  1. Won't go wrong with Dishonored, as for DMC, it's ok but DMC3 is still the best one for me. edit: Dark Souls on PC is unplayable without the mod, I can find the link for the mod if you want. Should have specified. I'm playing on the 360, not the PC. All those games are currently at reduced prices, so I was trying to figure out which one(s) to get. The write-up for DMC sounds a lot like what Max Payne 3's gameplay was like, and I wasn't really a fan of the frenetic non-stop action. So I'm not sure DMC would be for me.
  2. Thinking of getting some games that are on sale/cheap. Dark Souls, Dishonored, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and Devil May Cry are at the top of the list. I'm just not sure which ones will actually interest me.
  3. I actually tend to do the opposite. I'll take care of the easy grunts first, then deal with the guys who need extra buttons/keys mashed in order to combat them. Especially the armored guys, who cause you to do the whole "cape stun/multiple punches" to knock them out, I'll get rid of the grunts first so I don't have to worry about one of them attacking me while I'm beating away on the armored guy.
  4. What system are you playing on? What difficulty setting? On the easier difficulty settings, you can tell when the knife attack is coming by the big yellow lines above the attacker's head. Even on tougher difficulties, if you can avoid the first one, you can time the next two. Usually that's what he'll attack with, three swipes.
  5. Finally gotten around to playing Arkham Asylum. I might be in the minority, but I actually prefer the two newer titles. The more openness of Arkham City and Arkham Origins, IMO, fits better with the Batman character. Gliding through the city, facing multiple bad guys along the way, etc. Also, I'm finding the combat less smooth. I try to pull off those combos when I'm fighting multiple enemies, but the directional aiming is so finicky. In the newer games, you just point in the direction of the next guy you want to attack and press the attack button. Here, I'm finding a lot of my strings of combos broken by a touchy combat system.
  6. How is the story? Part of what interests me with the Batman games is that, while the stories aren't always great, they're more interesting and a lot more thought put into them than just your typical fighting game.
  7. Why are the Batman games the only decent action games for superheroes? Spiderman, especially, you'd think the setting would be conducive to an action game, what with the web swinging through the city and the villains he faces, etc.
  8. Finally found all the Riddler blackmail files. That was a lot easier than the Riddler trophies in Arkham City. I've even found 20 of the 25 or so Anarky symbols and 4 of the 7 Pinkney plaques.
  9. Finished the main story in Batman Arkham Origins. The Bane fight was pretty epic. I liked the fact it took a bit of planning, rather than just straight on button mashing. The main story seemed a lot shorter than Arkham City, however. But maybe I'm just not remembering AC correctly. While I actually liked the main story, it was a bit disappointing IMO, in that it was the same old same old. Without ruining it with spoilers, . Solid game, but I think I prefer Arkham City just slightly more. Except for that stupid diving/gliding mission with Ra's al Ghul. Hated that with a passion.
  10. I cried when I played Mass Effect 3's ending, but likely for a different reason than why you cried playing the game you're referring to.
  11. One feature I absolutely HATE in Batman Arkham Origins is this sort of side scrawling game play that kicks in once in a while, where it's like you're back to playing those old 1980s arcade games that only go left or right. I really don't understand why they added this, especially since it just randomly pops up for no apparent reason.
  12. Scanning these Anarky symbols is a pain, largely because they're placed in odd places and there's no way to mark them on the map (as opposed to the Riddler files that show up on the map when you interrogate his thugs).
  13. CoD used to have better variety of maps, so you could play whichever play style you wanted to. Are you someone who likes to sneak around with silenced weapons? No problem! There are maps with tunnels and high grass and somesuch you can sneak around in. Are you someone who has little patience and just likes to run and gun? No problem! Some maps cater to this, while even the bigger maps allow movement through buildings to get you to where you want to be. Are you a player that likes playing the sniper role? No problem! There is tall grass to hide in, or building to set up shop. Now? I gave up on the game because the maps, IMO, seemed to focus more and more on basically playing run-n-gun style. The sniper class, especially, was hampered because of the maps having 8 million entry points (thus you couldn't set up claymores/traps to give you a chance to not be snuck up on) and the maps themselves have very short sightlines -- so there's no longer even a benefit of using a sniper scope since a rifle scope allows you to see everyone as well.
  14. The problem is you're basing its popularity on your experience with the single player campaign. I'd bet that the vast majority of those billion sales are due to folks who play it for the multiplayer exclusively.
  15. Don't you think some older games are best kept in the nostalgic archives and never revisited in case the gaming experience isn't what you remember it to be? That's how I view ex-girlfriends.
  16. Closing in on the final mission/battle for Batman Arkham Origins. I've been spending time doing the little trophy hunts the past day or so. Some of these Riddler blackmail files are difficult to capture.
  17. I have this to say about Arkham Origins. Bane is a lot more bad ass in this game than his little bit role in Arkham City. That boss fight was pretty tough for me, largely because I suck at timing my dodging.
  18. You have to hold the LB (detective mode button on the XBox360)? Geez, it would be nice if it says that. All it says as a hint is you can scan the symbol in detective mode, so I assumed it was exactly like scanning a crime scene by going IN to detective mode, but using the 'A' button to do the actual scan.
  19. Ran in to my first issue in Batman Origins. I can't scan any of the Anarky signs I come across. It says they can be scanned in detective mode, but when I go into detective mode there is no option to scan. When you're investigating a crime, you press 'A' and hold it until it finishes scanning. That works fine. But when I come across an Anarky sign, there is no option and pressing 'A' does nothing. Anyone else have issues with this?
  20. Playing through Arkham Origins, I'm realizing just how little I know about the minor characters in the Batman universe. At least with Arkham City, I recognized the majority of the characters I came across -- whether they were good guys or villains. In Origins, the majority of them I'm learning about for the first time ever.
  21. Early on in Arkham Origins, but I'm finding the graphics actually look like a step back from Arkham City. If I didn't know better, I'd actually think Arkham City was made a couple of years *after* Origins. The game, as a whole, just doesn't feel as fluid as Arkham City did. The combat is pretty much identical, but there's just something less smooth about it. And transitioning around the city seems clunkier than in Arkham City. I also don't like the new Batman voice actor.
  22. It will be interesting to see what they do. All the articles I've read, the developers keep going on about "No Shepard" and about not even including anything about the events from the Shepard trilogy. The first part, I have no issue with. In fact, I think it would be stupid if they did bring Shepard back as a protagonist. The second part, I'm not sure how they can completely and totally ignore/gloss over the events that took place during the trilogy.
  23. Hey Alan, did you know you were quoted in this article? http://www.examiner.com/article/dragon-age-3-inquisition-developer-responds-to-release-date-speculation Unless BioWare's got two Alanschu's working for them, you're famous!
  24. Canceled my Batman Arkham Origins order with Best Buy, ordered from Walmart.ca instead. At least this one says it's in stock.
  25. Ugh, thanks a lot, Best Buy online. I ordered Batman Arkham Origins from their online store because theirs said it was in stock, while Walmart's was currently out of stock. I go to my order status and see that the shipment has been delayed because the item is "out of stock". Update your item's status on their product pages, you dolts.
