My mechs are awesome ... until they're up against the enemy's mech equivalent. Then they get hammered because the enemy can shoot twice to do 9 damage each shot, and still somehow go into Overwatch, all on the same turn.

Unlocked the guided missile rocket launcher thing in XCOM for my heavy troopers. It's almost unfair how good the weapon is.
-
Is it a good idea to turn your best soldiers into MECs? I changed one of my lower level guys, just to try out what that feature looks like. But I don't want to tamper with my main party of soldiers who get employed on most missions.

How Is Chris Avellone able to do all this?
GhostofAnakin replied to Darth Trethon's topic in Obsidian General
Avellone is a cyborg. I thought this was common knowledge? -
That one mission where you investigate the infestation in Nova Scotia was a pain. Those crysalides (or whatever they're called) just kept coming, so it took forever to actually breach the big ship. Luckily there's no "timer" until after, so I was able to take my time mowing them down. If it weren't for my sniper, I'd likely be dead. She's the only one that seems to be able to hit the enemy while on Overwatch.

I don't know if it's just bad luck or what, but lately my soldiers have been horrible at hitting the enemy with even high percentage shots. Hell, my fully leveled up sniper with incredible aim missed a shot that was 92% chance of hitting in the last mission I went on. The other weird thing is a lot of my lower end soldiers constantly have bad hit percentages for shots where the enemy isn't even far away. For example, my secondary sniper (Corporal or something) keeps getting percentages like 38% or 44% for shots that are literally twenty feet in front of him. He's missed 90% of his overwatch shots because of it.

Squad strategy on missions is a breeze for me. What I'm finding the most difficult thing is micromanaging all the various things to research/build back at HQ. It seems like time just goes by so fast that I'm constantly behind. The satellite coverage aspect is one of my major issues. It just takes forever just to even build the satellites and uplinks, and in doing so I never have time/assets to build the other facilities to improve my soldier's weapons/armor/etc.

They really don't give you any opportunities to level up more than one group of 4 or 5 soldiers in XCOM, do they. Unless I just did it wrong by bringing along the same quartet for the first few missions.

Still playing XCOM. Apparently my sniper is incredibly vain. She used to hit everything, including shots from seemingly across the map with little chance of actually hitting. But since I decided to change her hair style, she's missing easy shots constantly.

My sniper chick saved my bacon a half dozen times on that last mission. She was staked out on a roof top, and usually I'd set her to Overwatch if no enemies were in sight at the time of her move. Aliens would then drop down and try and attack my guys on the ground, but she kept picking them off from quite a distance away.

Newbie to XCOM, I'm finding myself overwhelmed with the sheer amount of stuff going on. So much stuff to research/engineer/build, and so little time to do it.

I want a male equivalent of Lara. They had Kurtis in Angel of Darkness, which wasn't a good game at all but I liked Kurtis. Or at least, what my memory remembers of Kurtis. I think he didn't have a happy ending tho. My memory sucks now. Play a BioWare game. They usually have a bunch of androgynous male characters that come on to your character, regardless of what gender you play as.

Have you seen the voice actor/motion capture actor? You'd want to spend a day hearing her make gasping and moaning sounds as well.

I try to pretend it's not like the other Tomb Raider games. In doing so, I actually had a lot of fun with it. Plus Lara's hot.

Tree? That's way too high tech. I'm thinking bushes.

Managed to finish it as Mors. Couldn't find enough to draw me back to finish it as ... crap, I forget the other guy's name. Ezio Auditore or whatever.

I found the Fade portion incredibly boring. The concept behind it was intriguing, but the gameplay implementation of that concept makes it my least favorite of the "four things to do" areas.

The Bureau has been much better than I'd been lead to believe. I got it on sale, so my expectations weren't high to begin with. But I'd even go so far as to say it would have been worth it to me as a full price purchase. Maybe it's because I've actually yet to play the original XCOM games. So I didn't have preconceived notions about what the game should be like, or how the story should go.

Taking a break from Dragon's Dogma. I'm playing The Bureau, which I'd gotten on sale awhile back. I was expecting the combat to actually be paused while I issue orders, but then I see all the enemies moving about while I'm taking my time organizing my squad. The combat is basically like Mass Effect's (it's even got the Mass Effect wheel). Having said all that, I'm actually enjoying it. It got such bad ratings that I figured it would be garbage (that never stops me from buying stuff on sale, apparently), but I'm about an hour in and having quite a bit of fun.

Finished Dragon's Dogma (haven't played the expansion island yet, though). The ending was a bit confusing simply in the fact that I was walking around as a ghost, unsure of what to do next. So I had to reload to return to that area to do that thing (yeah, spoiler stuff) with the dragon sword.

I laughed way more at this than I should have. Mainly because it's not that far from the reality of a lot of the dialogue.

Volunteer voice actors?
GhostofAnakin replied to Tommo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm not sure I want to know what you lot sound like. -
Maybe I'm just not understanding the ruleset properly (which is likely), but it's weird that my sword I found very early in the game is more effective than the sword I received for defeating the dragon. The one I received for defeating the dragon is like double the strength (917 strength compared to around 400 strength), but the old sword has a fire enchantment on it that seems to more than make up the difference.
