  1. really another year would have been more than enough to finish the polishing of K2. Besides in that year they could have included all the cut content in the game, which would have more than likely improved a lot of people's veiw of K2. Your right the screen shots for Oblivion are great and I would imagine that when K3 is released the graphics will be that good if not better, but too say that story isn't one of the most important parts of an RPG is kind short sighted. I mean without the immense story that comes with a RPG all you would have is a slow paced FPS, needless to say that more than likely wouldn't sell all that well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Story makes the RPG Graphics make the sales
  2. There is also no sense in them giving up the franchise at all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would you sit in a jail cell for your whole life with 500 million, unable to sell it? That is pretty much what bioware has to go through every time when a publisher like LA publishes their game
  3. I hear a lot of companies hate LA intervention. I also here LA is very strict and their employees are often annoying when it comes to story planning.
  4. You know, I was reading that and I wondered "what if the developer is, in fact, Microsoft?". Why not? This is one of the Xbox's most valued titles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Microsoft most certinally has the money to do so, they own bungie and Halo. Halo 2 last year made nearly 580 million Those who have no clue about video game sales, 580 million in sales is rarely accomplished. Half life (pc) has only manage to sell 1.6 million copies since two months of its release while Halo 2 manage to sell 2.4 million copies on the first day... The last report of Halo sales was in janurary (that I could find) that was 6.4 million sales. Imagine if Microsoft was making the Kotor seris, they would turn it into another Halo. Not a fps, in sales term. If Microsoft had control over the Halo seris, and Kotor Seris they would probably make nearly a billion if both were to be sold in the same year..
  5. Kreia is a typical insane senile women. She just wanted an end in the force, not because she hates jedi, just because she was blamed for the Jedi civil war and wanted to enact revenge on the jedi council.
  6. Maybe. But I won't buy an XBox for one game. This is one base that Microsoft doesn't completely own, and never will. I reserve the right to choose, and I'll play games on the platform I like best. Or I won't play them at all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well of course you're a pc user.. You don't have a **** clue how many sales XBOX Kotor and KOTOR 2 have over their PC counterparts. Plus Mircosoft doesn't want dirt poor pc users who pirate their games to be their number one customers.
  7. not really, its likely that whoever is working on K3 (saying anyone is at the moment) would rather keep it a secret, atleast until its almost complete, given the type of response that OE has recived since K2's release. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would have to agree. If Obsidian or whoever is making K3 annouced it, they would be pressured by LA to make a christmas release again. The only reason why Kotor wasn't rushed as the hypeness for the game happen after the entire game was finished besides for bugs.
  8. Your right if OE was given the same three years I would doubt that we would be seeing the same ammount of flames over how much someone dissliked K2 or how empty it seemed, there would still be those merry few who derive pleasure from berating a persons hardwork but they would be few and far between. The thing is that OE knew the time schedule from the moment they signed the contract with LA, they should have maybe asked for more time another year would have done wonders for the game and for the most part the gammers would have understood. Now this is all assuming that LA would have said ok to them taking another year to finish the game and since KOTOR is a cash cow and LA was dying to cash in on it again it seems unlikely that they would have said "go a head take another year and do it right, chris, we need this to be a game that the gamers will remember." I just hope LA doesn't treat whoever is doing K3 with the same dissrespect that seemed to treat OE, and I hope OE has learned from the misstakes that were made with K2 so they don't repeat them in future games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Time wouldn't of made a difference for the main story besides for an ending.. Well they could actually put items where they belong (no random loot generator) and the extra convos. But you have to argue that the story is isn't the most interesting or strongest. Plus in 3 years the Kotor Engine graphics would be seriously outdated. Heck when Xbox 2 comes out in summer-Christmas the graphics for both games would be considered outdated.. Have you seen screenshots of Obivilion for xbox? It's simply beautiful and stunning. The graphics for Knights of the old republic is going to have to be upgraded to compete with other games today.. Sorry guys but story isn't the most important aspect for games, atleast for the common masses.
  9. I think some scenes (aside from the Ravager blowing up) of the battle taking place would of been great, it would be nice to see the last Republic-sith battle of this time era.. it's a good bet that we won't see anymore grey cones anymore.
  10. I knew it was crap when someone said that Bastilla is really a spy that is taking orders from Darth Sidious... Palpatine.. Which is really complete garbo as Palpatine isn't 2100 years old.
