the I guess you'd call it main story up to learning to use the Voice, and a bunch of Fed Ex sidequests where I bring Item X to Person B from Person A.
  17. They certainly found a way to make that new female character ugly as sin. And I thought Miranda's troll face was bad.
  18. I'm not looking forward to playing as Katarina. That's the one character I haven't finished the game as, mainly because I fear I'm going to get owned using her against the tougher bosses.
  19. That might be enough to convince me to eventually pick it up. I gave up on the other one because of just how friggin' linear it was.
  20. I hope it picks up the further in I go. I'm just heading to meet some Jarl person, after leaving the first little town you're sent to after the beginning. That town's quests were very Oblivion-like, and the dialogue with the citizens certainly weren't an improvement over Oblivion. Not that I disliked Oblivion, or anything. It's just that I was expecting them to improve upon what was in Oblivion, not just repeat it with a different story.
  21. I'll eventually get the DSIII DLC, I promise! You don't have to leave just yet, Nathaniel.
  22. Decided to go with Skyrim. I'm VERY early in the game, but the dialogue reminds me of Oblivion. I'm not seeing any improvements.
  23. I'm not sure what to play next. Tomorrow Kingdoms of Amalur is released, I still have to start Skyrim, and I'm tempted to replay Dungeon Siege III, Alpha Protocol, Mass Effect 1 &2, Arkham City, and Resident Evil 5. I'm leaning toward Amalur and Skyrim, since I've played the other games already at least once. But I'm not sure which one to start first.
  24. Finished AC Revelations. Maybe I'm slow on the uptake, but I'm no closer to understanding wtf those weird celestial-like beings are, or what the big point of the series is (other than Templars versus Assasins for some reason). Also, there were a lot less achievements to unlock this time around. I think I unlocked 16 of 59, compared to twice that number I unlocked after finishing the main story for the previous three games. Not a big deal or anything, just something that caught my eye.
  25. I guess that makes sense. It's just rather jarring. Obviously the Revelations' Altair makes more sense, given both his name and his supposed origin. It makes you wonder what the heck they were thinking back when they made AC1.
