PoE is just the beginning (hopefully)
Wasn't there news about Obsidian working with Paizo? A pathfinder crpg using the same engine might be in future I assume.

The Official Romance Thread
I think just make romance DLC so it satisfies both groups. If the writers focus on romance, there would be resources taken off from the other parts. Therefore I think a DLC from separate team would be the soultion.

True non linear story line
You simply cannot create paths in crpg... the closest thing would be in a sandbox world where time passes by and even if you (protagonist) don't do anything, the game world move on its own like simulator games. Meanwhile if your character doesn't achieve something particular and grew to old age, (s)he dies from old age. If your character gets captured by enemy lord who simply has no mercy sparing you, your character dies. You can join lords or their vassals to help them rule the world, buy castle from declined lords and fight to become the emperor, join ninja or pirates, become sword master and start your school or simply be the best in competition, be a doctor, be a "tea man," be a merchant, and such to beat the game. That was the most table rpg like pc game that I have played, but it still got default routes therefore still linear.

Monsters; are there a huge variety?
I hope monsters have a varieties of attacks so players need to the best tactics that suit them. For example, maybe one hill giant prefers throwing boulders, another prefers grappling, while the other prefer smashing the tiny foes in close combats. Lions may maul, boars may charge/trample, etc. Also large creatures could have "awesome blow" feat, fear (or a lesser version) radius and such to make them unique rather than just another monster that deals damages.

Which tier did you choose?
The $50 + $15 shipping one. I only buy games new if they are in physical copies and don't require dvd / steam / uplay / origin platform once installed. Looked into the $150(or 160?) physical collector one but didn't seem to be interested in the goods. If the clothes/eye patch/mouse pads were artbooks & audio cds I might get it.

I'm one day late for crowfounding end date, would I still get the game shipped when it's out?

Josh Sawyer Explains: How to Balance an RPG - Extensive Editorial at Kotaku
I thought hardcore rpg players prefer using those "trash choices" like playing low leveled commoners, low magic, slow level progression, low in gold & resources on tabletop? Also E6 & E8 > epic level.

Are spells complex enough?
BG2 started with characters at heroic levels (above 8? think we started with fireball which was like the most powerful spell shown in dragonlance first trilogy novel but I'm not certain) therefore you definitely would feel it had more spells.