  11. Why wouldn't I be baised? K1 was actually completed, it barely had any mistakes and those mistakes weren't game ruining mistakes... K2 had dozens of problems with the loot system (such as just looting health packs when the only time you use them is before Telos Academy) Also another noticeable thing is... a majority of the cut scenes seem to be at the beginning of the game while the number of cut scenese decrease the farther you get... Interesting isn't it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, your argument is a valid one, but answer this question for me. Would you actually say the game was uncomplete if you hadn't of read/listened to the stuff people dug out of the game? or Would you simply have decieded they wrote a crappy ending/story? But I do prefer KotOR 1 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually yes I thought the game was uncomplete before coming to this forum. The only feeling I had was "Oo.. yeah.. um.. this is it?" if the game had a proper ending I would consider it complete. But though that is if I never went to a KOTOR forum, even if the ending was complete, there would still be people argueing about the lack of Exile-Party member converstations. Bao-Dor had less lines than Zaalbar, Visas aside from the whole "I am sorry Visas" and learning force sight. That was it. Handmaiden same thing, Kreia probably had most of the lines but it was comparable to mission in Kotor 1 (which she didn't had much compare to rest of the party). Atton only had 2 Ebon Hawk converstations. The mind reading one and the jedi quest (I found it shocking to find out that Atton barely had any lines). Other than that all the rest of the characters where like that. They all had short lines, looping text (Do I need to have the same response played to me 10 times?) Why exactly is there seriously a lack of converstations? Like I wanted to ask Atton about some of his jedi hunting missons, or ask Bao-Dor about some of his battles in the war, or even talk to Mandalore and possibly get him to tell me of Raven.
  12. In EU Palpatine is said to gain power by leeching the force off Force adepts and Jedi knights by killing them.. isn't that pretty much the same when compared to Raven and the exile? Palpatine is said by killing, his force count goes up.. the same happens to the exile and Raven.. So isn't it possible that Palpatine is pretty much the same as Raven and Exile? They're all force bond creators and leechers.
  13. Visas comes after you on your second last planet I think. But why stay neutral? Kotor 2 doesn't seem to really encourage neutral jedi with the whole second class idea.. Why would you just not change classes? I am not saying being neutral is bad, but it's patheic to do all these light side acts just to hit 75% to become a weaponmaster, watchmen, or jedi master and than start going on an evil spree to go back to neutralness
  15. Oh yeah in every case where the exile isn't there, the game is very hard. Same with Kreia. I don't know why, maybe all the NPCS can't compete with 100% Jedi. We don't exactly see our first Djedi till Malachor and they're nothing but punks like the ones in Jedi Academy. Same kind of Jedi, they feed off the force... interesting to think of it anyhow the group in Jedi Academy seem a lot like the Jedi in K2.
  16. Granted both games are very well designed. Story K1: Story: you go through the whole training scheme to become a padawan, you find out you are Raven and you have the choice to save the Republic or to bring the end of it. K2: You get to play the "Exile" who had an unusual gift of force bonds, who awakens on the Paraguas station to find an old women who is seceretly his enemy. You luckily escape the station to find a jedi academy on Telos, whom you find your old lover who sets you on the journey to reunite the jedi masters to combat the new sith threat. Gameplay K1: You're actually challenged. You know where all the goodies are A D20 system based on feats and force powers Gameplay K2: -You're NOT challenge -Loot is completely random which is frustrating, E.G. finding jedi robes in Dark games, finding dark jedi robes in light games.. -Enhancements to lightsabers (though you could argue that what makes the game too easy, but again force powers are way too strong, or the enemies are way too weak) -New spifty animations (though a waste of space in my opinion) Overall Thoughts K1 First Starwars RPG game (that was actually good) Became game of the year Sold millions of copies Jaw-dropping twist in the game that literally freaks you out. Overall Thoughts K2 Cutscenes and CGI scenes were either too short or served no purpose (do we really need to see shuttling cut scenes?) Promo of the game was nothing like it was released, who would of thought Atris and Sion being side characters? Seems like originally Paragaus was done before the idea of the force hunger crap came in. Ending? There is an ending? The only ending we got was Kreia reading our palm and reading out future if I knew that was going to be the ending, I would of gone to the carnival and went to a gypsis so I can get a fortune telling. You will waste many hours on a game, only to find out the ending you see, it. ... .. utter crap (w00t)
  17. I would hope that the next KOTOR is about twice to three times as long as K2 was (60-180 hrs to complete). If that was the case then they could program it so that as you gained each new class the non-party NPCs in the game would react to it, same as the farther you went down the darkside the more reaction that you would have from them (i.e. walking the other direction when they see you, refusing to talk to you, etc.). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope K3 is a different design, sure this one is good but it would be nice to have a system similer to Morrowind where the game is open ended. In the case of you can go to any planet you want (well of course there is a limit) while there would only be 4 planets related to the main quest and there will be 6 or so planets no related to the main quest which you can do for fun, and for experiance. Of course for gaining new characters
  18. Actually what I meant was no usage of attack skills what so ever. Like no master flurry, Critical strike, power attack etc.
