I've got Skyrim's theme music stuck in my head now after watching that video. Thanks a lot.

Am I the only one that thinks Admiral Hackett and Zaeed look the same? I was waiting for the big reveal later in the game! Also, Admiral Hackett's voice reminded me of Optimus Prime during his holographic conversations. I expected him to say, "Autobots, transform and roll out" before signing off.

Overload, just because there's so many enemies with shields.

sure they do, DOOM was a huge hit back in the day Shush. I was referring to the just released RE: Operation Raccoon City.

So I guess Resident Evil and FPS don't mix, eh?

Speaking of that hospital scene, Ashley fans got gipped. Kaidan's laying there shirtless, but Ashley's wearing a t-shirt. I wanted to see some pixelated boobies, damn it.

You know, for the first quarter of the game I didn't even pay attention to that percentage bonus/penalty for carrying extra weapons. I had my character carrying all five weapon slots, with something like a -200% recharge penalty until I took a closer look at that equipment page and realized that my powers recharge faster the less items I carry.

Also, Felcia Day > Jessica Chobot

It's "open" in the sense that you can travel across the map and open areas/quests anytime you want. Some buildings are closed/locked until you reach certain points in the story, but the actual map and areas are open to access. In comparison to, say, Mass Effect 3, where you cannot travel to Rannoch or the Asari world before those missions are given to you.

I'm surprised at the indifference/hate toward Amalur. It's an open world, and the faction sidequests are about on par with what you got in Skyrim. In some cases, the story behind them is better than the ones you got in Skyrim.

It's going to be interesting to see the Bio boards fan reaction if BioWare doesn't address the ending at PAX, and instead the only thing they announce at the event is the release of some pre-ending DLC.

That almost gave me a seizure. What's up with that page? Something's coming.... ??? Yeah, a massive seizure.
-
The pathetic thing is Diana Allers is much better in that parody cartoon than she is in the actual game.

That almost gave me a seizure. What's up with that page?

I'm really enjoying my current run through Kingdoms of Amalur. The quests and lore are more indepth than what I recall seeing in Fable, and the combat is more fun.

How exactly is this a review? There's not a single mention of what you actually disliked about it. Reviews tend to involve detailed sentences and paragraphs about what you liked/didn't like, and what worked/didn't work in the game. As Cantousent said, it's well within your right to say you didn't like the game. But you didn't "review" anything. You ranted. As an aside, I clicked on the video link thinking you'd made a video review, but instead all it was was the theme for Dungeon Siege. What was the point behind linking to that video?

I think another one of the things that hurts ME3's replayability (besides the ending) is for those who like to make multiple play throughs to try different squad combinations. Because you're only limited to 6 companions (7 if you got the DLC character), it narrows down the options for trying out different combinations. And while ME1 only had 6 companions as well, where ME3 takes this one step further is the fact that the linearity of how some of the main quest stories plays out, you don't have access to all squadmates until over halfway through the game. Two examples of this are Ashley/Kaiden and Tali. While you get to use Ashley/Kaiden up until the Mars mission right at the beginning of the game, they're laid up in the hospital until after the Cerberus attack on the Citadel. They're not available for a good portion of the first half of the game. And Tali doesn't join your team until after you reach the Geth/Quarian mission, which is well past the halfway point of the game. So in effect, the only members of your squad that you have access to for the majority of the game are Liara, James, EDI, and Garrus. It also doesn't help that, IMO, EDI and James were incredibly boring characters, and Liara and Garrus you already know everything there is to know about them since they were in all three games (Garrus as a full squadmate for all three).

LOL dude, Anders never said that stuff to me. I think he's got eyes just for you.

The only one I had a major issue with the ending, where no matter what side you chose, you had to fight both "bosses" anyway. The lead up to that was, IMO, fine. The re-used areas and swarming waves of enemies was a minor issue for me, but not one that I'd hold against DA3. Maybe a bit of tweaking when it comes to the re-used areas to hide the fact cosmetically (ie. remove areas on minimap that can't be accessed), but not a game breaker for me. As for the swarms, with the new "press the awesome button" combat system, tactical combat wasn't going to work very well anyway. And that's pretty much the only thing that's affected by swarms of enemies. At least for me. I don't get the complaint about the gay romances. When Anders was hitting on me, I shot him down. I don't recall him pushing himself on me after that. One thing I'd like to see DA3 return to is the multiple cities to travel to. DA:O just seemed like a much more massive game than DA2, largely because there were multiple city hubs. I actually liked Acts 1 and 2 in DA2. Act 3 is where things started to go down the toilet for me.

I never played Risen, and frankly I've only seen the odd preview or gameplay video. But there's something about pirates that intrigues me.

BioWare seems to be locking down some of the negativity threads all of a sudden. I'm not sure what that implies, if anything, with PAX coming up.

i found it very Fable like as well (maybe with a bit of Sacred 2 as well). Only I don't really like Fable (or for that matter Sacred 2). I put KoA:R aside to work on the FO:NV expansions (which I in turn put aside to play ME3). Seems like a well enough made game, but I'm not sure I'm going to ever go back to it... The quests are a bit more fleshed out (I'm being generous) than Fable. Also, I personally think the combat is a lot more fun than Fable's. I'm almost Level 7, and haven't really gotten far in the game -- at least I don't think I have. I usually base this on how many achievements I've unlocked, since a lot of the "main quests" tend to earn you some. And I've only gotten like 5 out of 61 achievements. It won't go down as one of my favorite games, but I think it's interesting enough to at least finish it once.

Finally popped in KoA Reckoning. Bought it on release day, but with Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 to go through, I haven't gotten around to starting a game yet. Not too bad. First impression early on is similar to Fable.