  19. Master speed and Flurry? I really think that Master speed + Flurry is really a power gamer combo.. who else would disagree with me? A combination of both, with Juyo form and Dual lightsabers is an evil 10 attacks per round. But has anyone actually played KOTOR without resorting to using master speed for attacking? I am pretty sure all of you have gone a route like this Master speed Master Valor Master battle meditation Master Heal. Am I wrong? But that is a pretty usual lightside setup. But in your opinion how much harder would it be for your character if you didn't go a power gaming route? For example you only have burst of speed, force barrier, force wave, lightsaber throw, first tier of force heal?
  20. At first when concept talks were happening, originally your character was suspose to be a jedi padawan, which would of been cool... But in this game you started as an exile who usualyl didn't get his lightsaber for 14 levels I think the story would of been bitter if the whole force hunger crap was out. Your master was killed by Nilhious who's feeding off the jedi and your character escapes Nilihous. Cut out the whole Kreia thing (the whole Kreia story is pointless and dumb). The game simply should of been that you're one of the few remaining Padawans who has to find other members of the jedi order and rally for an attack against the Sithlords Sion and Nilihous (once again not Kreia as she was a bad story element). Also I think the jedi classes are just garbo. There should just be one class which is *drumroll* jedi or dark jedi Which then the game ends in a final conflict between the jedi and the dark jedi in the last battle of the jedi civil war for control over the galaxy. Ok sure its hard to have Raven in that kind of story but he sure wasn't really in the story for KOTOR 2. Ok he was in a few converstation lines but other than that he had no real impact on the story other than Kreia.
  21. In the game I had he never showed up.
  22. Once again OB screws us over... I bet the Helmet for the armor is still in the game... right? As it should of been carried on and I won't take "We didn't have the room to add the armor" as an excuse as you see a lot of Mandalorians walking around with it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Mandalorian helmet and armor are part of the same model. Unlike the player models where the head is separate from the rest of the body. The Assault Armor in the first KotOR simply replaced the body model of the character that equipped it with that of a Mandalorian. (So if a female scoundrel equipped it in KotOR 1 she'd suddenly get half a meter taller and her body shape would become male. ) If you really want the Mandalorian Assault Armor to work in TSL as it did in KotOR1, download the attached file, unzip and put in the Override folder (PC version). It wouldn't work for any Mandalorian Assault Armor you already have in your inventory, only new ones you'd find (or spawn with the console if you don't mind cheating.) Don't know if it works on an X-box though since I don't own one. (Uh, and the post you replied to when you revived this topic was almost 4 months old. ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am a xbox user like the majority of people who have KOTOR 2.
  23. Weeeeeell... maybe if you play the MALE Exile and Mical isn't actually in your party... cause when you play a female Exile and he's in your party you never see him talk to anybody, nor do you ever find out his actual name (well, there's this one cutscene where Atton catches him, but you don't see who he was talking to). So THERE! (Makes no sense that they would keep that in though because the reason why you don't see Carth if Revan was DS female is because she bloody kills him at the end of KOTOR1... or so I'm told. Never did manage to finish playing KOTOR1 DS.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well if you did the Carth Romance in K1, Carth simply can't believe what you're doing and tells Mission to run away with him. Which mission doesn't and she dies But Carth gets away and you can't even find out where he went... he probably went to take Bastilla's shuttle to Telos.
  24. Are you sure about that...the second time I played I levelled up like mad....and no enemy apart from kreia could last more than 10s... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats the problem with KOTOR 2.. it's far too easy.. The only hard fights were the sith borders (when you got all 23 of them to join ) The Twi'lek sisters, and your first jedi master (if you don't have a lightsaber) but after that the game is far too easy. my first game ever I had all my stats into Wisdom and Chrisma and I choked all the jedi masters to death easily.
  25. I learn that the hard way, it took 40 minutes each time for my light sential to recover his force powers <_<
